I also own a Beeline Velo. Easy to use and ideal for city use. I just wish mine had an auto off function. I have to recharge it for every ride.

Will keep this in mind if I ever want to upgrade from my off-brand non-gps computer. But having to charge the thing every ride is going to be a trip, on top of the lights I use. Still it would be neat to have navigation without having to consult google.

Delighted to see you have got a Beeline - I absolutely love mine… hope you get on with it too 😁

A friend has the first version and liked it a lot. The only issue he had was the lack of a power off function, it just went into sleep mode and needed charging more often. I noticed the 2nd version fixes that by holding the bottom button for 3 seconds. The attachment seems a bit better too than V1

I have one of these and love it. Most navigation devices are too bulky and have too many features I have no use for. I like that this one is super simple and mini size. The only issue I have is that some of the routes are not travelled enough by fellow users to be optimal, so sometimes I have to upload routes made with other apps that have more local users with local knowledge. But it's nice that you can transfer routes like this, and I reckon this will smooth out over time once more people use it. It's getting quite popular!

Thanks for this wonderful video about the Beeline. I was on the fence myself but after riding my Brompton in the city i felt like i needed it. After seeing your video, I was absolutely convinced! Also your kid is the cutest!!

Thank you. I still use mine all the time. I love the simplicity of the direction arrow and small beeps.

In Boston, many of our bus lanes say "Bike/Bus Only". I actually don't think that's such a bad street to cycle as long as you look for traffic turning right.

I’ve looked at this personally for a few years. And every time I get close to pulling the trigger, I pull back. And it’s mostly because I do not ride with my phone (the large glass slab). I got the cellular watch. And if somehow, the Beeline could work off-line or connect it/update with a connection to the Apple Watch, that would easily be something I could see having. Especially for those local rides with a Brompton. It’ll be interesting to hear your long-term review. I got a feeling that I’ll learn a few things that might have been missing and some others thoughts and uses around it.

In the beginning of the pandemic, when it seemed there might be very few cars on streets for many months (that was heaven, remember? but it only lasted a month or two) I bought a Garmin "touring" computer (Garmin Edge Explore, it was called, much cheaper than the racing computers; I just checked and it looks like it's no longer available) that is basically a mapping device with a few extras like speed and total ride time. I thought it was pretty good for what it was but not very user friendly -- inputting a location was difficult, understandably because of course to make the device small there is no keyboard). I was a bit surprised that the mapping didn't prioritize bike lanes... that was the key drawback I think. So if this device will use crowdsourcing to indicate routes that are better for bikes, that's great.

Spir Grips. Please order them locally. The are slow with shipping and can take months!

I didn't have as good experience with it. I do like the road rating system, a great way to collectively collect useful data. I just with it wasn't dependent on the phone. I also had a hard time seeing the screen in sunlight. My unit died after a month of light usage. I'm hoping that the device got better as I was one of the earlier adopters in the campaign. I really wanted to love the device but the fact that it still ran off of the phone, I think their app was a better choice.

I always have many cameras on me so I have a battery bank that I use to charge all my devices when I take a break. I like the device over just using my iphone with google maps because of the audible beeps. It seems to be more accurate than google maps. I am still testing it but so far I like the simplicity of it.

@@BromptonFamilyTime I think I'll give it another go. They added the "Just ride" feature to just record the ride which was not present when I got it last year. I really want to like this product.

Thanks for the video. I am using actualy a pure gps from sigma on my brompton. It has gps but more for recording and lacks the navigation. So I am looking into something simolar like the beeline velo, because garmin and wahoo are way to expensiv. Btw. what horns are you using on your brompton ?
@BromptonFamilyTime

Spirgrips. I have the regular and carbon ones. I think I like the regular ones better though.

I've been looking for something like smartwatch but only attaches to bike. Seems like this transforms the bike into an ultimate urban transport! Is the attachment mechanism tight enough not to be knocked off of handle?

Shu, based on your origin and destination on the Times Square trip or other trips in your area, would you say the Beeline app is sending you down the best route? eg were there other painted or protected bike lane routes you know of that were not taken by the beeline app? Also, can it do mixed mode routing like Citymapper where you combine transit and bike? Thanks
@BromptonFamilyTime
@BromptonFamilyTime Год назад
It seems to be good so far. There is a "compass mode" that displays an arrow for general directions as well. There is also a route planner, but I have not used it yet. I believe you can make a few waypoints on a map.

Does this unit still use your battery life on the phone, and will it download my Kamoot routes?
@BromptonFamilyTime
@BromptonFamilyTime 8 месяцев назад
It connects to your phone by bluetooth so it will use your phone battery. I don't think it downloads routes. It is just for basic navigation.
