I don't like the nerfs at all. I think all the "utility" techs like summon techs on fortress and melting point offer some very unique ways to play the late game. These techs are not too powerful on they own but punish a board that is badly built. The whole game is somewhat revolving around the melting point and nerfing it's 3rd or 4th tech makes no sense. Just touch the units hit point bar. Same with Fortress, nerf the units chaff cleating ability instead of touching the utility techs if its too strong
at that point of the game nothing compares to the melting points with 3 technologies. It's not a situation where you would want a new unit type. You take a combination of the best monetary value and a unit that at least does something and use your economy on stuff that already have technologies
