Hes got some cool art. No hate to him and congrats on his success but ive done a lot more than digital art from a risk perspective and made people ~billion(s) of dollars including one of this guys boss's boss's boss's etc boss. Nobody paid me shit at the moment. More than market inefficiency.

Still 70 million is a lot. 70% of the people in the world can work everyday for 70 years and not make a million dollars.

Regardless of the input from the creator, you are paying something and getting nothing. And you are hoping to sell that nothing for more than you bought that nothing for. There is no substance or value to any of this. And the whole idea that people actually want digital art is bullshit. Nobody wants to say I spent millions on a few pixels. There is no demand for this art. The only reason people are jumping on this is because people are jumping on this. This is nonsense.

It's basicly a money tree but works only on people who are already rich. As always in real life, if you're reach is easy to get richer.

it's confusing true but quite logical : everything is getting dematerialised and stock on the internet. nft and crytpos are just digitalise what have values. who knows the next step would be to digitalise humans soul on a usb key.

Netflix first started by renting dvds but noticed the limit. The danger of this dematerialised society would be that you ain't the real "owner" of your content , so companies could change your property (like the original Star Wars ) according to new standarts and that can be a very dangerous perspective. the blockchain can avoid this 1984 world by proving to all the system you are the owner of a non censored product.

I always figured fine art that sells for millions was just money laundering. It's one of the only large sales that doesn't require a form for transactions over 10,000 (form 8300 in the states). Just saying, these NFTs seem like a great way to scrub dirty money. A good percentage of the market is probably funded by human trafficking. It's pretty rare for someone to throw away millions because of 'intrinsic value'. Most people are hoping to sell it for more than they bought, or they're just trying to clean their money. In other words, I can buy an NFT for 50,000, then I can sell it to my buddy for 100,00, he can sell it to another buddy for 150,000 - we just cleaned 250,000. Then we can sell it to someone we don't know for 300,000 because either they too are laundering their money, or they just think they can sell for 350,000 based on the history. So there we go, 250,000 cleaned for free, and it doesn't look suspicious since it's just a couple transactions on a longer chain. Looks to me like the whole NFT market is made of criminals and gamblers, but at least artists get some money out of it, dirty as it may be.

@@paxrek except there is no original... Even the creator of the file probably won't have the original. Compitera modify them, and movements to other folders and uploads to the internet already compromise this concept of the "original file" to the point it's impossible. It's just bragging rights.. and a right to nothing really. But it can be sold and traded, because people are desperate to "own" things and are as dumb as a rock.

@@siem9329 no, NFT value is associated with the change of ownership. Creator selling gives it the exact amount. As the "product" moves hand after that, they get a small cut. But I believe Nafta need to be maintained, like a subscription. Not sure by whom.

He not only created and published a new relevant work every day (not something even half every artist is doing), he also gave FREE tutorials, fostered a new generation of designers that looked up to him, and gave away his work for free and even provided it in a format usable by VJS for music festivals which is a job in and of itself. He provided immense value to hundreds of thousands of people for free for a decade. I wouldn’t call it luck I would truly say that just goes to show what you put out into the world can circle back to you and that is beautiful.
