Hi Meredith. Well bless your heart, this is WONDERFUL news! My husband and I love love love beer battered fish. But I, unfortunately, due to health reasons, can no longer have anything deep fried, fatty, acidic or spicy. And tah dah, here you are with this wonderful recipe to air fry it. I am so thrilled I can hardly stand it. I am going to go get some fish this weekend so as I can do this. I mean, baked and broiled are great, but sometimes you just gotta have that fry taste. You are such a wonder when it comes to recipes and cooking and I love you for it! Thank you so very much for making my day. Many hugs to you and have a great weekend. Claudia
Made this tonight and the only trouble I had was the fish sticking to the air-fryer, even after spraying both the fish and the fryer basket. Next time I will use parchment paper (with holes) on the bottom to help prevent this. Great recipe!! Mahalo nui loa!! 🌺
Flour the fish first then then batter the fish then flour again. Flouring the fish first will stop the batter sliding off the fish and stop it falling off the fish. Basic 101 in cooking.
This looks DELICIOUS! Thanks for the recipe. Since my gall bladder removal, no more deep fried fatty foods for me. This is right up my alley. Im making this TONIGHT
Do we need to flip the fish mid cooking? You didn't seem to do so but many other videos say it's needed for the food to cook evenly. My air fryer is arriving in 2 days and I have been writing down simple recipes. Can't wait to try them all ☺️❤️
@@bobtheguymk2 Best way to not have it be soggy is dry fish, toss in flour till coated, dip in batter, and then you can fry it how you want. Will be crisp all around.
Beer battered Cod where I live in Thailand is say $ 11 dollars and its done well English style with chips mushy peas etc. However doing the math between the cost of an Air-fryer here, plus food, cod fillets and chips etc for a family of 3. You would only need to use it 3 or 4 times and the appliance has paid itself back...........Ok am in and this video was great and better style it all came out looking yummy.
Traditionally, it is used on fried fish and chips because it's acidic and cuts the fat so that it doesn't upset your stomach or make you fat! Lemon juice can be used with fried fish for the same reason. There are all sorts of accompaniments for meat containing fat to help out such as horseradish for beef, mustard for ham, apple with pork and cranberry with fowl.
@@34littleb I tried it last night with halibut and a premade beer batter. I don't think I shook off enough flour due to not wanting the batter to fall off. I was good, but a little too white , even after adding more oil
kissed61 yes I’m still not convinced an air fryer will do a great job of fish in batter? My hubby live his cod in beer batter but obviously trying to find a healthier option to Deep frying 😏 thanks for letting me know
@@34littleb So far the only really good results I have had with fish in the air fryer , is naked. A light coating of spiced flour might be the only other way to go.
@@34littleb Hi yall, been enjoying catfish nuggets with regular Louisanna Cajun spicy fish batter cooked in air fryer, not as tasty as beer batter but I don't put any oil at all. Wash in water, dip in dry batter in bowl and put in air fryer. An Innsky 10.6 quart window in removable door. No oil, No special "Air Fryer Batter" just regular Louisanna. You'll like this, almost as good deep fried. Compared to best deep fried, about a 94 score

INGREDIENTS 1 CUP all-purpose flour 2 TABLESPOONS cornstarch ½ TEASPOON baking soda 6 OUNCES beer 1 egg beaten ¾ CUP all-purpose flour ½ TEASPOON paprika 1 TEASPOON salt ¼ TEASPOON freshly ground black pepper PINCH cayenne pepper 1½ POUNDS cod cut into 4 or 5 pieces vegetable oil INSTRUCTIONS Combine the 1 cup of flour, cornstarch and baking soda in a large bowl. Add the beer and egg and stir until smooth. Cover the bowl of batter with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. Combine the 3/4 cup of flour, paprika, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper in a shallow dredging pan. Pat the cod fish fillets dry with a paper towel. Dip the fish into the batter, coating all sides. Let the excess batter drip off and then coat each fillet with the seasoned flour. Sprinkle any leftover flour on the fish fillets and pat gently to adhere the flour to the batter. Pre-heat the air fryer to 390°F. Generously spritz both sides of the coated fish filets with vegetable oil and place them in the air fryer basket. Air-fry for 12 minutes at 390ºF. Spritz with more oil during the cooking process if there are any dry spots on the coating. Serve immediately with lemon wedges, malt vinegar and tartar sauce. It’s perfect with some air-fried French fries and coleslaw too!
if you are combining things with your flour, do it during your sifting phase, you will have a more equal distribution of your ingredients that way then just lumping it in when its still in the bowl, not after, it drives me crazy when people dont to this......... amitures.......... 🤔🤔🤨
GOD loves you enough to send HIS only SON to save you and if you repent and turn from your sins and be baptized in THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT. ((if you haven't )
