I have used wire in the piping around the edge of the brim. It was a PITA to work with. The method I use now is applying heat (heat gun) and then massaging the brim upwards applying more pressure around the area close to the crown. The brim will try to buckle, so it's a delicate process. Try to bend the front and back down as you work the sides upwards. Wrinkles are almost 100% unavoidable but can be minimized by taking your time and working those sides up. The last thing is to lasso a string, strap, elastic or something around to force it to hold its shape. I let my hats sit overnight or longer like this so they form. Hope this helps!
