For anyone reading this comment, I hope you have a wonderful day today! Relax, you deserve a break! You can do anything you put your mind to! I wish you the best!!
Jordi Savall is an absolute legend. I've seen him live in Seattle many times with his small ensembles. This performance is stunning. Adding to the effect is hearing this on a new set of wired headphones that allowed me to hear sections of the orchestra I usually only hear in the concert hall. Wonderful!
Wonderful performance, but if you now have a proper set of headphones, I have to say that Andres Orosco-Estrada's renditions of all Beethoven stuff (and much else) with the Frankfurt Orchestra is recorded and forwarded with such incomparably better audio quality - as does Paavo Jarvi's work, and Klaus's work on the 9th at least with the Oslo Philharmonic. I'd love to have this video with super hi-fi audio, but it's really rather muddy and blurry for such an important song.
Thank you everyone who was playing this and specially to RU-vid and this channel that makes it possible to listen to this incredibly amazing masterpiece
Try Andres Orosco-Estrada, Klaus with the Oslo Philharmonic (I can never spell his last name), or Paavo Jarvi - all of these are done just as well (if not better) but the audio quality is just beyond compare, and for this piece clarity of all the music is mandatory IMHO.
Not content in making an excellent interpretation, Savall's style of conducting is wonderful: he uses a baton and a score, has very precise movements and does not shake his whole body during the finale just to "look cool".
Beethoven. Ejecutada on instrumentos de la época, LO MAS PROXIMO AL SONORIDAD QUE SE PUDO OIR EL DIA DE SU ESTRENO. Ese es el valor de esta interpretación. NO ES POCA COSA.
I have several collection versions of BEETHOVEN'S Symphony No. 9, and I feel that every conductor has his or her own unique interpretations of performance. I am so grateful that I am listening to different versions of the 9th Symphony, finding BEETHOVEN'S exciting differences in each interpretation, not unwilling or strange to hear! Therefore, that's the reason to love BEETHOVEN and all the SYMPHONY works of his!
I just heard the studio version released recently together with symphonies 6, 7 and 8 and I'm at a loss for words, this is a gigantic contribution to the canon of the best recorded performances of Beethoven's symphonies - of all, not just the ones with period instruments. So fresh, so enjoyable, so alive and so well recorded!
Meraviglia! Memories...
I love this symphony. I listen to it at least once a month. This is the first time I've heard the first movement at 148 bpm. It's refreshing and exhilarating.
I have never heard the tempos better--the tenor's "march" in B-flat major hewing much better to Beethoven's intended dotted half note = 84 (instead of Beethoven's nephew Karl getting it wrong with a dotted quarter note = 84)--and with so many other excellent tempos, particularly the vivid ending! It all just fits better. Mr. Savall conducts a bit like very late Mahler: not with a lot of motion, but with such superb and extraordinary results.
Another beautiful special performance for my collection. Thanks to Jordi and all the Musicians that keep those lovely original instruments playing. A truly beautiful Jewel.
One of the best concerts at all, perfect choir, perfect violins, Jordi Savall is just amazing. Thank you for uploading this kind of masterpiece! Bravo!
Jordi has an impressive musical sense. His performances are always stunning. He is perfectly capable to become audible some reaggeton plays. Obviously it's mandatory enjoying this performance!!!❤❤❤
AMAZING DIRECTOR¡¡¡!!!! CONTRAFAGOT APLAUSO EN PIE
It is fascinating to listen to Savell's orchestra performing the 9th with the original musical instruments. LvB created an elixir melody for the soul. Kudos for a superb performance to VOX VONA Chamber choir of Kreuzkirche Bonn, Le Concert des Nations orchestra and conductor Jordi Savall.
Beautiful! Highly expressive and lyrical approach to the music-the finale in particular came off exceedingly well, no shrillness from the voices, no histrionics, just a stirring conclusion. Savall had the performance well in hand.
Manuel Walser - baritone ~ I absolutely fainted dead away when this extraordinarily soloist began his part. This man has a voice to send shivers up and down your spine - and his looks are spellbinding. All the soloists were superb, and though I am not a big fan of "original instruments" this orchestra was tremendous. Jordi Savall is in charge of the whole performance, and as usual, is calm and collected to the nth degree! Beethoven will be around long after all of we have left this miserable world.
love it! love the interesting timbres of the instruments. the stopped horn-sounds and weird contrabassoon! everything about this performance is so beautiful.
The orchestral sound is great. I especially love the growl of the contrabassoon! But I may be too accustomed to earlier Romantic performances to appreciate some of these tempos. The Adagio especially left me a little cold; I'm used to a much slower tempo there. Still, the other three movements make up for it. I really like the quickstep tempo in the Alla Marcia, with the honking contrabassoon.
I listened to this track many times while studying or working on schoolwork. It was amazing and I loved it. Now, I listen to it occasionally and it's still epic and amazing, despite the number of times I've listened to the entire track. Definitely recommend as study music.
Why do the chorals sound so amazing? Like. Unnaturally beautiful, almost different from any other rendition, not that the others are bad. These just sound. I'm not even sure how to describe it. Gorgeous work
My first experience with Classical music was when I was in 5th grade my music teacher took us on a Class Field trip to see a live Orchestra playing in person I had no idea what they were playing I was just a kid!! Now 2023 I'm 29 years old now know all the great Composers!! I felt bad that the Orchestra's stopped playing due to the Coronavirus pandemic 3 years ago in March 13, 2020 when the World Shutdown!!!!
Thank you! I'm really in need of uplifting anything, and this was perfect. I've sung this probably 15 times, and every conductor brings something new. Excellent soloists, choir, and so fun to hear period instruments!
A big Klemperer fan here: Yeap, it's played rather fast and sometimes loud and rarely kind of blurred/lacking articulation. BUT, and this is a pretty huge but. 9th is about transferring Emotions. 9th should make you cry, if you are still breathing. This version with its aggresivity conveys fury, despair and tears, not tranquility. And it is very good so. So, LvB would be and is honoured by this interpretation. Also clear that the 1st movement is exceptional, superb sound, balance, sonority, counterpoint. 2nd is rather hastened for my taste. 3rd lacks kind of colour. Now, 4th, a quite difficult call, LvB made it not easy here for any interpreter. Chor and voices, esp. Bass, are superb, diamond clarity. I also esp. like the dance like approach in alla marcia, before and at "wie ein Held zum Siegen". Now, percussion in 4th mov. should be more intense, it's kind of defused. All in all, a fresh, emotional, consequent to itself approach.
They use 432hz tune, not the common 440-445hz we’re used to listen to. That’s because 432hz was reconized as the most natural and harmonic tune, both Beethoven and Mozart preferred composing in lower tune.
