I bought the Angel reissue sixty years ago. Despite its technical shortcomings, it has always been my favorite classical record. More recently, I have listened to digital restorations, but this tops them all. This is like hearing it again for the first time! Thank you so much for your skill and work.

Wonderful sound and intonation. The phrasing and musicality surpass many performances of this masterwork by leading violinists today.

In combing thru your older uploads, I was absolutely delighted to find this one. Best sound I've heard for this recording. As a Mahler devotee, I'm always interested in recordings by artists who appeared in concert under his direction and Kreisler is among the all time greats on that list. As to this performance, it's vintage Kreisler, played in a style that largely belongs to history now. Barbirolli handles the accompaniment pretty well, keeping the orchestra balanced with his soloist, as one expects from a conductor of his caliber. A belated thank you, Paul.

"That's the cadenza I wish I'd have written!" - Beethoven. 18:40 This is the first time I've been able to hear the high upper register notes. Great engineering!

A performance with deep emotion. Kreisler surpassed his earlier recording with Blech .

I remember listening to this recording a while back, I don't think on your channel. I just remember that, while a lot of things were audible, the noise really did get in the way. This, on the other hand, is really enjoyable to listen to, and I'm loving hearing Kreisler's and Barbirolli's interpretation. I'm about halfway through the cadenza - it's refreshing to hear it played by its composer, though I've gotten kind of tired of it from others :P From the other recording I had the impression the orchestra weren't very good, but that might have been a different recording. Having a look around RU-vid, it might have been the Kreiser/Blech. Incidentally, I looked up 'Kreisler plays Beethoven' and this video didn't show up. Just pointing it out in case you care about search optimisation :P

It has style, and Kreisler’s bow technic is much more diversified .. dynamic, shades. Also the vibrato is exquisite, and deeply connected to the phrasing…

@@AndreyRubtsovRU He wrote the cadenzas, and todays performers love them… ha ha ha. And the greatest of any violinist of the past or contemporary are all in consensus to assert that Kreisler was on the top list of the few giants. Kreisler changed every aspect of violin playing and was the first to use continuous vibrato. He influenced all the young players of his days, such as Heifetz, Seidel and Oistrach… Heifetz had only one picture in his studio: Fritz Kreisler. The beauty of Kreisler’s sound and unique vibrato has never been surpassed. This recording was made nearly at the end of Kreisler’s career. Listen to his earlier recordings 1912-18. His technic at the time was phenomenal. His double- stops fantastic… and he could truly sing. Nowadays, violinist can rock. But their sound, inspiration are defective in many aspects. Kreisler was also a fantastic pianist and composer. He knew many languages, Latin Ancient Greek, history, studied médecine, knew Sigmund Freud and Johannes Brahms ( Kreisler owned the original manuscript of the Brahms concerto). He was also wounded during the First World War in the tranché. He was highly educated, annd this is the main problem with young players nowadays: they are totally ignorant and illiterate!!!! For your own education, you can compare with any recordings of modern violinists like Ehnes, or older ones like Perlman… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z_x5vxLevHw.html

Why? Technology in strings and materials are far away from Kreisler epoque. This is the reason we like to listen, but you cannot compare to modern violinist with play with incredible perfection in sound

Am I correct in believing that the beautiful 1st. Movement cadenza was Kreisler’s own ?.
