What a wonderful little oscillator and what an excellent demonstration of its possibilities. I immediately want to try it out and integrate it into my system. Thank you.

That looks like a fun VCO. Who'd like to see BEFACO's take on an LPG next?

Just bought the niftycase. I think this will be my first module. Nice little diy project, and I'm really into circuity that can take the basic analog waveforms into complex wavetable territory. And the built in VCA is very welcome! need a bunch of these 😍

That's really nice! Great review. I was looking at the Instruo tsl for a compact oscillator, but this has peaked my interest now. Cheers Robin.

Im selling my Ts-L for this, just ordered. The Ts-L has multiple wave outputs, which is fun. But this has TZFM, which is why I’m changing

Love the wavefolder, super unique! And having more features than the Even VCO at half the size and a lower price is a no-brainer!

There seems to be a hundred ways to do wavefolders and Befaco ones seem to always sound excellent!

Great demo Robin! There's a lot to like about it and I do think it sounds nice and is a clever design. I just dislike the whole SMALL trend, I mean, look at the size of my fingers and think of usability and pleasure in using. But then it probably is specifically made for a small rack, where I can see it fits very nicely.

I often used Kickall in the role of VCO in the VCV Rack. And I'm not the only one. The appearance of Pony was to be expected. 😁

I had the physical version in my rack for over a year and I used it way more as a melodic voice than I did as a kick!

Sounds good, and packs quite a bit of sound into 4hp. Are your arps a function of the keystep, or triggering an external module? Have you tried running your TZFM mod osc through some processing - attenuator, filter etc

My only problem is that you tend to make everything sound great, so is it the module, or just you?! Anyway, this module sounds amazing! Great video!

octaves and tune ranges plus are great. wavefolder and pwm sound great. more or less i like everything about it, except the sound of thru zero, which appears peticularly harsh. on both demos thus far. perhaps its was the modulator used or amplitude etc, but thus far, must admit i prefer more musical tzfm results you get from something like Neoni, Rubycon, Operat etc.

Kinda wanna replace my Hysteria/Eudemonia with Pony VCO/Pony VCF now. Twice the price, half the hp and quite tasty sounding...

Sounds really lovely, and me gusto mucho Befaco.... but 180 Euros just for the *kit*...? It's only a 4HP double-sided PCB, what have they got in there that's so expensive?
@MoltenMusicTech
@MoltenMusicTech Год назад
I think because it’s 3 modules in one. It’s not really much cheaper for them to provide a kit considering the time it takes to pick an pack up the components so I think you’re getting a decent deal for the joy of building it yourself.
@streamtracker
@streamtracker Год назад
150 for the kit on their website, which is 60 less than the build version. And all you have to do is attach the panel with a little hardware, and do a quick calibration.
@BappinProductions
@BappinProductions Год назад
No one else has managed to squeeze as much functionality from the SSI2130 VCO chip (which I'm assume Pony uses, given its feature-set) into 4HP, so it falls down to simple business really. They have a relatively unique product and they're charging a premium for it, simple as that really, imo anyway "Good value" is in the eye of the beholder as it were; once you have built a few modules with components sourced yourself from Mouser etc., even premade kits from Befaco et al start looking a bit pricey by comparison. Most of my attention at the moment is focused on NLC modules because I can build most of the ones I'm interested in for about £80 or less, depending on the complexity and bulk buying discounts etc.
@pixelfrenzy
@pixelfrenzy Год назад
@@BappinProductions Yeah, my main question really still stands - what the hell is in there that makes it so expensive? (If I understand your suggestion correctly, then nothing really - they're aiming to benefit from being unique in the market, and nothing wrong with that at all!) Nearly all the modules I own I've built myself from PCB+Panel kits (sourcing all the parts myself) or PCB+pre-soldered-SMT + panel and generally jacks and pots. This is because I can't justify spending £200-300 on a module unlike many others.
@pixelfrenzy

@@streamtracker 181 Euros on their website... are you viewing in USD by any chance? Massive advantage on the exchange rate right now!
@BeniRoseMusic
@BeniRoseMusic Год назад
Kind of weird that the position of the timbre fader for "no fold" also means "no sound" for the square wave. I think I would've preferred they limit the pulse width range than go with that option.
