Water Retention Dams ROCK!!! Though I didn't see any rocks in the course of our work - otherwise there'd be a water fall next we'd be adding to aerate the water with a solar pump (I may have to acquire or buy rocks to make that part happen).
Have you thought about putting in a pond? This was 4.5 days of work - my oldest son and I thought the younger one did get to try it all out for a bit. It was so much fun!! This is just the beginning!!!

Nice 👍🏻, did you use all the dugout material on site making the downhill side berm around the ponds? How high did you make them above the original elevation? IIRC in sw pa if the surrounding elevation is not built up more than 3ft, then can avoid permit requirement

A dam/pond wall ought to be made from tightly sealed clay, and to get to this level, you add layer by layer of dug out clay, while drive some heavy machinery after each layer.
