(1-18-2012/3-16-2018) The 1953 Monarch/Dover Freight elevator has been modernized/murdered. Look at the before and after. This is also the video where I discovered my Handycam 760V died :(

Also, if this was actually installed in 1953, this got to have originally been installed by Monarch, then Dover came in & did some work to it, as back in '53, it was still the Rotary days.

Could be a lot worse, and Sam Sitar (Balarick) got to see it. The freighter at FSU. Same elevator, just brutally redone, especially the front of the cab with a new door nowhere near as wide.

While I am upset that this rare lift got *fully replaced,* I'm certainly not too upset b/c at least they went with Prestige instead of something more generic & bland like NEMA 4X.

As sad as it is to see the old elevator go, this is not a bad mod. It is also the first time I’ve seen a freight elevator use Innovation Prestige. As positive as I am, I wish this hadn’t replaced the old elevator.

Well, nice for a new fright elevator installation, but terrible as modernization of the 1953 vintage fright Dover elevator. If the old elevator was still working properly w/o safety/code issues why mod it? It appears the counterweight frame was perhaps location parallel to the guide rail at an angle with a deflector sheave. From what saw of the hoist ropes it was a 1:1 roping. There is no way it could be on the back of the shaft, with the rear opening.

The only thing I like about this replacement job is that they made the new doors power operated. Everything else though was just a waste of money. :'(

Also, I heard the Reynolds Coliseum got renovated & they installed 2 new Schindler elevators (records). Do you know if that Dover freight elevator's still there? Or has it been modded/replaced?

I liked the original elevator better. At least they didn't used Innovation Universal, Security, or Bruiser for the fixtures.

SAME WITH YHE UNIVERSITY SERVICES BUILDING PSU That GORGEOUS Montgomery G&P BD Traction Elevator But ThyssenKrupp COMPLETELY REPLACED it, I almost got stuck in it ALREADY!! But hey, I got an intermediate station already and THANK GOD I made it before it got modded. PLUS, It runs better after I revisited it but still, I prefer the G&P better, again, I like the mod tho at the USB PSU!!

This is sad. There really wasn't a reason to pull out a freighter. The antique was thrown out like trash. I bet the new one won't even last half the period the old one did.
