I figured I'd come here to share this incase anyone has an upcoming procedure. I took one nasal spray of Desmopressin before surgery and homeopathic arnica tablets and I had practically no bruising! a little swollen, light yellowness under my eyes but oh my gosh I felt fabulous and everyone was stunned at how great it turned out. I highly recommend because it totally helped my recovery. Other than the cast on my nose it was like nothing happened.

Hello Dr. Yoo, what a beautiful work with two sisters, one of the sisters was shown on youtube, her nose was very similar to my nose until the changes!! My nose was done in Japan many years ago, and it was very successful, but the problem is Dr used a some kind of artificial material? After many years, my nose changes with getting older, and I'm very embarrassed by my nose, and the question is, I'm old, it might be possible can be fixed? Can you highlight the purpose of avoiding exercise post-op? Is this to avoid increased blood pressure that may increase the chance of bleeding? As well as avoiding and mechanical pressure that puts a pt at risk of injuring the nose?

Thanks Dr. Yoo. Some questions. I know about surgery and western medicine saying "no supplements" but could this be considered (no offense) to be an extension of western medicine's lack of knowledge about supplements? Ginger would be preferred by people like me for nausea rather than taking drugs. I have seen it do wonders for nausea and rapidly with no potential side effects and less cost. And what about the benefits of tumeric? Magnesium is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It helps to maintain normal nerve and muscle function, supports a healthy immune system, keeps the heartbeat steady (I do believe it saved me from a cardiac event), and helps bones remain strong. It also helps adjust blood glucose levels. Vitamin C is another supplement I would want to take. If you are reading these comments I would ask: can you recommend from personal knowledge someone that does rhinoplasty in Seattle? Thank you Dr. Yoo. Take care all. (retired R.N.)

Since you make incisions in the head to get cartilage to build/shape the nose, what aftercare steps need to be followed? How long should showering or getting your hair done be avoided for?

Hi xod0llfacex3 After rhinoplasty the cast on the bridge of the nose should be kept dry for 1 week. The rest of the body may be bathed normally. In cases where fascia is used from the scalp, hair may be washed with bay shampoo and distilled water in 2 days.

Hi Dr. Yoo! Is it possible to achieve a symmetrical nose post-surgery? How likely will the nostrils be asymmetrical? I've been wanting an asian rhinoplasty with you because I have a slight bump on my nose bridge (similar to your client Kayla Kosuga's nose before surgery). My nose isn't really that wide or flat like many asian noses, but it is a bit bulbous/round at the tip. I would like to see more definition/refinement at the tip and at the bridge from the front view by adding a bit more height. I heard it's not uncommon for the nostrils to be a bit uneven after rhinoplasty- I'm scared of messing that up since I think my nostrils are currently pretty symmetrical. :(

Hi Kim Vo The goal of surgery is always to achieve improvement, and the same goes with symmetry. Perfect symmetry does not exist before or after surgery, but improved symmetry is usually possible.

Ive never smoked for the last 4 years. But I smoked 2 cigarettes 2 days before my scheduled rhinoplasty. Will it affect the procedure? Should i reschedule the procedure? Is it recommended for people with hair in their nose to find ways in trimming/shaving it before the surgery?

Hi brittany smith While excessively long nose hairs (visible beyond the nostril) should be trimmed, for the majority of patients this is not necessary prior to surgery. Just keep in mind that if you are going to groom, to do so with sufficient time for the lining of your nose to heal fully (usually 1 week is sufficient).

I've been wanting an asian rhinoplasty with you! However, I live in Chicago. Is a virtual consultation as informative as an in-person consultation? If I decided to get surgery done with you, would it be required to come in person in advance of the surgery date for an exam/in-person consultation too?

Hi xod0llfacex3 A virtual consultation is quite similar to an in-person consultation, and most patients do find it very useful and informative. The limitation of not allowing for a full examination of your nasal anatomy and airway does make the surgical plan subject to a final in-person exam, which is required prior to surgery. Many of my out of town/out of country patients will fly in the day before surgery to meet with me in person, then have surgery the following day.

Hi this1hmongFem I can't comment on his Asian Rhinoplasty expertise since I have not seen him work on Asian patients. As a patient it's important to look at a surgeon's before and afters. If you see noses that are similar to yours before surgery, and results after surgery that appeal to you aesthetically, that's a step in the right direction. Warm regards

Hi Doc! I’ve had my nose implanted with goretex. My worry is that it’ll shrink too much. I’ve been googling it and i found answers saying that it won’t shrink but I also found answers saying that it will. Which one is true ? Thank you !
