@@coreycongilio yeah this brand really do the extra work for the players 👌 I was blown away the first time I tried one. Has been my number one guitar for function gigs since. I had some issues with tuning stability as well and was fixed by replacing the original 3 springs by 5 thicker springs, adding string guides on the headstock and the nut slots widen a bit like for you. I might have an older version cause I do not have the coil split but do have the treble bleed. Maybe they changed these at some point. Amazing video as usual thanks for the great content!

I had my heart set on a Fender Pro II Strat in Miami Blue but was also side eyeing a S7. I couldn't justify almost $2k for a guitar that wasn't worth it so went for the Sire S7 FM Blue. Glad I made that choice. The savings also allowed me to get an amp I've been wanting for 7 years, a Roland JC40. Super happy all the way around with BOTH! My Sire arrived in PERFECT condition from Sweetwater and it was a demo!

I love mine. It’s the guitar I still always grab to play to this day. I’ve had it for almost a year now. That edgeless fretboard curve is so comfortable and smooth that it’s still a joy to play every time. I also did have to slightly cut the nut, but a very small fix for such a big quality instrument

I own an S7 and an L7 and have been playing them for over a year. Feedback: the L7 is a total monster and is one of my gig guitars wherever we play. Only mod was a coil split for the neck HB, which made it super versatile. The S7 is a great value for the $. I found the bridge HB in it very thin (maybe good for jazz) but I upgraded it to a SD Pearly Gates and now it can cover any rock cover tune we play. Incredible bargain for under $700, and yes should come with a gig bag. If you handed either to me, asked me to review them and I did not know the price, I would have guessed around the $1000 mark.

So, if you change the volume potentiometer and buy a bag, there are basically zero cons… for just 700 bucks. That is seriously impressive! 😳 Excellent playing and great setup! 👍
@SamiKankaristo
@SamiKankaristo 9 месяцев назад
It's not the volume pot itself, but the volume circuit. He mentions that it needs a treble bleed circuit, which allows treble frequencies to pass ("bleed") through even when turning down the volume pot. Without it, treble gets turned down more than lower frequencies. It's just a capacitor and a resistor, costs maybe a buck, and anyone handy with a soldering iron can do it.

There is nothing to fault with the Sire range. There price point is insane for the build quality, finish and tone. H7 and S7 are game changers that Epiphone and Squire options have failed to deliver with for years. Nothing worse than buying a new guitar from a company with history and you have to take it to a shop to have build issues fixed inorder to have it properly set up. Sire has seen this gap in the market and kicked the door down with their superb product that delivers out of the box and would not look out of place at any gig. Well done Sire, all the success in the world to you.

Agreed. Sire is simply a quality instrument at an affordable price. I have to add that I played my share of Suhr Strats (and other expensive brands) which supplied great and balanced tones but most were consistent with the same quality control issues....fret issues, nut issues. This the issue for a Strat that is north of $2500, and really my biggest issue for any bolt-on neck Tele or Strat-style guitar at price points far higher than what was a huge advantage for that type of guitar.......the fact that the selling point was simple design equates to affordability. I have issue swith Tele/Strat models that cost more than a Gibson 335. I guess I shouldn't mention the cost of a PRS without the possibility of having a stroke.

Not good, do not buy them. My story. Beginning of September I purchased one from Thomann SIRE S7 HSS. To my dismay the action was nearly half inch high, electrical configuration was a disaster both dials stop at 5 not 10 dull sound from G string on fret one and two. So sent it back and they sent me back same guitar action dropped perfectly but dials still messed up , quiet frankly they are a heap of shit. It’s also a 50/50 of getting a perfect guitar online so my advice is. No matter how far away you are before you purchase online to go to a store and play them and deposit on the guitar you want to buy or just buy it there . Because if you have to send it back for the second time your faith is gone on the guitar you have never even played yet. Now I go for refund and never buy a Sire ever again . Absolutely the crappiest guitar I bought and anyone on RU-vid telling me that they got no discount or a free guitar perfectly designed and checked before they put it on RU-vid are joking me. The time I spent 6 weeks total to send it back and now I send back this heap of crap also and refund my money and now I travel over 300km to try other guitars like fender Strat MN for and extra 280€ What a disaster of 6 weeks and now another month of travelling to find a left hand that I can play and feel good about when I play it. Please and I say please again do not purchase from anywhere online, go to the store and purchase it there.

Hi Cory, Just found your site. I have a Sire S3 on order at Sweetwater. Can't wait to get it. I am an old Fender guy that got my first guitar, a Fender Jaguar, in 1963. Learned to play in one year, paid my way ever since and never looked back. Now, I just sit around and play for myself. I learned a lot by going to music venues and watching guitar players. It was expensive but it worked. I can watch a guitarist and pick up what they're playing. Thanks for not only reviewing the Sire but for showing me a bunch of new and "tasty" licks. I'll be a new subscriber! Man, if only I'd had youtube way back them. Guys like you are like gold to me. ;-)) Shalom/gw (which means I wish ALL of God's blessings upon you!)

Bought an S7FM a month ago, an I love it. Sounds great, the best neck on any guitar I've played in 55 yrs. Tho I think the guy that works at the nut station needs to pay more attention to what he's doing. I replaced the nut on mine. All the slots were cut way too deep. The E, B and G strings buzzed out and it wouldn't stay in tune even with a 10-46 string change and lubrication. A simple a cheap fix.👍 Thanks Corey for great channel content 🤘😎🎸

Another great video, Cory. I am a huge PRS fan and have a wonderful collection of several PRS guitars but no Strat version... yet. I think this video did for me though so one may be coming very soon! Since you mentioned how critical it is to have the nut setup properly I am going to offer my 2 cents on this subject for what its worth. I have been playing Strats for 50 years. Still have my '61 sunburst Strat from when I was a kid along with a few that I put together myself along the way. The one thing that solved all of my nut/tremolo related tuning issues was the installation of the Fender Rolling nut. I think they cost $25 (?) With it I can now count on my trem to stay in perfect tune as though it was a Floyd Rose. I seldom have to tune my Strats that have the rolling nut. That said, I seldom play my '61 these days because it's like going back to all of the issues I suffered with all those years before the rolling nut came along. There's a reason why Jeff Beck has had these on his Strats for years. It was an absolute necessity for the very precise, delicate trem that defined his style in the later years. I know that this new PRS Strat with a 2-point trem will stay in tune far better than the old school ones but when I buy my PRS Strat I will still install the Fender rolling nut. They are just that good. Nice playing too, brother! Keep up the great work.

But my Fender didn't buzz so much, and it didn't have to have such a high action. Do I regret buying it? Well I have to have it plecked, And it Will still be cheaper than a Fender equivalent (I guess Player Plus), but I wish they paid attention more on playability than bling

I have the same guitar in antique white. I wasn't worried about the lack of a case as I have plenty of cases and gig bags. But one thing to note, the body of the Sire is not exactly the same as a Fender strat. The upper horn is slightly longer and the lower horn is slightly shorter than on my American Standard strat. So if you have (or want to buy) a nice case with a strat shaped foam cut-out, the Sire might not fit. It doesn't fit in my Fender branded molded ABS case anyway.

A few other guys did reviews of it, and actually like it better than the H7. I’m very pleased with the overall quality, and ind it to be a very inspiring instrument. Just a short aside about the H7-last year I saw Larry Carlton on his farewell tour. He actually played an H7 that night. After the show I talked to his guitar tech. He said they had to do a fair amount of tweaking to it, but Larry thought it was good enough to take on the road. Good enough endorsement for me!

I've got this guitar in this colour, it's very very good. The only criticism I'd have is the low E seems to have a buzz even with a bit more relief and it doesn't seem to be coming from the nut either. Saying that its only noticeable because the other strings and frets are setup so perfect and still better than most guitars. The neck is incredible. The pickups are not quite as good as my American Floyd rose deluxe but not far off and costs much less. I usually hate the neck pickup on a strat but on here it sounds very good. You wouldn't regret buying one

I had that issue too with my new S7 that only the low E string had (fret?) buzz, especially when played a bit louder. Even with a bit more relief it was still present and only on that string. I solved it by just increasing the action of that string. Would you say that's the right thing to do?

Hello Corey, There are some guitar players on RU-vid I'd like to see everyday in my neighborhood and you are mainly part of them. Now Godin begins to reach high prices. I sold it. What a nut I've been. I will surely buy one of the Sire LC guitars this summer. Maybe the S7 FM with bridge double mic , the S7 you show here, the T7 FM, the H7 with P90's... I still don't know. What is sure is that you always make guitar presentations with wisdom and transparency and you play, wow, I enjoy watching and listening. Love rolling the bass down to about 8-9 and the volume down to 7 for clean tones, then when using a fuzz u can go anywhere u want with the knobs to shape the gain and tone of the fuzz. Such a powerful tone shaping tool and i think everyone should experiment with their guitar controls more. That Sire sounds fantastic. Thinking about trying out the Sire LV7 for that p90 Les Paul type if guitar.

Hey Corey! I have a Sire S7 in Transparent Black. I actually got it shipped from Europe about a year ago, it was quite difficult to find it here. I got it for a joke of a price (less than $550). I love that guitar, agree with all you said. However, I must say, I later got the Sterling Cutlass CT50 HSS and dude ... I must say I love that one even better and it was even cheaper. Both are terrific guitars, love them both. The Cutlass features all the same things, but is higher output pickups, responds better to the volume and also is a bit better playability. Love both these guitars. If you didn't try a cutlass, I would recommend it. Thanks for the video man.

Hey Corey I have my eye on a Sire S3, I can’t afford an S7.. I originally was looking at the Squire Classic Vibe Strats but when I found out what type of cheap parts they use from the small style of pots for volume and tone and thin cheap tremolo block the Sire guitars seemed like a no brainer to look more into.. I am patiently saving up for my Sire S3 I can’t wait to have it in my hands.. Nice review by the way.. Craig

Strangely I tried 3 in a shop, all had that terrible degree of roll-off of treble on the volume but then ordered a cheap gen 2 FM return... 1. It was a lot lighter than others, 2 the volume worked OK. No treble bleed as far as I could see 🤔 Love the jamming 👍

O.K...If your not getting paid for this spot, you d..n well should be. I have heard a lot people on the net selling this guitar who "are" getting paid and you are much better at it than they are. I have not really been into this guitar till I saw this vid and you ran it through the changes. Kudos too you. Just my 2 cents worth.

After checking all companies making Strat style guitars at midline or entry level Sire is by far and away the best value when considering the woods the nut material almost everyone except Sire is using poplar bodies and anything but rosewood fingerboards... I am going to purcahse one soon

Corey, just found your chanel. Great review, I found it to be very honest and fair. I own a T7 and a L7. The build quality is incredibly for the price point. Not bashing Fender but they are not in a position in there line up to offer a guitar with these features with out it costing big bucks. Thank you for the review, looking forward to many more. 😊

I use pickup position #2 all the time on my HSS strat. With overdrive, it sounds just like position #1, just with less gain. Try it. Play position #1 with quite a bit of gain, then switch to position #2 and play the same thing. It's like turning down the gain a bit. A lot of times in my cover band I use position #2 as a dirty rhythm tone while I'm singing. It has that same biting, humbucker tone, but a little cleaner, a little less output. It's the perfect thing in some cases.

I bought a t7 sire. It's a great guitar. I did have to have a new nut put on it because the factory was sub par. Top e would slip out during play but the guitar neck is good enough to have that and a proper setup done. The guitar is just as good as any 1400.00 dollar tele now.

Whew! I was a bit worried because I have 4 Sires on order (H7, L7, S7, T7). I research everything thoroughly and am glad to see that the cons you mentioned wouldn't have swayed my decision to purchase. I'm a lefty so they were ordered directly from Sire and are being built, but the guitars should ship in the August/September timeframe and I will post some feedback when they arrive. Thanks very much for such an in-depth review!

So just seeing your comments from about 7 mos ago and wondering how you like your Sire guitars now. I have the L7V w/ the P90s and love it! Wondered how the other ones compared? FYI also a lefty here so know the struggles of getting a decent mid-range guitar....

I sold every single one of them. They simply did not measure up and each had problems. Nothing major, but nonetheless problems I wasn't willing to live with. My collection is now complete with a total of 14 guitars, which was culled down from 24. I have my eye on one more, but it will be my desert island guitar and take the place of 2 or 3. So, in the next few weeks I'll end up with a dozen (6 acoustic & 6 electric) and be out of the guitar market. @@hartleysloan8191

Good video! I bought the L7. Took it in for a couple of frets that were off and a tone pot that was more linear. The tapered one didn’t do much till a big roll off right at the end. I still enjoy it. Good guitar for 600.

Yes I have this guitar . No push pull on mine so I can only presume they changed that later. I've had mine a few years in FM Blue which is a killer finish. To get a Fender or similar with the specs you'd likely be talking a few K more . It's an amazing guitar. What would make my guitar sound better though would be your hands lol. man you are a seriously great guitar player. I enjoyed watching this just to hear you play.

I’ve had my Sire MM V7 vintage 5 string for over a year now and it is by far the best bass I’ve played. Is it perfect, nope, but it is a damn good bass that has the tone I want and have been looking for in a price point that I can afford without having to buy brand-name.

I ended up going with a T7 rather than a Tele and couldn't be happier. The neck is awesome. I have similar feelings about the electronics, pickups are great but hit and miss at different volumes so I fiddle with the tone more.

Not a fan of roasted necks, i can't find my way in a dark club. Mother of pearl dots would have been better. But, it feels great in my hands. Pickups don't sound fender like nor does the humbucker sound gibson like. God bless all.

Guitar looks great, and your amazing chops highlight the guitar’s sounds very well! An amazing value for under $700! Roasted neck! For intonation improvement, I’ve used the Earvana Nut on my 1981 Walnut The STRAT, with Sperzal Locking Tuners. Stays in tune perfectly!

I recently bought sire s7v (les paul loaded with p90s). Great guitar (not only for the money) bit in general sense. Came in set up almost perfectly. Better then much more expesive gibsons or fenders i (used to) own.honestly said, after a while every guitar will have certain part I would consider upgrading anyhow. But I will be getting another Sire for sure - I think this is the only guitar i haven't felt I overpaid for the specs/playability etc (i do not own custom shop guitars). Regards to all..

How is the tuning stability?
@daves_
@daves_ 11 месяцев назад
A small spring (Ex: from a pen) fixes the Strat trem arm "floppy" issues. Just drop the spring in and then screw in the arm.

I went with the Sterling by Ernie Ball CT-50 instead of the Sire S7. They are essentially the same guitar. I prefer the EB headstock arrangement, as far as tuning stability goes, plus it has a 12" radius which I prefer over the 9.5 of the Sire.
