Awesome review, you’re pretty much spot on with everything, I have both hd560s and hd650 and I love swapping between them. The 560s is great for female vocals, just the right amount of energy without ever getting sibilant

I’m starting to think the 560’s are the perfect headphones for its price and actually just reveal how crappy everyone’s music is and that’s why people don’t like it because other headphones cover it up with it’s “sparkly treble”.

I used to have only Sennheiser products, but few years ago due to economical situation I wanted to get just 1 decent performing and decent priced headphone for gaming and music. So I went from HD650 (also sold the Topping DX3-Pro I had) to AKG K702 and got the E10K. From time to time I feel like getting back to the headphone game and get more pairs, get back to Sennheiser, but then I watch these videos and think like nah I'm good. To me, as I am not a basshead, the K702 is perfect all-rounder. I use Oratory's Harman EQ with a bit of tuning to my preference. Huge soundstage is perfect for FPS-games (also I use a bit different EQ for games to hear steps better etc.) and especially acoustic music and vocals sound really nice. In EU the K702 is 130-140€ and the E10K is like 60-70€, so you get a decent setup sub 200€. Also thanks for your videos bro :)!
@HomeStudioBasics
@HomeStudioBasics 2 года назад
You're welcome! Yeah i use the K702 for gaming and sound whore foot steps quite a bit ;) I'm pretty much always prepared for the enemy but sometimes it doesn't matter if your connection fails you. I've been watching a lot of kill cams lately and I'll have put half a clip into someone and they kill me. When I watch the kill cam it doesn't match what happened at all xD So it shows me basically standing there. A wise man once said Multiplayer (esp. Call of Duty) is all connection and it's very true.

@@efilnikufesina7532 At $140 new on amazon it is a Fantastic headphone, I bought this as well as a Sundara and a 6XX. I tested them with my Son and we loved the HD560S for it ability to give a true neutral sound with great instrument separation. But my Son decided ton the 6XX and I wanted the Sundaras. I decided on the Sundaras because they did every thing the HD560S but had better a fuller bass and also I was able to get a great deal on them about below $250, but I would say they are very close. I also am using a Schiitt Modi/Magni combo and they all sound amazing on that set up.

Since I am a noob, I could not fully understand everything, but things still made quite a bit of sense. In my country, the 560S, ATG702 and ATG712 Pro are all almost the same price. Which one would you recommend for Gaming (mostly adventure games and not FPS) and Movies (Atmos etc.) mostly (say 75%), and only a little bit of music (25%)

Hey man thank you! I have the 58X on my head now! There's something I really love about it even though in comparison to 560S it kind of has that overly holographic quality. In all honesty, I think it provides some extra liveliness that the 560S lacks even though the 560S is better tuned. Headphones are so weird.

This is very good discussion. The 560S sounds, I don’t know, like maybe not what I am used to in the treble. I like the 6XX, but it’s a bit too warm for me, I like the 600 more and for me it is worth it to pay a little more for it than the 560s or the 6XX. I have not seen or tried a K702, but I like my AKG K361 a lot. And I really like my Ananda

Nice review, thanks. I'm wondering if the 560s can reproduce low frequencies, like sub ? I need an open-back headphone for compose/mix music, but in my music style (dark techno) there is a lot of low frequencies, like sub, rumble... I know this headphone is quite flat and light on bass when listening music, etc..., but with an EQ, or with powerfull sub from a virtual synth, do you think this 560s can reproduce these low frequencies ? Sorry about the late comment. I'm a complete noob when it comes to sound so I wanted to understand something. I just upgraded from the Hyperx alpha (been using for years) to 560s. All the music sounds generally better, yet there is still this feeling of a cover I need to remove when compared to the Alpha, it is especially apparent in speech. Is this normal ? It is the same sort of feeling when you try a treble boost preset then remove it, everything suddenly sounds more blocked. Do I just need to get used to it?

I personally disliked the HD 560 S, lot of little things bothered me about it, but I agree the R70X is a much better headphone and is a headphone I prefer over HD 6xx series not just the HD 560 S. Not only is it technically better in basically every way to the HD 560 S, it also has an enjoyable musicality whereas the HD 560 S is quite dull and boring to listen to. The R70X does cost more though. For the same price as the HD 560 S, I'll take a DT 880 or an HD 6XX over the HD 560 S any day as those are more resolving headphones.

Hey man!! how are you doing? As we discussed, I ended up buying these headphones with the fiio k3 and its a pretty good combo but it still doesn't get loud enough for me in some songs, moreover talking about the build, I found the cushions to be really hard and sometimes they do feel a bit cheap compared to my sony noise canceling headphones, I don't mind the long cable but didn't get the big deal about openback as I'm not able to tell much difference against closedback though they are more airy and in some songs I do get the crazy "is someone in my room" vibes but in general I don't notice much but overall I do really love them as they are really clear and they have so much more range than my sony's although are a bit harsh to listen to sometimes, the area I was really disappointed in was gaming as while playing warzone sometimes multiple footsteps do merge together too much and sounds like they're coming from everywhere, I don't know if this game just has that bad of a sound effects but just something I noticed as gaming was a big priority, I hoped a little more separation or maybe I'm just too much of a dummy to understand the crazy upgrade I apparently got😅. But anyways, loved the review and keep doing what you're doing man, goodluck!!

Hey man thank you! Tough question. I'd probably just go straight for 6XX at the price. Soundstage won't be as good but it's still just a better buy imo. I'm a little biased against 500 series headphones to be honest, but to me it's just a better investment to get a 600 line headphone as I just have no use for a 560S or really any of them. homestudiobasics.com/the-5-best-audiophile-headphones-for-under-500/ As mentioned in the review, even though I have a 600 I also have a 702 for gaming so I guess it would also depend on if you do a lot of gaming/film. @HomeStudioBasics 2 года назад
Hey man! Yeah there's def a shelf there and it's more present than 702 for sure. 702's sub-bass rolls off more. Interesting question about the brightness I'd probably say 702 is a bit brighter but it's very close actually. You'll notice the 702 will sound crisper I think if that helps. The 560S' treble "peak" (if you can even call it that since I don't personally believe it's a bright headphone) can manifest when you're swapping headphones but if you're listening to it on its own the treble sounds just about perfect (maybe a tiny amount of peaky). 702 is similar in that I never find the treble peaky or sibilant.

Had to return the 6xx, the clamp and way they sat on my head really hurt my TMJ causing some ringing in my ears even after making them looser. I had an X2 for several years and still have a pc38x for the last year so a 560s would feel the same comfort wise which is good but after learning of the 702 I ordered that instead. Way I see it is it should be as comfortable as my X2s were but more resolving due to not being bass heavy. I'll likely end up using the 702s for awhile before splurging for something endgame like the 800s.

@@HomeStudioBasics Actually got X2HRs, the pads are way nicer than my original X2s they definitely changed them to some sort of memory foam type deal. After a few minutes on the head they disappear and are extremely comfortable. Couldn't say that for any other headphone I've tried so far. I'm quite content with the sound too, they really are an insane deal in audio. I did try the 560S, a bit too shouty and harsh for me. I think the most important thing in a headphone is definitely comfort first, sound second. I prefer a warmer sound and can appreciate a dose of bass which the X2s fulfill for me.

The HD600 has, like most Sennheiser the "Sennheiser veil". So anyone used to that would maybe react to a non-typical increase in treble in the upper range a bit. As long as it isn't shrill, sibilant and painful I see it as a good thing. Because it adds to clarity and range IMO. I have many Sennheiser headphones and at times I do wish they have a little bit more upper.
@durrantmiller8810
@durrantmiller8810 8 месяцев назад
For the 650s I would agree with that but not so much the 600s. If you look at measurements of the 600 they have some of the best treble measurements of any headphone when compared to the Harman curve. I know older 650s (6xx included) were definitely veiled thoiugh I've heard that newer itterations are better though. The 560s when compared to the harman curve defintely has some raised treble and upper mids. I'm not saying that that is bad you may just prefer more treble than the average person or your ears just aren't as senstive to treble, that's fine. I just think it's a reach to call the HD 600s veiled

Most people nowadays are just stupid. But that is my opinion. Those stupid people think they always know it better. Well, they do not. And they never will. I've been leaning towards buying these as an upgrade from the in ear headphones that come with a mobile phone purchase lol, as they seem to be well reviewed and they aren't super bass boosted (which I absolutely despise). With 560s the hype is so crazy to the point I almost bought one already having owned HD650, HD598, HD598CS and now HD599. This review made me second guessing so hopefully I'll stick to my EQed HD599, which has super energetic lively sound suitable for almost any genre. After listening to many HD5 series and reading some reviews I am confident most of the lineup is basically same sh*t with slight differences in tuning that can be easily fixed and adjusted to preference. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like 560s would not bring anything new to the table compared to 599, which surely has some 250hz bump resulting in boominess, but like I said easy to fix with EQ. Sennheiser HD560s has more neutrualish tunning out of the box and that's it basically. Not worth spending extra coin over 599 or even 579 often times at 80-100$ promo sales.

I bought the 560s a month ago , I was very exited to hear them ,I did a little burn in and started using them .At first I liked them a lot ,the bass is fast and detailed and goes deep the mids are very neutral and detailed .The problem with me began with the tremble ,to me it sounds too bright ,maybe its because of the unit I have or its what Andrew from the headphone show said about the clamping force. It makes everything sound thin and at the same time fatiguing .I tried eq them bassed on the THS measurements ,now I am not an eq expert I only tried to lower some db around 3k to 6k and they immediately sounded more natural to me ,the timber was much much better and the headphone felt that it had more body .After AB the eq on and off I thing that the headphone's peaky treble holds it back , again that is how it sounded to my unit and to my head with the clamping force

I really liked what they did with the bass shelf as it's not too much, and the mids to me are right, but yeah, the high end can sound kind of like.. overly glassy? Or something. To me, it's more subtle and def not as bright as other cans. It's also still a mostly 500 sounding headphone but I like the improvements they made. i have a hd599 is it worth to buy the 560s?
@HomeStudioBasics
@HomeStudioBasics 2 года назад
It will probably be a small upgrade yes, but not huge or anything. 560s is slightly more refined sounding and less sloppy than the others in the 500 series. Here are my complete thoughts: homestudiobasics.com/the-sennheiser-hd500-series/

Are these good headphones to begin with? it seems like in this price range it's all just preference, I won't really know what I'll like until I get them though will I?

They are almost immaculately tuned, yes. You may find them dull after a while though.

@@HomeStudioBasics the ol Dac said retired so I’m gonna get the atom dac+ instead, you think that’s fine? Also are the hd6xx good for rap or is there a better option, I was reading about the rate of diminishing returns and all that. Either way I’m excited to dive into the rabbit hole

HD 560s or HE400i? Been trying to find some comparisons for a while and haven't been able to.
@HomeStudioBasics
@HomeStudioBasics 2 года назад
I'd still lean towards 400i as it's planar and that sound tends to be more resolving that dynamic + the 560S for as good as it's tuned is still kind of just meh to me and mostly sounds like a 500 series headphone.

I want these cans for music production (Record, mixing and mastering) but i own a Ath M50x, should i buy them or just use my current headphones? Is the sound signature too much different?
@CrysisVN
@CrysisVN 6 месяцев назад
Bro in my experience the ath-m50x is all u ever need for now, maybe until it breaks u can upgrade but yea its still good
@JoelSebastianMoreno
@JoelSebastianMoreno 6 месяцев назад
@@CrysisVN After 6 months, i agree with you. The fact than is a industry standard makes them absolutely perfect for home production. Sure, doesn't replace a good pair of studio monitors, but if sounds good in M50x, sounds good in every single place, and the 5 people who will listen your music doesn't give a fuck if your low end is not perfectly matched with your low mids subtle rumble and roll offed high end frequencies.

I bought the 560s but didn't keep it. If it had felt like a big upgrade from my Koss kph30i I would have kept it. The Koss makes me amazed and happy and the lightness is freeing. The 560 I found it kind of... uh ...dull? Does that make sense? Comfort wise I felt kind of claustrophobic. Like an alien ear-hugger. I think I send it back within 30 minutes. Maybe I was too hasty. Maybe I didn't give it a chance. I'd prob like one of them AKG units better.
@HomeStudioBasics
@HomeStudioBasics 2 года назад
Yup my sentiments basically although I love them comfort-wise. I've never really liked 500 line headphones and all the people who shilled this should be ashamed. There was way too much hype for what it is. But what do you expect? RU-vid is shill ville.

? For music which is easier to drive. 560s vs 6xx. I don't want to use an amp all the time.
@HomeStudioBasics
@HomeStudioBasics 24 дня назад
Both are very efficient but 560S has lower impedance so a little easier to drive though 6XX has always been super easy as well. I mostly go by Sensitivity rating as I find even high impedance headphones aren't that fussy usually.

Help!!! Senheiser HD560S or Philips SHP9600? I think open back headphones are overrated in some ways Cuz most of them lack Bass. In my Personal preference I preffer headphones with at least positive Bass frequency, like the Sony XM3 sound superp in my opinion, I loved them and I don't mind if the sound feels inside your head rather than from the sides I can enjoy both ways. However I was planning to get a pair of open back headphones to have the duo. Using my Sony Xperia 1 iii so I don't think I need a DAC.
