That's crazy, this fragrance got me into fragrances as well. As a teen, I wore Davidoff cool water, Ck one, Curve, Adidas, sometimes I would sneak into my dads room and spray some Aqua Di Gio on before school. But YSL LNDH made me fall in love with it.
@@Turtlemilk I have both. I keep buying 200ml YSL la nuit. but I still have one bottle of Intense since 2013. The projection and longevity of Intence is a killer. In the bed and for romantic rendez vous, La nuit de l'homme is un-negotiable.
I'll just use more if I have to because this fragrance is amazing. It's 100 degrees in Texas and I'm wearing it anyway. But I did buy some summer fragrances too based on Jeremy's recommendations. Almost all are wonderful. I'm new to this at 69 years old. Better late than never.
I started my "fragrance collection" two years ago with dior sauvage... last summer i bought la nuit de l´homme and till now it´s my most complimented fragrance. I got like 10x more compliments with this fragrance than with every other one (like versace eros, jpg ultra male, dior sauvage, tom ford oud wood...)! i would recommend this fragrance to every single man on earth!
@@JamaicanMeCrazy yes i get the compliments with the reformulation. I don´t know how the original la nuit de l´homme smells but the refomulation is already a beast! (So I disagree with some fragrance experts) But I have to admit that the performance is not that good (lasts like 3 hours). But in the case of la nuit i would accept that as a costumer because you get a lot of compliments from the girls!
For those of you who are curious about the reformulation years:2009-2010 is the original(batch codes that begin with 9a), 2011-2014: Second reformulation that is about 10% weaker than the original, but still incredible. 2015-present:Third reformulation that jeremy is talking about(has lighter colored juice, batch codes that begin with m,n and j). More watered down, "brighter" smell, less rich in the cardamom. Lasts about half as long(still overall good, maybe 7/10). You can still get the old formulations on certain sites, but they're going for 3-4 times the amount as retail. Make sure they were kept in room temperature and away from sunlight. Good luck
I still have a little tester bottle from when they were released to some boutiques. Its a light almost amber coloured liquid and I love that smell. I thought I was crazy when I said to the salesperson hmm, smells different. If only I knew.. I will be sure to keep my little tester for special days. Use the new stuff for the rest.
Jeremy, your original 2014 La Nuit video sold me into the fragrance world. I still wear it, even in the most recent formulation, I just have to reapply more often. It is worth it because of the wonderful scent that it is. I also wear Prive, and it is amazing in its own way.
@@sopbape8120 another 4-5 sprays after 3 hours if I want to the scent to carry. Even in the current formulation I can still smell one application of 5-6 sprays at the end of the day.
That's basically my main doubt. I live in a hot climate too if that changes anything, really cold in winter here though (20C)

I bought it about 2-3 weeks ago and I will NEVER regret it. This is the most wonderful fragrance on the planet to me. Even if I am the only one who can smell it in the air - worth every single penny.
The reformulation doesn’t make it bad. It just changes how you use it. This is still absolutely gorgeous. You may have to spray a bit more on but it becomes more versatile. I love this one so much. I get tons of compliments and it is just so relaxing and calming. It’s still a winner.
i have a 2012 tester version batch of this completely unopened until yesterday, lasted for a good 10 hours on my skin and strong projection outstanding smell more richer than the newest formulation i’ll be holding onto this one for dear life
I have a 100ml 2013 tester bottle. Bought it for $25 cash at a local shop that was closing its doors. 80 percent full Wore it over a week ago and it projected and lasted the whole day.
Bought a December 2019 batch(38SD00B) and I ain't joking when I say that it has great performance. Easily last 7/8 hours on my skin and can still smell it of my clothes after three days. Performance feels similar to ultra male, which is super weird since that one is beast mode. I don't know projection but I don't find any big problems with the performance. Maybe I was just lucky.
@@user-oe7oe2fl8q I think you can love it at 20, and people would definitely give you compliments. There is no real alternative, so it is up to how you like it
I bought this 2 months ago and I will agree on reformulation and not being able to last long (< 3 hrs). Next comes alternatives- even though Jeremy recommends CH Men Prive, with all due respect to Jeremy :), I felt Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Essence could be excellent option with Cardamom and leather note. Something to check and also costs little less, go for 125 ml.
I own LNDL but I personally think this fragrance fits more for a date night or close encounter setting. Therefore, why would you want to project that much or worry about longevity? These types of fragrances are not necessarily intended to last 8 hrs + if what you're aiming for is for your significant other to be able to smell you up close. I personally don't care about performance for this paticular fragrance since that's not what I'm aiming for but to each their own.
@@ssamuelxie Dylan Blue is more versatile, you can pretty much wear it for any occasion, it's kinda generic though, but the ladies definitely dig it. LNDL on the other hand, holy shit man this thing is something else. Wore it for a date once and the chick was all over me all night. Next day she brought up how good I smelled at least 3 times. Only problem is the longevity, it used to last very long but the new formula fucked up the longevity. Honestly, I'd say get them both if you can. If not, go for LNDL it's the scent of the gods.
@@ssamuelxie to use in class Dylan Blue, as LNDL is very much a date fragrance. Anyway I recommend you getting LNDL if you can´t get both as yes, it will be much less versatile but LNDL is just the best.
I have it it’s a good cologne. I prefer it to be used only on a date night or when you are going to be intimate with your partner. I don’t see it as a everyday go to cologne though.
Just bought this fragrance today, and what Jeremy is saying is absolutely correct. This formulation seems weaker (about as weak as my D&G Light Blue EDT that is about 2-3 years old). The scent is fantastic but took me by surprise with its unisex quality in its top notes. About 4 hours in and it settles down to an absolutely gorgeous, sexy, golden aroma on my skin. The problem though is that it hardly projects at the 4 hour mark. I'd recommend this fragrance for the close encounter, perfect for a date night where you don't want to offend your date by reeking like a French whore house. Jeremy mentioned this is a Fall/Winter fragrance, and I would tend to agree but I could totally see this being appropriate as a night time fragrance in the Summer so long as it is a cool night.
I got Bleu Electrique recently, better performing for a similar scent. Worth checking out as unfortunately they’ve just discontinued it (seems only in the US, readily available OZ, Canada etc) Edit: Got sick of it within 2 weeks, don’t pay overs for this. I sold it and got Spicebomb Extreme instead. I’d prefer the original LNDL tbh
agree the original is still better, bleu is a nice smell but the added ginger and freshness gives it this kind of herbal vibe... the normal edt even reformulated smells better, especially to "normal noses", i asked my sister for example who isn't a fraghead and she prefers the edt as well... i also didn't really notice any substantial difference in performance, i tested it out side by side couple of times and my 2020 batch of LNDL lasted just as long as bleu... if you can get a batch from 2015 till 2021 it's still worth it in my opinion, there has actually been a further reformulation recently which smells even weaker but the 2015-2021 batches (formulation code: C167049/1) are very decent and also macerate over time...
Smelled this today walking around Ulta. Fell in love with it once I circled back. I’m recently into the game, but I’m obsessed with this and JV Artisan Pure. Gotta check out that alternative you mentioned.
Just bought a small bottle of this today. Smells great and my lady loves it. Your right though not a summer fragrance. I have other options that jump off my skin for weather this time of year. But still an amazing scent.
I have a 2009 bottle with the batch code 9ABC which dates it back to January of 2009. This stuff was released back in March 2009. So I literally have one of the very first bottles ever created and it’s FULL!
I just bought this bottle of eBay for a great price, the seller sold me a tester version and I swear the stuff is strong and has been projecting like a beast for the past 8 hours!
You should watch Aaron Terrence Hughes. He’s a professional perfumer and has the best breakdowns by FAR of anyone on RU-vid. He is miles ahead of any fragrance reviewer on RU-vid as far as telling you exactly what it smells like and if it’s worth the price based on the raw materials used, etc.
I have a bottle from when it first came out and it has aged so well, havent smelled it in a long time but your top 10 made me dig it out and im glad I did. What a fantastic scent.
I agree Jeremy. Cool weather stuff. Get older bottles. Very good compliment getter, along with vintage Le Male & vintage Eros. I ordered 2 bottles Dua Man. According to reviews, it's almost 95% identical to vintage 1990's Le Male.
The reformulation is better because it is lighter than the original and doesn't slap cardamon in people's faces. Just make sure to bring a little spray bottle with you to re-apply if you are out long.
I dont know why you say it does not last so long. I think it last very long. In the first hour it is very intensive, and it lasts ca. 5-6 hours on my skin
I just bought a bottle of that, I love the spiciness and lavender is nice. I love Fall and Winter fragrances the most and I needed another Fall fragrance because I have more winter fragrances. The performance still gotta be okay for the fall at least if you spray enough. Still a fantastic fragrance in my opinion.
I bought a bottle the first year of production. 4-5 sprays were effective.. then in 2012 I bought another bottle.. two sprays BLEW MY HEAD OFF! I jumped into a SUV with friends and headed to dinner.. I had to apologize several times as it was so powerful! The scent calmed down an hour later... I was like.. WTH! 60ml Bottle lasted until 2018!
I have la nuit batch 2009/10 used it only few times so completely full bottle. Have 2 bottles so I can sell if anyone would be interested. 100% authentic.
Not ever frag should have beat mode performance. The mild projection is this scent’s strength believe it or not. When you hold her hand and comb the hair behind her ear and draw her into your scent bubble, it’s magic. If this had strong projection, I doubt she’d want to be close in honesty. It’s a beautiful scent but it’s also a scent that can be offensive. Drawing and luringyour date into an intimate moment is what makes La Nuit so damn good. If you want something that smells really good and has the best projection I’ve ever had smelled then get Givenchy Pi but be warned. Don’t forget that the olfactory senses go blind anyways. Just because you can’t smell it doesn’t mean someone else can’t. I like the idea of a weaker formulation because I can spray it more and have a better coverage around my neck, shoulders, and arms.
Just bought this yesterday. Absolutely beautiful scent. I'm getting loads of talc notes from it for some reason. Good recommendation Jeremy. When you coming to Ireland man?
So what is it with the spray head? Is the current formulation more thick or the old one? How do I know the old one? Oh he says ,,if you look at sprayhead of the current formulation it’s more thick Zahn this one‘‘ *points on the spearhead of the one in his hand* So out of this I conclude that the old ,,better“ version is the one with a thin sprayhead?
I miss the original smell when it first came out it was really thick and potent almost smoky ashtray smell in the drydown. Now it’s like gone so fast I can’t even smell it after like an hour but it has that familiar opening.
Jeremy you should give us a comparison of this fragrance and the similar one called ombré noir on Alexandria fragrances their claim is that it’s like the original formula
@@Turtlemilk that's a hard one. I think dior homme intense is worn on more important events and la nuit can be worn any time. I'm a junkie for scents so I say both lollllll
Got this at 16 for sale and kept it until now. A good few sprays came out the bottle when I took it to the gym and the lid fell off in my bag making it spray the whole way home after the bag moved :( Checked my batch and it’s from 2014 so it’s definitely strong and everyone notices it compared to most my other fragrances. Sad I can’t find anything before 2022.
I hate it when they reformulate fragrances. I remember how I used to love Black XS and Voyage a lot. The new formulations just don’t excite my nose as well.
Jeremy: Fierce, Abercrombie and Fitch: this fragance got me in the fragance game. Le Male: this fragance got me in the fragance game. One million: this fragance got me in the fragance game. La nuit: this fragance got me in the fragance game.
Mybe he made a big first order? :p I got Aqua Di Gio Profumo, Amars Lanuit and Amber Combe & Fitch First Instinct (Fresh water melon) as my first forey into fragrances after days of watching Jeremy videos :p
Jeremy YSL Pour Homme was my first love in fragrance, I still absolutely love it however it's hard to find now, YSL Jazz the original formula was a staple in my collection too.. YSL La Nuit is sex in a bottle, I will always have this in my collection it's just gorgeous 🙏👍🙂
