2009 it's on another level but 2022 still smells great and performs decent in my case. 6-7 hrs with a magical powdery scent trail. One of my most complimented fragrances to date. Still a 10/10 to me
I still have an ( almost) full bottle of the 2009 version, and there is a clear difference in the initial spray on. But after it dries the 2022 smells about the same.
@@yusuff7_ I’ve read the 2017 is better than 2022. It’s all about the ingredients, they replaced the expensive ones with cheaper ones over time- so I’ve heard.
If this scent is your jam, buy the biggest bottle. It's likely going to take you years to use up the juice. When you let it sit for longer, the juice will darken and hit harder.
I found that my bottle purchased early 2022 directly from Sephora became very strong after a couple months in the bottle. I only do 5 sprays max now, it’s a masterpiece fragrance
I don't usually pay much attention to what fragrance youtubers say let alone act on it but I gotta say everything I tried that you recommended was fire 🔥I'm talking Elysium and Oud Wood. I'm gonna keep tuning in to your vids. Could you perhaps recommend feminine-leaning scents for a man? Thank you :)
I wear this for all occasions for fall and winter and people love it including myself. Ive been through 3 bottles of it. I really don't care what others think but man this stuff smells incredible. Very relaxing and higher quality smell and feel. I received my 6.7 oz today. Its a 4-2022 batch and yes its weak compared to the older original formulations from 10 years or so ago. Ive hit the trigger probably 25 times today all together. The scent projection disappears after about 3 hours but if you bury your nose in your arm to smell it, its still lingering on skin but just barely. So is it still worth it in 2023? To me it depends on the price you paid for it. I paid $120 for the big bottle and considering ill probably use 20 sprays per day that I wear it which will make the juice go away in the bottle prettty quickly, Id say yes its still worth it because the scent itself is what Im paying for. Just dont wear it every single day. For me I usually wear it 2 or 3 days per week in the fall and 1 or 2 days per week in the winter.
This is pure magic juice. I sprayed it yesterday first time for years, and it was just overwhelming. I had the version when it came out, and it was much stronger, but it is still awesome. Just overspray.
I have a new and a 2013 bottle. The older is a richer and more wood heavy version. The newer is lighter/fresher to me. Personally like the 2013 slightly better
A couple times a week I spend a few hours working in a large, open facility with large fans that circulate the air . I wear LNDH, Ambre Nuit, or Herod 70% of the time and the compliments are frequent and some even test my discipline as there are many women there but I have a gf at home. Even still to me as a wearer, I seem to enjoy absolutely every whiff of all 3 and i don't care if anyone else is wearing the latest craze. Here is my only complaint about LNDH and I guarantee you know my pain....normally with LNDH instead of people just saying "You smell good" they add "what are you wearing?". I swear if I had a dollar for every time I've had to say "La Nuit De L' Homme 3 times or more🤣😂
I have to add that the criticisms it got didn't happen until it became mainstream in RU-vid and frat Bois got their feelings and wallets hurt by blind buying.
This is a masterpiece and will never go out of style. If you can get a pre-2014 batch, its much deeper, rich and longer lasting than the newer batches. I did the comparison between 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2020. 09,11, 14 are much better performers than the newer ones. If you get the new stuff and you want it to last for a while then, spray and spray and spray and spray.... and spray your shirt as well. It's never wrong choice.
@@yusuff7_ I'd say yes. You can't go wrong with the scent itself. It just that I've found that the newer the bottle, the poorer the performance and longevity. I have a 2018 bottle that use and it doesn't last as long as the 2009 / 2011 / 2014 ones. It still smells fantastic.
@@thephoenix1117 Hmm interesting… And how long does your 2018 batch last? Over 5 hours? Or is it still weak like the 2022 batch? I could go for the Bleu Electrique because of the performance, but as a scent the OG La Nuit takes it for sure. So I’m looking for a old batch now. Just not sure about the year differences. Should the 2014 batch be the oldest one if you’re looking for better longevity?
@@yusuff7_ I recently bought an "Art Edition release" and its code goes back to 2013. After some back and forth with an ebay seller, I got a used bottle with no box and a few scratches ( about 85% full ) for $200. It has a darker scent profile than most of the others and its sweetness is muted. I'd honestly rate it at towards the bottom of my collection - which was unexpected. It's different, and not in a good way - but still really good and wearable. Overall, it seems to me that bottles before about 2017/18 have a darker scent profile, the cardamum is more pronounced and the performance is better. However, the performance has never been great. The older ones I have, I get about 6 hours. The newer ones 3-4 and then its just a skin scent. ... All that I can say is "the older the better". With regards to Blue Electrique' - I really love that release (as does my wife) and I've stocked up on a few of those that I found reasonably priced. You can even get it on Amazon. It's out there. But, if you want older batches of the OG, unfortunately, you just have to hunt around in eBay. They pop up from time to time and I've found that you can negotiate some sellers down to a more reasonable price. But its a hunting expedition. ..and a pricey one at that.
I had the original batch. The aftershave was far superior. I love it. But, it's always going to have a dry powdery drydown that sits close to the skin and most men are not secure enough to enjoy it. It used to be a bit more spicy. The aftershave is still superior. I would prefer to wear Opium pour homme over LNDL. Both have a powdery metrosexual feel but Opium just has a nice kick of pepper and ginger.
8:51 i literally bought this two days ago in france for retail, i sprayed it yesterday at around 4pm on my shirt not my skin, this morning i just picked up my shirt that i hung on a door the night before and i could still catch a whiff of it, i dont buy the ohh it doesn’t last comments
Hi Melissa, I am almost 15 and I've been getting into fragrances lately. After buying eros as my first fragrance I wanted to get something citrusy fresh for the summer so I got xerjoff renaissance. On the same day I tried layton and I absolutely loved easy 10/10 for me but i was kind off worried that it would not be appropriate to wear as a cold weather signature in school etc. , what do you think? (Since I have a job money is not really a problem) I love your videos, keep up the good work!
Although Layton is very versatile and can be worn year round, it actually leans slightly towards the cold weather side due to the heavy dose of vanilla in the base. The effervescent nature of it also helps to project through the cold. It works great in cold weather. All that being said, Layton can be a polarizing scent. I absolutely love it, but I've gotten feedback from quite a few people who say it smells like vicks vapor rub to them... But I don't care. I wear it anyway, I just use less sprays if I know I'm going to be in super close quarters with other people.
Batch 62H403 April 2011. Plan on wearing this week. Special occasions only now since it's an older formulation. I also still have two 2oz bottles from 2018
I love the way you describe things! So grounding and true! Some things become legendary and timeless for a reason worthy of keeping loving and caring about!
After watching Melissa's videos about how good LA Nuit De L'Homme is I bought a decant, and at first I wasn't too impressed. But after using it for a week and giving it a break, when I came back and re-applied, it was so good. It opens so fresh and the drydown is so smooth I had to buy a 100ml bottle it's a solid 9/10.
I purchased my latest bottle in April & was hugely disappointed they changed the original formula. The smell is off and it doesn't last long. I wont be buying La Nuit De L’ Homme YSL anymore . This is what happens when brand waters down a fragrance & starts to use cheap synthetic ingredients. You end up losing losing customers all because of penny pinching greed.
I think of it like music. There are timeless classics and there is stuff that sounds dated. Even the dated songs can still have value (if they're good). I don't think classic fragrances can become irrelevant.
I always loved the Icey smell you get at the beginning in the original (10-14) when I had it , but the new version has the same smell but fades away in less than 5 minutes after spraying. Are their any clones that match up with the original?
I read this 3 months ago: "The current batch has improved again in terms of durability and sillage. It's definitely good", any way to find a current batch? serial or code?
Another fragrance that people put in a box is Versace Eros. People act like it’s so sweet and only for clubbing but it has a freshness to it that allows it to work during the day even in spring and fall. It’s strong so just don’t spray too much (1-3 sprays) and you’ll be good
Speaking of reformulations, Dior doesn't get the hate it deserves. They neutered Fahrenheit edt to make their newer parfum seem far superior then they limited production of the parfum. Look at what they did with their Homme 2020 BS. Dior should be getting the reformulation hate. YSL got reformulated because I think the OG had Oakmoss and they made the artistic decision to subdue the spiciness but had Dior created LNDL, it would be a nightmare already.
I have a 2014 Fahrenheit edt it still smells cool and “musky” to me maybe musky isn’t the right word I have a novice nose but I do know what smells good lol anyway yeah I don’t like how the new one smells to mine. A lot of designers are nerfing their own frags
@@cheezuschrist I'm really tired of concentration flankers. We had Edt's in the 80's that were just as strong as these so called Elixirs. There have been a lot of aroma chemicals getting banned. Not sure that would affect the strength of a fragrancd but Dior intentionally neutered Dior Fahrenheit edt. I smelled a 2020 and it was gone before it could even develop. I was mad because the shop had the parfum as the tester but trying to sell the EDT with it. I've tried to buy that tester many times. I think it's about time it goes missing...
it smells so good but it’s so weak like i can smell it for like maybe an hour or two but then i can only smell it on my arm or shirt if i put it up to my nose or about about half a foot from my nose. I’ll smell it on my clothes next day but it doesn’t project well at all, sucks because it’s such a nice scent.
Got myself a bottle of this for $69.75, can’t wait to get it! I also have a bottle of Valentino Born in roma coral fantasy it is great too if you’ve never tried it!
This was my first ever fragerance and started it all for me I have half bottle of the vintage and it's my most complimented by a long shot its the only ysl I smelled so far others never invested me want to try there high end line
I wonder if you’d layer LNDL with Creed Aventus how good would would that smell? I layered it once with Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man, and it was mesmerizing to me. 😙👌🏿
