Before you comment about weight, please google World Dairy expo images first. The younger they are the slimmer they tend to be (both of the cows in this video are young) and ours get the privilege of rotational grazing so they are lean and muscled from walking every day. You don’t look at a greyhound or a track athlete and think they are under fed - you understand they have high nutritional needs! Hips and ribs show (and should) on dairy cows. Beef cows are built very different and if they looked like this - yes there would be cause for concern but these are definitely not beef cattle. Dolly got a little tsc the other day and is working on healing. Yes, she is lean but she is young and healthy other than that foot and she is active and happy. Thankful for good vets that support our herd!
