From the echo chambers of social media to our growing culture of political correctness, our world is constantly conditioning our minds to think and respond a certain way that’s detached from rationality. Today, we break free from the chains of conditioned thinking, sharpen our mental awareness, and learn how to utilize our emotions as a strength, rather than a weakness. On this episode of Conversations with Tom, Tom Bilyeu is joined by New York Times and international bestselling author Robert Greene to discuss such matters and more as they explore why today, more than ever, we need to be sharply aware of the political and cultural environments that seek to condition our minds and force us to think irrationally. They discuss why so many behave irrationally today, the power of analyzing your emotions, how today’s environment has conditioned our minds, how we can utilize awareness to empower us, how to use anger as a motivator, the dangers of today’s culture, the constant need for change, the difference between yesterday’s and today’s generations, the story of Athena, why life must have both pain and pleasure, and much more.
Order Robert’s latest book, ‘The Laws of Human Nature‘: amzn.to/3e2AiIJ

@@BRAZEN_Muse I'm libertarian, more in favor of smaller government, less wars and big advocate of the first two Ammendments. I do agree it's silly to view power as this evil thing, rather it's a tool to be used and can be used to do good or evil by those who wield it similarly to how firearms can be used to save lives or destroy innocent lives. What it comes down to at the end of the day is accountability and virtue. A good person can use their power to uplift people's lives in very positive ways while a person lacking accountability and virtue can greatly harm people. When it comes to government, of both political affiliations more often than not there is a lack of accountability and virtue because many of these officials are isolated from the effects of their decisions while in office. The conservative warhawks don't see the soldiers dying on the front lines and the progressives don't see how their gun control policies make urban low income people vulnerable to opportunists who then have little resistance to robbing, r@ping, and bullying these people. Anyways, thought your comment was interesting just wanted to add my two cents.

Apologist's advocate: Ironically, we have social media to thank for that. Nevertheless, while we may all often be connected, primarily influenced only by those up to three degrees away, hopefully this information overload gradually dissipates and ceases to have a noticeable effect on its intended targets, advertising targets, such as by those subliminal messages, and as in Pavlovian conditioning.

People often don't realize the kind of impact that even their repressed emotions can have on their lives. Emotional management includes making peace with your past trauma so that you don't continuously get triggered by similar events in the future. Confronting your emotions is how you heal; letting time "heal" you is how emotions get repressed just so they can bubble up at a future date.

Robert Greene, my favorite author is just brilliant in every way and his books have helped me out a lot to deal with the world and people. What I like about this episode is that he mentions the importance of analyzing your own emotions when you feel anger, sadness, fear etc. This happens to me a lot and every other day this week I've been completely calm, peaceful, and in harmony to feeling anxious, afraid, and worried the next day, to feeling calm again the next day. As soon as I get these negative emotions, I try to figure out what exactly caused it and how I can properly deal with it. It can often be a combination of things that I need to sort out. Being in a fearful state of mind is never good and we suffer more in our own imagination than in reality. It's easier said than done though but you have to learn how to Master yourself and control your emotions, especially with everything going on in the world right now. Remember, one of the most important things you can do is to focus 100% on yourself while simultaneously take the focus away from yourself by keeping it outwards instead of inwards. That will help you focus as you constantly are moving forward. Always keep the initiative and always build and keep momentum. If you don't succeed with something, go straight over to something else. It's all about the process, not the goal itself.

In his book, The Laws of Human Nature. He interestingly opens you(the reader) up into your own operating system and goes ahead to help you fix the negatives.Reading this book, you will come across yourself(Human Being) several times. It never ceases to amaze me how true and hard hitting he wrote about our Nature as humans.Every human must check out that book.Props to you Sir🙏

He's speaking of being empowered, which is power over oneself as opposed to seeking to have power over other people, which is a red flag towards being exploitative & treating other people with a lack of empathy. Having your rights repressed by others, or as he's explaining, giving away your power or personal sovereignty, is a great goal obviously. Just thought I would rephrase the power being "dirty" concept. much love all♥️♥️🌎🌎

Have you read the book 48 Laws of Power? It reads like a psychopath wrote it, which is confusing to me in comparison to what he says here. In this interview, he says that he gets angry at people who behave in ways that demonstrated them as fake basically, (being something they're not), but it's pretty much what he says to do in his book. Hide your plans, use people, etc. Check it out, it's on Amazon.

Hi, Tom! I really enjoy your program and the atmosphere you have created. I enjoy the interviews you make, and the people you invite and come are all beautiful and tell us a lot. They articulate things we, most of need to hear and reflect on. But today, somehow again, this interview, I think I probably watched it for the second time, I often do this, this interview was just one of most accurate descriptions of what I needed to hear. You see. When someone says important things, they often sound controversial the first moment. But the right and important things are not controversial, they are just a little bit mind-blowing. But they illuminate a little of the darkness inside us and around us. Thank you, Tom, again! I love what you're doing. I love you and your team. Keep up the good work.
