I just realized this video has 6.3k views... that's absolutely insane, and honestly straight up a disrespect of your great work, I guess the youtube algorithm is truly flawed and only rewards flashiness :(
Thank you so much for your feedback. It's a sign of the times I guess. People are looking for clear "winners" - like buy this camera, it's the best for you, rather than get explanations about the pros and cons of a camera to make an educated decision what would fit their needs best.
The skin color rendering will be the next video. I’d probably get with one of the Nikons unless you need fast focus, then one of the newer Sonys (a6400).
Great job Wolf Amri! I truly love your methodical and clinical testing of the cameras. These are some of the very well thought tests of cameras I have seen. Such attention to detail is evident in all your videos. Kudos to your hard work to bring this to us in a very pleasant and easily understandable form. And yeah, I do look forward to Part III of the test series. Personally, I think it is a better way for viewers to judge a camera. This way we can make an informed decision based on data rather than being told by someone based on his or her personal taste and opinion. All my best wishes to you to keep up this great work.
Really surprised Nikon D3400 is winner. Wow. I really appreciate the method of analysing cameras using various parameters. Thanks for your valuable video.
Thanks for your feedback, Ravi. There is no one camera that fits all needs, so I thought there is a need for parameters. Unfortunately there weren’t many people interested, so I didn’t continue the test 😢
@@wolfamri Oh... That is really sad... Anyhow, I am really enjoyed the comparison. I saw few videos in this channel. Really interesting and valuable. Especially, the focal length video of two parts are wonderful. Great job. Hats off.
@@wolfamri so that's why there's no more test? I totally understand but it truly is a shame, and I blame the internet for not guiding me towards such great reviews earlier. I ended picking up an a6400 some months ago, I'm pretty darn happy with it, the focus is great (especially with the sigms 30mm) but I definitely wouldn't mind stuff like Fuji film simulations for sure.
@@LeoMkII thank you! Yes, that was the reason why the tests ended. I spent a lot of money on the cameras in hope it could help my channel grow. I sold them used, but you still don't get the full amount obviously. The a6400 is a great choice and I can totally imagine that you love that beast ;).
Great video comparing so many entry level options. I was leaning towards the Nikon D3500 but now I am also considering D5600. I am extremely confused as right now the difference in price is only $70. While the specs are more or less the same, D3500 is a newer model but the D5600 has some minor added benefits like WiFi and articulated screen.
The D3500 is much newer and I’d expect a successor to the D5600 soon. That’s probably why. But the successor will very like cost a lot more 🤷♂️. So the D5600 seems like a great purchase.
@@wolfamri I thought the same too, I was leaning in towards a6000 but its rather old, Hence I am gonna go with D5600. What lense combo would you suggest? 1. 18-55mm + 70-300mm 2. 18-55mm + 50mm 3. 18-140mm + 50mm I want to click mainly general events of family, Portraits, night sky Occasionally landscape, wild life.
Thanks, Ionut! Much appreciated. I often planned to do several more parts, but considering how little interest these two generated, I thought I'd better do other videos first that people are more interested.
@@wolfamri Such a shame. These videos are really good. They deserve many more views. I think it must be something to do with the RU-vid algorithm. I’ve been looking into buying a beginner camera and have been searching for reviews. But I found this video by searching for a tutorial on lenses.
Wow - where have you been my whole photographic life? I have learnt so much in just a few videos. Great channel. My EOS20D (yes 20D!) is showing its age. Do you have any intermediate camera tests, as your tests seem very thorough? Was thinking of the 90D kit with the 18-135mm lens. May be more than I need though, suspect I'm more interested in the lens!
Thank you 🙏. I’m afraid I don’t have an intermediate trst. 😬 What is your budget. If you can afford the new R10, I’d go for it. Mirrorless has so many advantages 😉.
@@wolfamri Hadn't even considered mirrorless. The R10 18-150mm kit is a little cheaper than the comparable 90D kit (though not available until July). I know nothing of the advantages other than size and weight. Also know of a couple of the disadvantages: battery life and lens compatibility, though I believe an adaptor is available. Looks like I'll need to do a little more research. Thanks for the reply btw!
@@wolfamri Just thought I'd let you know that I've decided to go for the R7 18-150mm kit. A little more expensive than the 90D kit but it currently comes with an adaptor, so that I can use my lenses. Got to wait until September for delivery though! Thanks again for all your advice
Awesome content! Just one question: Could the differences in the lens you used play a role in these results. Like, for example, the transition of the Sun. I also know that companies adjust ISO to different real ISO values. Like for example, a 1600 ISO could actually be 1250 ISO. Thanks
Thanks, Raudel. It could be, particularly Fuji and Olympus do that and I realized that. But still the Fuji performs pretty good, when I bring it to the same brightness as the other files. The Olympus not so much, but it has a smaller sensor. The lens could play a role. There is something called t-stop vs f-stop. But the difference shouldn't be as big as some examples.
Very sensible and good real world tests. I have a D3500 and really enjoy it. I thought I might have outgrown it sooner but not so far. There are features it does not have I would like such as tilting screen, bracketing and true remote capabilities instead of just the Nikon app.
@@wolfamri ok, but sir this video is very important i think for every beginner who wants purchase a better camera body 1st time so kindly request to you please shot the part 3. Which is very helpful for us. And thanks for the response ❤🙏
Im glad you decided to post this video. It’s great to see a comparison between “beginners” cameras ISO low light performance. I want my next camera to perform better in low light!
On your number 4, called sunset, where you have the lighthouse, why does it look like the lighthouse is going to fall across the dock and into the water?
I had the cameras all together on a rig and failed to straighten the horizon on one or two cameras. Shame on me ;). But in general - if you use a very wide lens and have some upright structures in the corner of the frame, they will suffer from so-called vertical or perspective distortion.
@@wolfamri You know there's people's judgement about a particular company, and they want to choose another, same case here. The video was extremely helpful though.
Great to hear, Loredana. I have to say though, that camera sensors get better every year, so the D3300 isn’t the same as the D3500. But I’m sure it serves you well 😉.
I bought my t7i purely on the marketing info I got when I was trying to decide on what to get.. I soon realised that it wasn't all that was promised and it can't handle iso very well.. thanks for these videos.. very interesting
Hi Marty! Thanks! Unfortunately I was a little lazy with the test because of a lack of interest (particularly in this part2). I really should get going again 😬
I have never seen a review with this simple and elaborate explanation on RU-vid. Thanks a lot for that. Again I want to ask you the same question in a different way. After watching your video I can clearly see that the Nikon d3500 is a much better camera for landscape photography than Sony a6000. I have to select one of these two cameras primarily for Landscape photography (sometimes astrophotography through my telescope) and occasional bird or macro photography. Which one would you suggest ? It would mean a lot. Also I am pretty good with Adobe Lightroom and often edit RAW images there so please factor that in your decision. Again thanks for the wonderful reviews !!
That’s really difficult, Dhruv. The a6000 is in many ways a more sophisticated camera. It just lacks the dynamic range and low light capabilities that the Nikon has. So for landscape and astro, definitely the D3500, unless you are once considering to add an interval timer which can be handy at times. The D3500 doesn’t support that. For wildlife , sports, etc. definitely the Sony 😬🤷♂️😂
@@wolfamri Thanks. Is it safe to say that Sony doesn't have these capabilities due to its old sensor? Also I have old Soviet Era Mir and Jupiter lenses which I would use with my camera. Is it true that Nikon does not support old lenses well unlike Sony ?
Not sure exactly about the lenses, but mirrorless in general can adapt way more mounts than DSLRs can. Yes in regard to the sensor, but also the processor.
@@wolfamri Thanks for asking. As a beginer mostly low light photos, Night sky, and landscape and may be moving objects for practice. No weding or party photos. Budget around $700 (For me currecny is INR) with kit lanses.
@@rahulchakrabarty2858 that's a tricky one. With night sky and other low light stuff, you want a camera with as little noise as possible. Color accuracy is nice, but not nearly as important as low light. In this case, I'd probably go with the D3500 and get a lens with a low f-number. Depending on whether you want to photograph the milky way, or other stuff, you'd want a wide-angle lens or rather a telephoto lens.
Thanks, Abhinav. The second video didn’t interest many people, so I thought I’ll invest the time into other subjects 🤷♂️. Great to hear that somebody is interested 🤗🤗
@@wolfamri well...about that, remember when I told you we were going to Croatia to get married? Well our airlines cancelled our flight since they no longer fly out of New York due to covid, so we had to book another flight but when we booked it it was going to take us through Spain. Well we didn’t know that Spain changed their policy to requiring a visa so we had to get another flight ...$6000 later we got to Croatia. When we got back my contract got cancelled just before the American wedding so I felt getting the R6 would cause financial issues. I was right, still have been unable to find another contract so basically living off checking account while hoping to not touch savings ...then insert Christmas.
@@wolfamri Sorry to hear that. You can tell how much work you put into it. Thanks for the first two parts though! It's very descriptive and entertaining.
