Gibby, Re chop chords Mike Marshall often recommends just playing the 2 bottom strings, so with G chop play G strings fret 7 and D strings fret 5. He always emphasises that it's these bottom courses that are fundamental in creating the chop sound and not to play the top two courses of strings anyway. I only got to find Wayne's lessons today - they are excellent.

Yep. That's a common way to avoid the pinky note that works great. I have a video up about that as well as another that focuses on using the pinky in an excersize to help stretch it out some. Good luck....
