This is a beginner friendly crochet tutorial on a Solid Granny Square using US terminology. I show how to make the square slowly step-by-step but you will already need to know how to make basic crochet stitches. I offer plenty of tips along the way and even show how to finish off with an invisible join and how to secure your yarn ends in.

Thank you so much for this video. I’m doing daisy squares and have completed 2. Using the method in the pattern the joining round area was very visible. I have 15 to make in total so will using your technique from now on. I just can’t understand why everyone doesn’t do your method. I’ve watched loads of videos, and never come across it before. ❤

I can't appreciate your video enough! The way you taught this just made this finally "click " for me! After MANY searches for multiple variations of the granny square, you're way was just made the most sense to me, even after a few years of knowing how to do simple crocheting, I'm finally opening up to more different types of stitches and creations always too worried about not understanding the crochet language, but now after your tutorial I feel confident about doing a little more advanced squares THANK YOU!!!

Hello. This is a brilliiant video. Thank you. The only thing is that it really is perfect rythm at the beginning but it goes really fast quite quickly . I started and was happy to find I was making it but had to drop out.. If the second part was just as slow as the first it would be perfect . But that 's just for me as a beginner. 😀

This is so helpful! To make a hexagon instead, would you just add a couple more sets of 2 double crochets and corners in the magic circle to begin with? I can't find anyone else who does corners like you do and I love that style
@meemamakes
@meemamakes 4 месяца назад
I’m actually currently working on a tutorial for hexagons with these sort of ch, sc corners and it works well. I find that for hexagons you only need (dc, ch2, dc) corners instead of (2dc, ch2, 2dc).

The tip using a third dc into the corner rather than the first hidden stitch makes it so much easier as well as neater. Can a standing dc work in place of 3 chain with your method?❤
@meemamakes

Yes I don't see why not! I did use to do standing stitches but they slow me down once I'm crocheting at speed.
