Please continue this series and upload more kalimba exercises! This is exactly what I have been searching for for ages. Not just learning songs, but really practising to get better with exercices. The onliest thing I would like to see next time: Please include the tabs as text, because the keys are shiny and it's easy to get lost if you don't see those.
@@zerozeroeszeroed please don't be rude to others for spelling/grammar mistakes. English might not be their first language, they may be dyslexic or something similar, or they might've just made a mistake. Either way it doesn't do anyone any good :(
River Ellis Okay, I understand. Whenever I comment on someone's spelling I don't intend on being rude to them. Hopefully they just know now that there are different words for "onliest".
KalimbaCam, I felt so lost for so long. Thank you for producing a set of exercises I can actually put into action and follow. Please do continue to teach us!! Many thanks!
Started today 6 Aug '20. I was at the turnaround in the second session when my brain seized and I turned all thumbs, but I persisted until when half way through the third session suddenly I could hear actual music coming from my own kalimba! Thanks Cam, looking forward to more instructions.
Why did I not find this video earlier? I got a kalimba from Wish ages ago (it's perfect and beautiful, don't get me wrong), but damned if I couldn't figure out how to play the damn thing! I already have 3 ocarinas, and apart from some initial tabs I looked up in order to play some songs, I learned over half of the songs I know completely by ear. Tabs for ocarina are also really easy to follow. Not so with kalimbas! Kalimba tabs look like a waking nightmare, lol, and as someone who can't even read music, it just looked too complicated. Guess what I'm trying to say is that this vid was awesome, and very simple to follow, and every bit made sense to me. Definitely going to try those Dyad notes, they sound really nice! As someone else below in the comment section also pointed out, it reminds me of the Rugrats theme song....which now maybe, I can work out how to play with these new skills. It's basically just up and down the scale after all....kinda. :P Thanks Cameron! This is an invaluable tutorial!
I just got mine and it is a wonderful replacement for overeating or any other bad habit. i will be recovering from the loss of a loved one for a long time.
as much as i love to ONLY practice by playing songs. I know i need to incorporate this into my routine if I really want to improve my technique and playing. Thanks!
my kalimba arrived yesterday and because I don't play any instrument it's a bit hard to get into it :") I really enjoyed this video, I'm sure it will help me a lot!

Por fin alguien que nos enseña desde el principio!!! Muchas gracias, ahora sí puedo aprender a tocar mi kalimba. (Finally someone who teaches us from the beginning !!! Thank you very much, now I can learn to play my kalimba)
Please, I only ask you to show us in detail the keys you play, for those of us who do not speak English and are only guided by that we see in the video. Thank you! ( Por favor, sólo te pido que nos muestres en detalle las teclas que tocas, para quienes no hablamos inglés y sólo nos guiamos por lo que vemos en el vídeo. Gracias! )

Is it just me anyone who couldn't figure out what’s the difference between the One Octave scale and the Octave Dyad scale? Sorry, I couldn't spot any. This is a great tutorial for beginners :) Thanks.
Like your videos, too. But, like another person, I couldn’t quite follow the second exercise. Could you show which tines you are using? I can’t see them.
Hey there! I would highly recommend buying the Gecko K17M. It is a really great hollow bodied 17 key Kalimba that sounds great and is extremely affordable. You can buy it for $40 from my website which is far cheaper than other sellers. Link: kckalimbas.com/products/gecko-17-key-mahogany-c-tuned-kalimba-k17m Hope this helped :)
I'm a complete noob when it comes to music in general, but I have a Kalimba and I'd like to understand at least the very basics of how to play a tune from memory. I have a question that might be stupid for anyone with more than a first class elementary school understanding of music, but it still confused me: When doing the arpeggios with the metronome, you're not actually hitting a key every time the metronome goes "tack". What is the timing that we should aim for in this part? I don't understand how we're in rhythm with the metronome if we're not playing one not at each "tack".
Using my friend's phone.I just got my kalimba today the only problem is I have a blister on my left thumb so, have to wait for it to heal before I can practice again.Carrie Kritcher
