I show how to make stem-and-leaf-plots, including one double stem-and-leaf plot comparing results of two quizzes. We also observe the median and the basic shape (distribution) of the data. This lesson best suits grades 6 and 7.
In two of the examples, the stems are the tens digits and the leaves are the ones digits of the numbers. In one example, the data consists of prices, such as $2.49, and then the stems are the first two digits (2.4 for this example) and the leaves are the last digits (9).
