This is a great video, sir! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. I've just started inshore fishing this year on a kayak and have only been able to go out 3 times so far and have been skunked each time. Hoping to change that soon! I'm in the Charleston area and am a member of Lowcountry Kayak Anglers, but am looking for another inshore club to join as well.

Hey Bailey, thanks for the comment and the kind words. Absolutely hate to get skunked!! But it happens to all of us if you've been fishing enough!! What area do you mainly fish? What are you using for bait/lures? What tides are you fishing?

@@saltwaterjacksfishing The first time out on my kayak I launched at Paradise Island. I got there later than I wanted to around 10:00 I think and if I remember correctly I was in a rising tide and the current was pretty strong. It didn't help that it was also extremely windy that day and I chose to go against the current and the wind. I lasted for 2 hours before I called it quits and went back to the ramp. Last time I went out was the kayak launch at the county park on horlbeck creek. I got there at what I thought was a good time - outgoing tide and I stayed until the tide started to come back in. I fished with zman paddletails and a voodoo shrimp, but got nothing. I saw a ton of shrimp and mud minnows and really thought I was in a good spot, but didn't have any luck. Both times I didn't stray too far from the launch site, but that's mainly because I don't know exactly where to go so I figured I would try areas close to the launch site first. Soon, I'd like to try out some other areas like folly and the stono, but I figured I should probably try to learn one area of water first. I plan to go out tomorrow morning and I'm going to pick up the lure you mention using a lot and see if I have any luck with that.

Great video. I’m in hobcaw and will come up your way. Curious how you advise fishing on rainy days v cloudy days v sunny days. How much does time of day matter? Winter? Spring, summer fall….etc.

Thanks for the question! I’m going to encourage you to check into barometric pressure and how it affects fishing. You’ll find that rainy and cloudy days will have a lower pressure and sunny days will have a higher pressure. Experts say the best BP for fishing is between 29.70-34.40 and that the best time to fish is just before a storm moves in or about 12-24hrs after a storm moves out. I have found that in the Winter getting up at the crack of dawn isn’t as important as when fishing spring, summer, and fall. Since the water temps are low in the winter and I prefer fishing for Redfish, I have found that fishing in the warmer part of the day 2hrs before and 2hrs after low tide works best for me as the reds will move into shallow water to get warm. Spring and fall it’s usually a feeding frenzy as the fish are fattening up from the winter months in the Spring and fattening up for the winter in the fall. I prefer timing it so that I’m fishing 2hrs before and 2hrs after low tide in the spring and fall as well. However, you can almost fish anytime of the day in the spring and fall and catch fish. During the summer months when it’s crazy hot and the water temps are up, I find that it’s better to fish early morning and late evening. Keep in mind that’s what I prefer. However, if I get the chance to go fishing then I’m going to go fishing!! There are so many things that factor into fishing. In many cases you just need to go fishing and take notes. On one trip you may crush the fish and on the next trip you might get skunked fishing at the same fishing spot with the same lures. That’s just fishing!! As you know we live in an incredible sanctuary! Just enjoy your time on the water! Hope this helps!!

Fishing here in Charleston. Mainly the Stono River. Would love to find more information about your Wando Fishing Club. I’m apart of the Stono River Fishing Club and it’s always fun to talk with more anglers.

@@saltwaterjacksfishing Both. But the main thing I am looking for is the easiest and safest place to launch, navigate and fish with my 21 foot bay boat in the Charleston area. I launch solo in my local lakes with no problem but have yet to attempt current, wind and tides in the salt. My current plan (pardon the pun) is to put in at Remleys and fish that end of the Wando and it's tributaries. I've seen some of your videos in that area and have a pretty good idea where to start. Thanks again for all the great info
