Can i shutdown my pc while im sycing my files? please help sir

It's all great, but wouldn't rely solely on cloud storage. It is better to store data safely on a physical disks and keep them in a safe place. At least you have control over what happens with your data unlike when you are storing them in some corporation's storage. Cloud may still exist tomorrow but you never know what might happen in the future with it. And if anything happens to the storage system may as well destroy your data in the cloud and I highly doubt that corporation would take any responsibility for your loss or help you in any way to retrieve your precious documents and pictures.

This guide worked for me, I now have 15GB cloud accessible on 3 computers, thanks. I was with dropbox for 4 years or more but had only 9.75GB. I might drop Dropbox (No pun intended) but then again might have them run side by side, 24.75GB for nowt isn't too shabby.

If I format my computer or delete the selected folders then will it be delete with Google drive also or it will remain in the Google drive

I can't get past step at 11:00 minutes. I can sign in, see my googleee drive, but can't see a way to move to step two. Since I'm using a student account, I'll try the other garbage google's incompetent developers made. For a company that's worth a Trillion dollars, these apps are pure garbage.

No matter how many times I do this, I can't get "My Drive" to appear in the File Explorer.

Hi, i have followed your tutorial; step by step but where does it show you how to BACK UP my GOOGLE DRIVE please. got it to sync but how do i back it up as i want to remove files from my google drive that are clogging it up but they are files i still need to keep . please help . thanks Tania

You haven't discussed abt deleting a file from local computer but not from the cloud ... and vice versa

I want to delete file from computer but that should not be deleted from Google drive i want to fix this because multiple staff use same email drive and work on same file delete issue irritate hence I want to fix it that file cAn be deleted from pc but not from Google drive and even same can be sinked later on

well um google drive sync is well slow when you don't have a good connection compared to how much data you want to sync between them. So now i am stuck waiting for my 2GB ~ 3GB of data to sync on my google drive so i can use it from the cloud instead of locally. It is good for small scale cloud backup. 15GB isn't that much but it is enough to backup documents you do not want to lose like your word files and pictures. Now videos really you might be able to get a few on it before you hit the maximum before you have to pay same thing with games. Right now just mad at how slow it is going and unsure if it is me or google that the connection is slow because of.

when the download "installbackupandsync" is fenished there is no icon in the corner,why?

No "little cloud" icon on the bar. It says that it synchronizing, but the screens you show don't appear. I'm at a loss. Can somebody pleas help me? Why it is NEVER (sigh!) as in the tutorials?

Thanks for the video. Question: I have Google Drive installed on my Mac, and a "Drive" folder on the Finder sidebar. Opening that folder shows a very different view of files / folders on G Drive than what I see when logging in directly to the cloud. Is there a way to sync the views? Thanks...

Great video, thanks ! I just wanted to say that it seems a backup from 1 PC can't be synched with 'back up and sync' on another pc if it is not in the 'my drive' folder. Just loosed a few hours of uploading for nothing, but learned from the mistake - will place it in the 'my drive' folder directly.

The problem that have though that it does not seem like a backup but more so just like a sync. When I delete the file from my computer the file will not remain on google drive cloud. I wish to backup and not just access from different devices. Would I need to manually do this?

Google Backup and Sync is so fuck*** slow. I use FileZillaPro for uploading my 12TB :D Uploads with full available speed. Btw You can get lifetime unlimited storage in a shared drive, for only 50€ (one time payment) :D

Hi, I got to the area where it was suppose to be Backup and sync and it was changed to something else called Drive for desktop instead....I thought I was understanding you well until there was no Backup and sinc......I dont know what to do now.....

A folder I uploaded yesterday (with images) is not showing up in the list view (nor the other view). The images are on the cloud, but the folder is just not showing up. How do I get this folder to show up. Note: There are people i shared this folder with and they have access to the folder to download, etc, but again, it is not listed with the other folders I have on the Google drive. I really could use the help as I would like to add another important file to this folder that is missing, but just cannot find it. Thanks... Philip NYC Area

I have backup in google drive. But I setup a new phone I forgot to add gmail account and setup completed. After setup I add my gamil account. But no option show to restore my data. But data show in google drive. Please help me

For anyone whose icon doesn't appear in corner in hidden Icons drop down, click "windows button or start" and search for "backup and sync from google". Should appear in search

Drive file system for google drive is better. It shows you the full drive. Sync only shows you what you have synced?

Hi, What about the folder named Google Drive that is created in the computer when you install Backup and Sync? If I can add everything directly on the online app, why does the system creates a local folder on my computer? A second question, when you select a folder to be synced, let's say Desktop, if your hard disc crashes, will the files in your desktop be backed up? Thanks

One step further, I think. Somewhere along the line I must have downloaded Backup & Sync and moved a couple of folders to Google drive. Later I was trying to figure out how to add another folder. I found the best way was to pick the arrow in the bottom right task bar and pick the Google Drive symbol. Go to settings, then preferences and follow the add folder directions. Voila.

This is killing my computer. Never had a problem. And then google drive pops up. And big problem I had my computer made for me. I got massive storage . But drive says you are running out of storage. Why did I klick on drive. I am just texting the guy that made it . Hopefully he will tell me how to stop this.

I want Google Drive to sync to only one folder on my system: "D:\GoogleDrive\" (and all sub-folders and files.) !! Instead, the Install software syncs my desktop, pictures, etc. What idiots.

Thank you for a clear lesson. Like so many lessons, though, things change, and the menu at 9:01 no longer includes the "Backups" option. My problem is this: a colleague sent me 5GB (about 1500 files). I have them on Drive, and I can open them as plain text, but I cannot move them to my computer. To do that, I would have to open the filetype as a blank, copy the text, then paste it into the new file. And the formatting would still be lost. I'm reasonably sure that's not the way it's supposed to work, but I don't know how to get the files, intact, from Drive onto my computer, where I can open them and use them as they are intended. Ideas? Thank you.
