Awesome video, explained great as always. Highly recommend for anyone looking in to Rapsodo data! Explained just as good as Rapsodo explain/teach it themselves! Great work Jake!
Hello Jake. Great video as always. How can Rapsodo be used to improve practice? Like for example, how can a hitter improve that hits balls with topspin instead of backspin?
This is an excellent question - and one I am planning to answer in another video down the road. The short answer is that it all depends on the type of contact a hitter is making, when paired with Blast these issues are a lot easier to diagnose based on their swing plane (hitters that are early to the ball/late to the ball make contact different ways). The use of this technology is helpful in making the diagnosis in a players swings, and knowing what goals to move towards is beneficial for people just getting started. Thanks for the comment, a future video will definitely cover this!

How much is the monthly subscription? Do you have to get it to get MPH and distance readings?
Thanks, great explanation! How do you adjust your swing to change the spin axis? It doesn't seem like a simple fix and yet it makes such a difference on how the ball flies.
As always, excellent question Yitz! I should do an entire video on some of these topics - so look for that in the future. The short answer is the way you’re making contact with the ball. If you’re familiar with the blast metric vertical bar angle, that is going to have a direct impact on the hits outgoing spin axis. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve got a vide on a few key blast metrics that you can check out here: m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b3zulsvTfTY.html Their website also provides introductions to their metrics with quick videos that are very beneficial to people learning about hitting metrics. Link to their website: blastconnect.com/training-center/v3/baseball
Great question! To my understanding those are simply there to help categorize your hitters when viewing profiles on the website. This helps you compare how each hitter on your roster competes with players in their same position. Thanks for the comment!
Does the rapsodo subscription come with the Ipad or is this an app that i will need to download to my current ipad? I have purchased the Advanced cloud subscription. Thanks in advance.
In my experience it’s an app you’ll need to download onto your own iPad. You can download it without a subscription you just might not be able to do much with it! Thanks for the comment.
This doesn't really have anything to do with this video but more of a broad sabermetrics question. I just read The MVP Machine and want to read more about player development and this revolution in baseball what other books do you recommend?
Some of my personal favorites are Big Data Baseball, Astronall, Moneyball (of course), and The Only Rule is it Has To Work. Future Value is another I’ve been recommended but haven’t gotten to yet. Thanks for the comment!
