If your looking to buy used battery power tools check to make sure the company is still selling that style of battery and that you can find them at a reasonable price. Batteries don’t last forever, and if you can’t fine good replacements you will have a worthless tool.
this was so great, thank you! i feel a little bit daunted but i want to learn so i can make some things for my daughter and this definitely made it feel more approachable and less scary!
Good thoughts. I have seen many great woodworkers leave us, but there are still many people who are very knowledgeable replacing them. Yes we are moving from more of hand tools to power tools, CNN, 3D printers etc. and I am not to happy about that. Learning to use hand tools is so satisfying as compared to a whirling blade or bit of some kind. As for RU-vid, I have subscribed to at least seven hundred WW, DIY, makers of all types - great source. Learn everything.
I landed up replacing my corded Bosch tools with Ryobi cordless as the Bosch broke (all too freequently, typically within a year or so of purchase but outside warranty). I watch channells that feature Festool etc., not envious, but thinking "how can I do that with the tools I have, or, wehat tools on my battery platform would I need to do that.
Buy the best tool you can afford on tools you will be using most often. Convenience will make projects more enjoyable. I’d recommend buying a good brand corded vs a cheap brand cordless. You will get a better tool, not waste money on junk short life batteries, it will last longer, have more power and most of the time they can be more affordable.
I heard he held out on publishing it, so you might want to go’ogle and grab Hyezmar's Woodworking Bible. Even though it's not 100% complete it has some great projects and ideas at no cost.
Hi! Just found your channel earlier today and immediately liked it. I watched the mountains wall hanger you made, and it was gorgeous. I now just want to see you build more stuff, it’s inspiring
A good start could be repairing a piece of furniture and building something small for yourself. I'd be careful with used pallets, because you possibly don't know how and where they were used. The wood could be contaminated with chemicals and who knows what. When repuposing wood, look out for hidden nails or screws. Hitting even one nail could easily dull or break drill bits and saw blades.
good afternoon! I'm Alécio, I live in Florianópolis - Santa Catarina - Beasil. I love your videos, I don't understand what you're saying, but I want to leave here all the affection I have for your work. thank you, have a nice weekend
You definitely can't go in thinking you're going to be perfect on every project. Mistakes happen ALL the time to even the most seasoned woodworkers. You just have to learn from the mistakes (fixing them creates "design details" 😉) and move on. And one of the most important things I've learned is to stay focused and take your time. Both can lead to mistakes and/or injuries...ask me how I know about a shop-related injury from a lapse in concentration.
Après avoir fait un tour sur ta chaîne.Je te souhaite une bonne continuation dans tes projets. D'ailleurs je viendrai jeter un coup d'œil 😊. Hello Helena. I just arrived your channel and I so happy because I learning english for my own (i wish travel to EEUU someday). I love the woodworks too, I am beginner in woodworking, so... your channel is the perfect 2x1 for me haha. You gom a 1 new and loyal subscriptor. Happy for know you, a hug for you from LatinAmérica (Chile ❤🇨🇱 , nor Texas haha).
That chess table looks amazing! I don't have a dedicated space, and so I store everything in my apartment and bring it to the rooftop whenever I'm going to work on something, so I totally agree with your advice on how to work with a reduced space. Thanks and keep it up!
I’m really enjoying your videos - very informative and inspiring. Totally agree about building up your tool collection as you go along. I’ve gone down the Dewalt route for most tools because once you have a few batteries and a charger you can just buy the tools themselves so it works out ok price-wise.
Very helpful🫰 Creating my own workshop is my dream, but currently, I have no resources to fulfill that. I hope I will achieve my dream like you one day ❤ Love all the way from India 🇮🇳
I agree. I bought one of their combo kits when starting out because it had all the tools I wanted (and some I didn't) and it was cheap...still use mostly Ryobi to this day some 6 years later.
I have power tools, but I have recently taken up hand tools. Chisels, hand planes, hand saws. Hey they work fine, are cheaper, and dont require electricity! I guess a battery drill and driver are worth the money. I work in my 2 car garage, on one side, for all my hobbies. build rex kreugers low workbench, cheap and very versatile.
