Hi Joie, you are a breath of fresh air on a beautiful spring day! I absolutely love that you are compiling your journals without including digital kits that most YT-bers seem to rely on!!! I'm new to JJ's, having decided it might be one of the best ways to incorporate my "less than perfect" mixed media & watercolor attempts, and have made a goal this year of buying nothing but glue and using my stash up, which will take all year at least. Therefore, finding your channel has been incredibly helpful to me!! You produce gorgeous JJ's and your videos are extremely professional and you convey your creations in such a clear and concise manner so that we all can follow along without bumbling about! Thank you SO much for sharing your creativity with us! Although I don't do FB, I definitely watch all that you post and even tho I don't normally comment, I always "thumbs up" and "share" every single one of them. Again, I really love your unique style and it is perfect for using up my stash and meeting my goal this year. Thank you! From Florida, USA.
Well Debi, what can I say? That is such a lovely comment....I try to make things simple and easy to follow, and I have a passion that I love to share. It sounds like you have it too:) Let's be "less than perfect" together....😀 Welcome to my channel. joie 💕
I got half way through this video and discovered the paper flowers that you made. I looked through your videos until I found them, I'll spend the evening make flowers and then I'll get back to this video. I'm embracing my ADHD I guess! Thank you! Made lots of flowers and now I'm back to this video.
Hello - just found you. It’s a bit of a eureka moment in that it absolutely matters which book you use because I have been avoiding them, using books I don’t like, so I don’t want to see any of the words. Now I know THE BOOK COUNTS... ‼️I’m new in this craft. Loved paper all my life. I have a crochet channel and I’m a theatre designer. Thx. Jackie
Great to meet you Jackie. From your theatre background you sound very creative....the book can provide an amazing source of inspiration 🥰🥰 I'm looking forward to hearing more about your progress ❣️ take care, joie 💜🌿
I set about watching loads of videos on this craft , and given my addictive nature off I went collecting all sort of bits and bobs ; and pulling out lots of stuff from way back when my addiction was card making. But I got lost with loads of stuff but no idea where to start but now that I have found your channel , I am going to keep track and do whichever craft you are showing, that said I am off to make some envelopes, given the amount of rain in Britain at the moment , we need a craft to ward of cabin fever . So thank you clever lady
What a lovely comment Brian. And I totally understand about the rain!! Welcome to my channel. I share videos and ideas around both junk and art journaling....but underneath it all it's just about playing with paper. So come on board, join in the fun and let's play 🥰 Hopefully we'll be chatting again soon! Joie ❣️🌿
Thank you so much for such an inspiring video. I’m new to paper crafting but have been collecting paper and ephemera for years. During the pandemic, I’ve discovered paper crafting on RU-vid and am now hooked on this wonderful craft. I can’t wait to get out to the 2nd hand bookstores and begin this wonderful journey into creativity!
WOW!!! What fantastic information. I've NEVER heard anybody say ANY of this information,...& I've watched MANY RU-vid videos!!! thanks for taking the time to explain such useful & fun ideas about using book pages. I'm so excited to get started using this information. ALSO,...I really like how you don't rely on digital file papers. Thank you VERY MUCH!!! Austin, TX USA
I hope you have a lot of fun playing Barbara..sounds like you will! I have lots of other videos on my channel...feel free to browse around 😁 Take care over there in Texas, we live in interesting and indeed challenging times, so stay safe, Joie ❣️🌿
Hi joie, Great idea's for using book pages ! I have lots and it's a shame to waste them. Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm new to your channel and still quite new to making junk journals. I would love to see some tutorials, any tutorials would be greatly appreciated as I love all of what I've seen so far. I'm still binge watching, so I've not seen everything yet. We recently became friends on Facebook, I wanted to thank you for your friends request as I found your RU-vid channel from you reaching out to me. Thank you ❤😁 Best wishes, Rae xxx
Rae, I'm delighted to see you here. And thank you for the idea and the encouragement for me to do tutorials. I will do some planning for that:) You have a lot of fun ahead if you are relatively new to the world of junk journaling. So many new, creative techniques and activities to try. Take care, see you again soon, joie xx
@@joiedefi I'm definitely looking forward to trying different techniques for making junk journals, I have made a couple and am excited to try more. I'm also interested in art journals and mixed media and would like in use these in junk journals to give them something a little different. Thank you for replying to my comment and I'm looking forward to seeing your tutorials xxx
I have only just found this video and think your ideas are great. There is a marvelous charity book shop where I live and I shall become a regular customer. Thanks for sharing.
I know I am late to the party. LOL. I LOVE your videos. I LOVE how you get to the point quickly. So many times I look at videos for junk journals as a newbie and the people just take so LONG to get to the point of how to create. You are refreshing. I learn so much from you.
Hello Joie! I love all your suggestions and would love a tutorial or live on how to make any of the ideas. I do better if I am shown how. But your books, pages, flowers, envelopes oh all of it would be great to see more in-depth for a newbie like me!! Love your work!!❤xo💜xo💙xo💛xo💖xo💚
That's fantastic feedback, I will definitely plan out some form of tutorial. Lovely to see you here too. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Hugs, Joie ❣️🌿😀
Really nice video for book pages. Before junk journals I had maybe 2 books. Now that I am using them in art projects I have too much. Our library has a book sale. One bag if books for 7 dollars. I have found atlas, big size flower books, 4 field guides, and lots more. I find music books at the Goodwill. Since I buy books at different times and places I need to organize them all in one place because I keep making a mess and having to put them all back later. I find that I use more of my supplies and organizing the more time I save finding items.
Oh Laura I totally understand....and it sounds like you have a fabulous book collection. I get what you mean about the mess 😀 Great to hear that you also shop at Goodwill. 👍🏻 Really lovely comments from you Laura, I do appreciate it, take care, Joie 🌿❣️
Lovely ideas! I don't feel a bit bad about using pages from a book in my journals. You have great ideas here, and I can't wait to hear more. Thanks, joie! Maybe I'll catch your live presentation sometime!
Yes indeed Peggy, I need to gear up for doing a full live stream, maybe straight after a Premiere......well that's an idea...I like your attitude re the books:) take care, joie xx
Still great ideas and I sure do enjoy going back and seen videos. As I start a new Journal each time it really does help to give me ideas so I don't get stuck in the same old routine. Thank you for this video and all you've done I hope you will be back to us soon.
I'm so glad I fell down the RU-vid rabbit hole and ended up discovering your channel. Your explanations of collaging and junk journaling are exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for sharing!
It's a lot of fun down this rabbit hole 😀 So welcome to the channel at the bottom of it!! Lots of fun to come! Thank you for your comment, it means a lot to me. Joie ❣️🌿
Elizabeth Goude is one of my favorite authors over the years so I would have a hard time tearing up one of her books. haha~ I too love just a small use of digitals instead of digitals being the main theme of a journal. I am so excited. Something wonderful to do while the weather here is so snowy, icy & 20º in the day & below zero or slightly above at night. Thanks so much!
Lovely to meet you Susie, welcome to my channel!! Feel free to browse around, and if you have any questions or indeed your own ideas I'm delighted to chat and try to answer. Take care, joie 💜🌿
Your ideas are wonderful, I have to make list of them so I make the most out of them. I always fail on making a journal. And your sentence in one your videos is that you have to have a purpose and that stuck in my head and rethink before making a journal and preparing for it. Thank you very much! 🌻🌻🌻
You're very welcome Wejdan Alaradi. Making and filling a journal is just about having fun!! Thank you so much for watching and welcome to my channel! Take care, Joie 🌿😀❣️
I've just discovered your channel and find it enchanting ! I can't wait to watch more of your videos ! This video was lovely to watch and I learned a lot. I love your video style and wonderful ideas. Thank you very much !
Many thanks Joie. You are very inspirational, easy to follow anc appreciate you clearing away what's not needed as you explain a new idea. You're the perfect instructor. From Denmark.
I so love watching your videos and hearing your accent. You are such a delight and a blessing to us newbies (me). Thank you so very much for sharing your creativity with us.
You are such a lovely teacher. I've been very inspired by your videos to start my own journal and today I've been making flowers for it. Envelopes are next I think!
Kath what a fantastic note for me to read! I'm delighted that you are feeling inspired and having fun with paper. Envelopes next!!! You're on a roll now:) Thanks for sharing, I can hear the energy in your words....take care, joie xxx
Julie, now that's a cute idea, I guess calendars have great pictures!! aha, I shall steal that idea...thank you for sharing and for joining in. I really appreciate it. xx
I think I've completed watching all your videos, and some I've put in a play list so I can watch them again. I look forward to all future videos as well... they are greatly appreciated. Now I think I'll go browse those channels you often refer to here.
@@joiedefi Oh, thanks, that sounds great ! I look forward to watching it ! Love your work and really appreciate your tutorials. Have a lovely day. Hugs.
Hey Misty, thanks, that's awesome. I think that we are both loving our junk journal and RU-vid journeys that we are on. Hugs from near Blackburn, England. 👍🏻❣️🌿 Joie xx
I love this very much. I have so many old books and playing with them. You are amazing at your art and I absolutely love watching your videos. As a beginner JJ you are very helpful. Thanks Big Thumbs up! Have a Creative Day~ Roxanne
Hi Joie and thanks for another amazing video guide for us. Were you ever a teacher??? I just love listening to your tips! I really love your envelopes, which are also great for happy mail! :). I have been making some out of Daphne's Diary magazines and beautiful stronger wrapping paper, but have not thought about glossy book pages! I'm going to check my books! haha. Brilliant as always, Joie!
I'm thinking of doing a video on those envelopes..... will keep you posted. Thank you so much for watching......I saw those Daphne Diary pages in one of your videos. Was very interesting to see them. 👍🏻❣️ Joie 🌿
New subscriber here, totally new to junk journal concept, fellow paper lover, totally enamoured with what I've seen you make so far! Question, if I may;... What do you do with the medium sized pockets? I can see the small ones can be added to a page, and the large, long ones can be added to a signature such that half is on each side of middle. But, I can't imagine how to use some of those beautiful mid-size envelopes. Thank you.
Aaaahhhh yes, I saw your stream recently...making a big Journal I think. It looked just so awesomely satisfying 👍🏻❣️😀 Thanks so much for popping by to watch! Joie 🌿
Mary, lovely to see you here. We're having a lot of fun here making and filling our junk and art journals. I'm delighted that you have subscribed. Thank you!! Joie ❣️🌿
Sorry I missed the Premier ...... we were having a family day which meant all gadgets were banned for the day ...... love your suggestions as always, particularly love the envelopes x
No problem at all Julia, well done for putting your gadgets down!! If it helps to coordinate with you, I'm planning videos on making paper flowers and then one on making envelopes.... feel free to play together... joie 🌿❣️
Great ideas! I'm working on a book cover that needed a little something more. I think i'll use the idea of stamping on the book page and adding a bit of color, i think that will work nicely! Also love all your envelopes, do you make them from a templet or the punchboard, loved their sizes! Enjoy your day! ~ L
Awesome questions!! I use a really simple envelope board... without a punch or template. I'll do a video or a live stream...(scary idea👍🏻😀❣️). Joie 👍🏻👍🏻 xx
Time zones... they are never helpful!! Thanks for popping round to watch..your videos are really impressive. Great walk through of the pages in your gorgeous journals. xxx
Thank you!! Love those envelopes and I'd be curious on how you do the flowers. Do you use a punch or envelope boardy thing to make the envelopes?? I'd like to see you make one.
Hi Maureen, the trick with the flowers is all in the folding of a square of paper to begin with. Then you cut with scissors. Maybe I should do a live on it! The envelopes I use a board, but a very simple one. Not one of these with a cutter. Again, maybe I should share what I do...I'll work on that:) Take care and see you soon I hope! joie xxx
Aaah the copyright question. I can share my own amateur view, which is that you can't copy them...in any form, for sales or indeed for your own use. So you can't take a copy of a page and use that in a Journal, for sale or not. My understanding is that you can play with the pages in your own journal making and you can use pages in a Journal that you sell. You can't however use some pages that have images of characters on them, like a specific famous rabbit, as that image is still under copyright. And the age of the book isn't always the only relevant date as sometimes, just sometimes for specific reasons, copyright is renewed. I'm sorry if this sounds complicated. Have I made any sense...all my amateur opinion...💜💜💜
Aaaaah Dianne, it's a great question. You can't reproduce, that is "copy", in any way if an item is still within copyright. You can use a page but not scan it or print it, you can use a page but not photocopy it. Selling an item has nothing to do with it, copying is copying, you aren't able to copy even if you don't sell it. Equally you can put a page in a journal and sell it as that's not copying. (Be careful of trademarks as that's another issue to manage... ) That's my amateur understanding as I'm not a lawyer. Hope this helps!!😁💜👍
This is for beginners? I dont have any stamps. I will look for a template for flowers, I can do that. I can attach book pages on maybe index paper and use that. I will be thinking on what I can use for envelopes. Thank you.
Hi Anita, here's a video for making really easy paper flowers. It involves some folding but doesn't require a template. I wonder if this might help. Joie 💜🌿
I have some magazines with nice images. I'm currently trying to think of a way of using these because the paper is so thin. I may need to paste the images onto heavier paper or lightweight card I think. I think I have too many ideas. I need to think less and create more 😂.
Hi,Ashwini again, :) Was watching this video,so could you please let me know details about the stamp you showed at the very beginning of the episode ( you have painted it green), sorry to bother but I liked it a lot :)
Hello Ashwini 😁 if it's the green flower, I can tell you that it's from a brand called "La Blanche". It is a foam stamp which works very well. Was that the information which you needed? Let me know if not and I'll try again. 😁 The flower is a lily. I really like this stamp too. Easy to paint. I hope that you are doing well. Thank you for watching !!! Take care, Joie 😁💜
Hmmm. I bought them a while ago from QVC. That's a shopping channel. Sometimes they pop up on eBay. Sorry that you can't find them. I guess an alternative flower stamp would also work. 🤔 Joie 🌿❣️
TWO QUESTIONS: 1 - Is there a video on the 5-petal flowers you talk about in this video??? I didn't see it listed. 2 - Can you actually send the envelopes thru public mail??? Or are they just for journaling & such??? Thank you. Austin, TX USA
Here's a Playlist...it has the flower video in it and a bunch of others that you might like ..in the UK you can use these envelopes in the mail, as long as the address is clear. Not sure about the US 😁 💜🌿
I use all sorts, I grab pages from anything...this video might illustrate the point a bit better....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jGXa6efuGYs.html 😁👍❤️
Hmmmm good question. I wonder if you could make a little pocket instead of an envelope.... would that work? Do you have papers that would be big enough for that? Lovely to see you here again!! Hope you are well. Joie ❣️🌿😀
I will show you in my next video how I do a monthly spread......in the video after that I will try to show you some other ideas that might work for a daily page 😁💞👍🏻
Me too...so then I buy another...oh dear, now I have so many!! 😱 Lovely to see you here Aunty Ro. We keep meeting on streams 😀 Take care, see you soon I hope! Joie ❣️🌿
Hi Debra, I just use a range of cardstock, old book pages on junk card, some pretty scrapbook papers, that sort of thing. I don't tend to use old book covers...they are a bit big and bulky for what I want. Let me send you a link to a video that might help.
Thanks. After watching your tutorial on making pockets, I made a pocket out of a old dictionary page and tried my hand at water color painting and attached a paper flower (also from your tutorial) I loved the look. I am enjoying all your videos.
I do like the idea of a junk journal but have never felt the need to have one. They look great but I can't think why I would want to fill one up?? I'm sorry to sound negative as well but am I the only person who finds 'inspirational quotes' completely annoying? They really piss me off. I will shut up now as I sound like a miserable old hag even to my own ears! You do make some beautiful pages though:)
Well I do understand where you're coming from... although I just love the process of filling a junk journal with something colourful, creative and fun. It has led me onto art journaling...I use paint more now in both my junk and art journals and am learning a lot as a result. I'm all for doing whatever works for you... maybe it's worth a try? Joie 🌿
