My mom died in 2013, a few months after I asked to teach me to sew. We only got her old machine serviced. I took it home, with all the attachments and do-dads, and it sat. A library program taught me how to use the machine (basics), and I made a couple simple bags. I bought a pattern, intent to teach myself how to use one. It was a failure; I needed a tutorial. Your video came up from an online search, and yesterday I made the first-ever pattern project with my mom's machine. I'm wearing those pants as I type this. Thank you for making videos for those of us who waited too long in asking to learn.

Thanks for the tutorials, your tutorials are soooooooooooo simple, clear and concise and that makes them easy to understand. You speak clearly and use simple basic terms that beginners can understand. I wish you were my sewing teacher when I was in high school :)

Girl you are so good! You would think you've been sewing for 30 years, but you don't look 20 years old! I really would like you to do a part 4. A summery of a few things you did not cover on this pattern; like what is facing, and other important terms us beginners my not understand. Again, thanks a lot.

I am on my first sewing project with a pattern, and although not pants or anything of the sort, these videos helped me immensely in which the other videos and articles online did not. Thank you so much and now I now where I messed up on the pattern and can thankfully fix it and get started on cutting the fabric!

I think I love you darling. Being a fast talker myself, I enjoy taking your instructions. This is my second sewing project. The first involved pleats, gathering, neckband and wristbands - yeah!! I just didn't know what I was getting into. It turned out beautifully, but I had to research every word and watch videos on each step. Then - I found your videos. Love them!! Love you!! Will be watching them for all future projects. Thank you!! You are a wonderful teacher. LoveYaBye!!

I know you did this video FOREVER ago, but I just wanted to thank you for it! I just leaned to sew during the pandemic (masks, of course). I made my granddaughter a pair of these pants and now I’m making them for my daughters (in adult sizes). I made one boo boo on my grand baby’s ... it was a directional fabric and one one leg unicorns face up and the other one down. LOL. Now she can see the unicorns facing her, right? Hahaha. Made with love though

So easy to follow! Concise and to the point but with all the necessary details. This is one of the first sewing videos I've watched that hasn't almost put me to sleep! I'm a quilter too but for some reason clothing is very intimidating to me. My husband has been begging me to make him pajama pants, and after watching this I'm ready! Thanks so much, looking forward to checking out your other videos too.

God bless your voice. You do a ton of talking and every bit of it is information. Hope you don't loose your voice. Love your teaching. I am a father trying to make my first pair of pants for my son's because they are to big and nothing fits them right off the shelf. I bought 5 patterns from simplicity and it says "It's so easy its simplicity" but without a doctorate in sewing reading the plans are not as easy as it looks. Great #1 vid explanation and right on for the second 2 vids. You made my life so much easier . ^_^ I just wanted to give you the first ever "Sewie Award" for teaching sewing! YAY and Thanks!

OMG you are sensational! I just bought a Viking Designer Jade 35, took the three intro classes and still was like a deer in headlights. But I'm determined to make my own clothing and maybe start a clothing line. After watching your 3 videos everything I heard in class is now making sence. I'm excited all over again. I will be making these as soon as I go back and get the pattern and fabric. I bought other patterns that I thought were pretty dresses but honestly as a virgin seamstress I need to start with something easy but not too easy, these pants are perfect as my first project, thank you! I subbed u for sure, please do dresses that are difficult so that I can learn and grow my skills with your easy to follow yet fast pasted instructions, when I say fast pasted I don't want you to be conscious of going slow, I say fast pasted because your not talking to me like I'm in 3rd grade you talk to me like it's my first year in college and I like that! Sort of like "keep up! I gotta cover a lot of stuff in a few minutes so I can't baby you, so keep up!" Great job, keep up the good work!

@kokienga One way of doing it is before you cut the pattern to trace only the size you want by laying tracing paper over the pattern and slowly tracing the lines with a pencil, etc.
@TheCraftyGemini
@TheCraftyGemini 12 лет назад
@mayagayam The tie on the front is an optional finishing touch you can add or leave out. The pattern has you adding it at the end by hand with needle and thread. It doesn't actually go through the casing. It is just for decoration and is sewn down to the front seam casing and then tied in a bow. Hope that helps.

@dofdestiny10 One way to figure it out is to get an index card/paper and mark 5/8" from one edge of it (measure with a ruler) with a dot. Then slip that piece of paper under your machine's foot with the needle up and then lower the needle so its going through the dot you made. Now, wherever the edge of the paper is you want to run a piece of painter's tape signifying the 5/8" distance from the needle. You can then use the edge of the tape as your guide. Hope that helps.

@irikel You can use pinking shears or a zig zag stitch close the edges of the seam allowance to keep it from fraying.... or for pajama pants like this you can even leave it like that if you want but when it get swashed the inside seams will fray.

This pattern is not for a pair of drawstring pants. The pattern calls for a little piece of ribbon to tie on the front but ut's just for decoration. The waistband is just like I show in this 3-part series, only elastic.
