Nice! Im at the similar level, you got this, best part of skateboarding ahead! When it comes to understanding moving shvits what helped me a lot is to learn them fakie first, easier to rotate and land. You can get speed against a ramp and on return you will be in fakie position and can try shovit. If its ouside skatepark where i learnt it you gotta start in switch and shift the lefs to the nose which will get you into riding fakie.

Hey Hegla! Where do you get your clothing from? It seems like a lot of times your pants are loose and good for moving around and your shirts seem to be the same but closer to the body for the flexibility (if that makes sense) and I love the style, so sorry if you’ve answered this before in like a Q&A or something but what clothing stores do you usually get them from?

@JWillyGuy
@JWillyGuy Год назад
Shuvit tip for you! I’m relearning them too! But when you scoop don’t just scoop backward, scoop toward your front foot. It will help the board go forward a bit so you don’t land on the nose anymore 😁
@joaopedroferreiradevasconc2288
to take the shuvit i started to try land just in the front foot, like fall on the skate with the front foot before the back foot, explaim anything in a diferent language is so dificult (i am from brazil) hope this helps
@marshalltucker9690
@marshalltucker9690 Год назад
to help with you ollies try thinking about doing a judo kick after you pop the board into the air. this should help make more contact with the nose of the board, lifting the board and leveling it. ollies are easier to do while moving because the pop is dragged behind due to friction so you have to pull the board forward by doing this. when stationary try popping the board slightly in the opposite direction of the kicking motion so the board presses harder into your front foot during take-off. best of luck out there champ =D

Ok, so I have bought a longboard a few weeks ago which I enjoy riding around in the UK (it's my first time on the skatebard/longboard). But a few days ago I have bought a standard (Birdhouse Stage 3 Falcon 2) skateboard as well. The wheels durometer is 100a SHR and the size is 52mm with ABEC 7 bearings. And it just doesn't ride on the UK's tarmac lol. What is your wheels size/durometer please? PS.: I have ordered ABEC 9 bearings and 54mm 78a wheels, which I hope will help with this. PPS.: I went to test out the new board without my pads on :) Barely can move my right wrist now :) People, please don't forget to wear them if you are trying something new.

I recommend when you do ollies try standing on you board backwards, if that makes sense. Pop on the head of your board instead of your tail, because your tail looks like its so worn down that it has no more pop. Your ollies will be much higher. I have to do the same when I don't change me board for a while. Good luck on your skate journey 👍

You can practice nollie shuvits while rolling to help build some muscle memory. It's a similar motion, but pivoting off the nose helps you cheat the rotation a little bit. Helped me a lot when I was learning. Add in a little pop once you're comfortable.

Some tips: • manuals, esp. when moving: make sure your feet are 90° to the sides of the board. heel on back side edge, toes on frontside edge. Have your back foot in the "pocket" - thats the spot behind the rear truck where the deck tail starts to rise / kink. this should also minimize the drag of the tail if you fail. your deck will not get razor tail as fast since ther is less direct force on the tip of your tail. your body weight is over the rear truck, you balance with your hip, not your upper body. this should give you way more stability. from what i have seen you should be able to manual for a long time since you have good body control. • drop down curbs: same foot placement. put light pressure on the pocket to lift you front trucks resulting in all 4 wheels touching the lower level at the same time. you dont need to manual down the curb, its more like a quick lift. the more practice you have with this the more professional it will look. this eliminates the chances of lock-ups on small cracks. lift up the nose, make yourself light (kinda like a little jump, bit not really) and land with all 4 wheels at the same time. • running start: just like your cavemans, connect your front foot to the board as it leaves your hand. your foot secures the board on the ground. right now, any imperfections in the ground will make the board go a different way than you expect, that may result in injurys. i love the content. good skating, very good editing.
@shawnhagerich2559
@shawnhagerich2559 Год назад
I'm sure Ricky mentioned it, but in case he didn't, you should have the feeling of curling your toes over the edge of the board when you do your shuv it. I also tend to have my weight slightly over my front foot. Your ollies are well on their way. Definitely work on getting your back leg up, like pull it up to your chest. Also, give it a second before you level it out. It's more like a fraction of a second, but give the board time to reach it's height. I count in my head 1, 2, land. A 5 second manual is pretty good. you can cover a pretty big distance in 5 seconds. Plus, manuals are actually easier to do while moving. It's so awesome to see someone try out skating and have it really take hold. Keep it up. It's so great to watch. I subbed for the skating content!!!!! Also, I second the No Comply 180 comment. You could totally learn a No Comply. They are so fun and there are so many variations.

I don't see any playlist, not that I looked at everything. ru-vid.com/group/PLFRWGdHX11bNExZvrHT08GJmvGmpm8i5x&si=3XpIbE_Y8RpkniyQ build one, start off with some Fatboy. Im requesting a nose stall on a little curb. Slow and easy. But you'll be sliding on the nose before we finish the playlist. Edit = added Barbara striesand song and make the girl dance for motivation. Skateboarding has a lot of ugly before it's pretty. It's harder on the female ego that's spam advertised perfect pretty. No reason to be embarrassed, crashing is a part of skating. It's like iron body training in Kung Fu. Makes you stronger, can build your character. Some Drum and base on the bike, get out and skate the bike rave. A better request.

Good job and good perseverance! I'm saying this with the intent of being helpful, I think you should reframe how you perceive your falls. Your worst fall ever @9:15 is a badge of honor and not an embarrassment! You're only falling because you're trying. Hundreds of falls like that more to come, so try to own them like "hell yeah I'm badass I can fall like that and keep going no problem at all."

A tip I haven't seen anyone mention here that might help with your shuvits. Your front foot should be closer to the center of the board rather than further up the nose. If you look back at Rick's video you will see what I mean. I think more experienced skaters don't realize they are doing it, but it might help you.

u need to develop skate muscle memory from neck, shoulder and hands, hips, core and legs. u accomplish this by learning to tic tac, pivot 90, 180 and 360 for the least:) and switch 180s and full reverts if ever with powerslides. do this for 1 month and everything in skateboarding will become soooooo much easier and u will have little to no fear as u will skate with your entire body engaged rooted into the board

oh no! not the converse! man those are the worst skating shoes, they do look cool though. get some vans slip ons, they are cheap and super comfy for skating. Also, try "ticktacking". You build momentum on flat ground by swaying the nose back and forth. this gets you really comfortable with the physics of skateboarding, on how to build, shift and maintain momentum

Don't get embaressed when you fall even in a funny way. I mean, falling is the most basic thing with skating. At a certain point you're going to learn how to fall and it's going to boost you to do more stuff. People are not used to fall in general... F***k them, get used to it 💪

One little tip for better progress: Invest some money and buy a new deck and griptape. It's much harder to do tricks with such a outworn board. Espacially with a broken tail the deck has no pop and you can get serious injuries from a (so called) razortail.
