I think I may need a better explanation for that homerow thing he's trying to teach because why would you need to do this on an open position note? What are you trying to achieve? I understand it's supposed to be a simple lesson but I don't understand the point of learning this hand position when all it does is create harmonics for me
Hey Mark sir, how are you doing today, hey I was just wondering about how long you been playing the bass guitar for, and was it your first instrument, how did you start, and how did you feel about it? Do you play by ear or music or both,I feel like a big dummy, and I ain't getting no where in my bass playing, I feel like I am stuck, and never getting anywhere with it, I only been learning for 7 months now, and I love watching you and your you tube video they're very awesome,I just feel I should be playing better than I do, and I don't know how to, I do know the major scale minor scale major and minor triads, the numbering system, and several other scales and modes, and about 90% of the fret board, but I don't really know how to put it all together, and I still struggle and slow at it all, I have to have a chord sheet music to be able to play, but I can play the song after I practice practice practice practice practice practice with it with music, and I can take my eyes away from the chord sheet music for a little bit and just play by the song from were I practing it but I have to glance at it to see were we are at so I don't mess up, I feel I am not doing well at all in this all together,I feel like just giving up and just saying forget it all, what would you do if you were in my situation sir,
Slapping on a fretless isn't that hard to me, the sound's just a bit awkward when I hammer on after playing an open string. Other than that, I don't really see a big difference in fretted vs fretless slapping.
The stereotypical chime in slapping comes from the string hitting the fret so you don't get it with fretless to the same extent. The strings still whack against the neck so they get more attack from slapping but you just don't get that 'zing!' Personally, I don't mind messing around with slapping on fretless because it has it's own sound, but students completely new to slapping could find themselves a little despondent when trying to get the sound they have in their head.
does it make it harder to achieve this if your guitar/strings are SO CHEAP? it’s a really low quality bass and the strings are really far away from the fretboard?

The lesson number you see on RU-vid is simply the order of release. So (L#1) was the first lesson I released and this video is the 158th. You shouldn't work through them in order as a progressive list. Some early ones are more advanced and some later ones are for beginners. If you want to see all the videos just go to my channel page and click on videos and they're all there. Or even better, go to the Lesson Map at Talkingbass.net where I've got all the lessons categorized.
