I agree with you on the writing of the 'keywords' on the cards themselves.. I had done this for years until I FINALLY found a deck that just clicked with me & I just 'knew it' then .. which was the Witch's Tarot the new revised version. Anyhow, I had written the meanings on the cards for years. I had even printed some decks & then on the backside written the meanings on the blank side & then laminated them. those were WONDERFUL.. GREAT VIDEO.. I just sub'd you .. thanks

My first tarot deck was the Starman tarot and this deck is so amazing and full of unique artwork, depth and interpretations. The artist of this deck used the album cover art from his past work with David Bowie as his inspiration for the deck, so there is definitely this galactic rocker type feeling with them. I totally connected immediately with this deck because it had such a positive and transformative energy which resonated with my own personality. I'd definitely recommend that people look into adding this deck to your collection because it isn't simply a tarot deck, but so much more. If you're an artist like me, this deck is a definite must have because there is such an unlimited amount of unique artwork and sacred geometry used in the cards. It's also awesome for me, as a light worker/starseed, because of the syfy depictions and how the artist describes the reason why he was inspired when creating each card. So many beneficial uses for this deck, I can't praise it enough. Thx for creating this video for everyone. Loved your energy and how u communicated your own experiences with each deck. I have finally purchased my first tarot deck! It is Shadowscapes. I love how she illustrates the humans with fantasy creatures and her color blends. I have been studying Tarot for some years, and it is RWS inspired so I think I will be ok with Shadowscapes! I will also get Spiritsong, Good Tarot, Tarot 78, and some indie ones, maybe the Santa Muerte. (And some Oracle and other cartomancy decks)

I feel attracted towards Doreen Virtue oracle cards most of them they also look very beautiful I bought the romance angels oracle cards

I began reading Tarot in 1994 and I started out with a Rider-Waite deck. We had fewer options back then and I don't recall seeing any oracle card decks yet. You're right, the RW deck has boring imagery and yet, it is go-to for learning how to read the cards. I also met people who learned how to read playing cards.

I bought the Wild Unknown deck a few years ago for aesthetics but I now realize I want a legit one I can use. The Wild Unknown cards are pretty but I cant decipher the images. I also did not get the book so that might be the issue. However, I feel readi g the images would be easier than flipping a book. I also visited a shop in a town nearby and I feel the Smith-Waite Centennial one resonates with me. But glad you posted this video before I go spending money.

Nice collection! I use and enjoy the Rider-Waite for it's RIGHT and LEFT handed themes. Do you use any other decks that illustrate the Right, "active" (yang) showing what the characters are currently doing with their right hand and the characters using their Left hand, "passive" (yin) illustrating what is incoming or expected?

When I was starting to learn tarot I got a basic Rider Waite (basically for reference) and it really wasn't enough for me, so then I got 3 RWS based decks that all came with good guidebooks for comparative study. I didnt want to learn ina way that would lock me into one deck but a way that would help me better understand d tarot as a system. (I didnt yet know that there were different systems, a d I was really learning rws system more than tarot system. But that's ok because it's still a lot of the tarot system as well- majors, minors, 4 suits, etc) Anyway I got the black cat tarot for something fun and whimsical, the "easy tarot kit" with the gilded tarot, and the mystic dreamer tarot and book (such a good book). All the books were aimed towards people just beginning tarot. They were all similar but with a different perspective so I felt like I had a pretty good basis. The mystic dreamer tarot book also includes exercises for using your intuition and the book is by barbara Moore, which I didnt know at the time but shes a very good tarot teacher/author. I wanted my decks to have standard suits, and standard major's. So I made sure to read reviews and picked out those three because they appealed to me, they seemed different.enough from each other, and because the fit my criteria of everything being standard. Sadly I cant find anything except the mystic dreamer box and the gilded deck. I have newer decks but I miss those early decks. I'm still hoping they will turn up.

Hi! I'm new here and just subscribed. I think you have some wonderful videos so far! I started reading tarot at 16 and started, like most, with Rider-Waite. I absolutely hate that deck, but you are right when you say it's technically the "standard" upon which most other decks are modeled. I only recently started to read again after an almost ten-year hiatus and bought something completely different from RW. I tend to like more whimsical and artistic decks. What are your favorites?

lmao I love rider-waite art! There is something so timeless about the art. And I love LOVE alphonse mucha, but i got the deck and the art didn't speak to me. There wasn't enough of his art in it, as a fan of art nouveau.

The Goddess tarot is the first deck I used (I found her while I was in a New Age store looking for some white sage). I actually took her out and asked if she felt flattered she was featured as one of your favourite decks, and she showed me the Freyja Power card lol

Really informative video! I am thinking of buying my own tarot deck myself - just have to figure out where to hide it since I'm from a really Christian background lol - but I had a question: What do you think of the Illuminated Tarot? It does seem to borrow from both the Rider-Waite deck and the Thoth deck, but it seems like a sort of summary, because you have 53 cards (Ace-King from the 4 different suits plus the "Fool" as the joker) but you can also game play with it. I have looked into it a bit, and I really love the artwork and the way it looks, but do you think it's also suitable as a beginner's deck?

Great video. It's unfortunate that Doreen Virtue said what she did about tarot, mediumship, and other related things and Hay House finally let her go, I hear. Because of her statements and how she treated her fans and followers, I will no longer use any of Doreen's decks. Some were very good but their energies seem tainted. My favorite decks to date are the Green Witch, Everyday Witch, the Victorian Fairy, the Witch's Tarot, and the Gilded Tarot (and any other Ciro Marchetti deck).

The Crystal Vision Tarot really attracts me it spoke to me and I even felt the magical vibe in my stomach

I wish you had talked about the accompanying booklets and how good they were to help you understand the decks. You explained the decks so well, this would have just made it all perfect. I'm looking to buy my first deck, but i don't want to have to buy a beginner book to go along with the deck I buy.

How can I get the bags to put cards in?

Ok this is gonna sound crazy but. When I first decided I'll get a deck of my own so I can start to learn tarot, the only deck I found in the bookstore I went to (yes bookstore, feel free to judge) that was a tarot deck, not an oracle deck, was the Shadowscapes tarot. After a day or two of struggling with it, I bought a standard Rider-Waite-Smith deck to help myself out xd

What would be the best cards for love reading?

Could I make my own? Even as a beginner? I don't have the money to buy one and I'm kinda a closet witch, so buying would be hard. Also, can I just use the main ones (moon, star, lovers, etc.) if I'm not finished with them all (all the swords, wands, etc.)? Sorry if these are stupid questions. I just kinda need answers.

The first decks I brought was the wild unknown tarot by kim krans and the rumi oracle by alana fairchild. I hate the wild unknown the vibe of it is low and depressing to me and I noticed because when I use the rumi oracle I can actually feel how much better it is! the vibe is so much higher!!!

I realize that this is an old video... I thought I saw a video where someone said there is an AP with the Rider Waite deck. It would be so easy to refer to what the cards mean when you are starting out. But I couldn’t find anything in the Apple store... :(

Shoudn't the back of the cards be symmetric for all decks? They have different meaning depending if it's reversed or not.
