I can't believe we're almost at 100k subs! Thank you! I've just released a video on advanced tips you need to know in Sons Of The Forest, check out the video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z0d3UkT9_PM.html
Can't believe it's 100k. Your videos are exquisite in detail, quality, and style of builds, as well as editing, music, and narration, in several popular games. Here's to 100k soon, and hopefully 1M not too far off. Maybe need a few "Over the Top" builds to go viral, and the views and subs will flow in.
i found a glitch too making the spiked fence if you put a half log it will stay in your hand but another one will fall outta no where me and my friends had a ball with it. the river idea we did too learn it by mistake just dropping them into the river lol
When it comes to the doors, you can hang the target on there. what it does is: You may have to crouch through the door, but it also keeps the normal height AI enemies from getting in
your base is lame when winter comes then enemy can just attack it coming over the ice. Just go to option set structure damage off and boom nobody can harm your base...... be smart not dumb.
1:05 I can actually see a way to improve this even further. If youre further up stream and a bit away from the river, then build a Zipline that ends right in the middle of the river, and send the logs down the Zipline and when they drop off at the end they land in the river and keep "traveling" to the dam.
Just found this game and already LOVING IT!! fist night in found a entertainment den and was abducted by a mutant, and had to cut my way though a caccoon. and now I'm learning you can build like minecraft with hella better graphics?!?!?! GAME ON!! although I'm a horrable archetect so it will probably turn into more of a youtube binging "WOW" thing then a actual playing thing... awesome video!!
Started building a water base with a few friends and it's nice to see there's some cool other builds. I also figured out that you can place a single plank across a gap and the cannibals will almost never go across it, not to mention if you have an arch across the bridge to your base the big guys can't even get under that half the time so you're always pretty safe.
I spent almost 2 hours building my first base. One thing I wish I knew was the C key to remove a log. I kept using the axe to break the log and half of the time, it would destroy the piece beside what I wanted to remove.
My friend and I were wondering why the water didn't freeze next to our base, I'll have to see if leaving the area helps. We are beneath the massive waterfalls with the coffins with all the rope, and the water up top froze just not down in the river where we are, which we thought was because it's flowing water. Interested now to see if we can get it to freeze lol.
"You are lost on an island without communication and are tasked with finding a rich and powerful man that's been missing!" "Now this treehouse should have a rope that goes over the lake..."
I like how we are in a helicopter crash and instead of getting bearings and finding the missing crew, the first thing we do is build a whole log cabin.
I found a perfect place to build, and I use stone, not wood. Except for the floor framing, I haven't figured out how to do that with stone. SE part of the island near the snowline next to a small that has fatal funnels on either side. Excellent for setting up defenses. I have found stone to be a much better choice for building strength. Once you have exhausted the stones in an area, just quit and log back in and they are refreshed.
Its only snippets of the story bro chill out this is just early access 🤣 they are going to add the story and bosses and all of that in 8 days and also new items and crafting options and probably enemies and whatever else we don't even know about when the full access is released, no need to quit unless it's temporarily 😂
where you show the beach when talking about sea bases is where I built mine. I did it so I can have the ammo spawn. there is a meds spawn, soda spawn, and two mre also. also the radio, two crates, and an explosive case. the river is right there also...
Great video! Very helpful, but I think it could be even better if you tried scripting it first. That way you can minimize trailing off into silence and stuttering your way through sentences :)
I really hope they add the platforms that were useful in the prequel, they are kind of cheating but at least you could use them as stepping stones and build a base fully on water without issue
Looks like this is 2 weeks ago so someone may have commented this already....locks have been added by placing a stick. Maybe it's cause I did it wrong but it appears to only be on the outside of the door which seems a little silly.
Hey! Great videos!! Didn't play the first one but thinking of getting into this because of your content. I am noticing that the links for your other videos aren't popping up in the right hand corner when you mention them.. is it just me? Keep up the awesome work!
Hey! I'm so glad you're enjoying the content! If you click the i icon in the top right (if you're on pc) then the videos should show, I may not have put the videos up at the exact time I mentioned in the video, so will check that now :) I hope you continue to enjoy the content!
Saw the lake house build earlier, loved that as well. Also, love the composed music. It's better than the game's music, and pairs well with the tips and demos format videos.
It is indeed, if you want it - checkout my video on location and how to get it (use the timestamps) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZvrA5C44hY.html
15:20 you can play with that shape a little as well. Instead of placing the little logs in, try building a roof/ramp and cutting the middle vertical support in half or 3/4, and the roof section will drop, creating a wing-like effect with the roof/ramp. It's a neat effect I accidentally found in the middle of my cabin that was supposed to fit 8 people comfortably, so it was quite frustrating to fix.
Great video :) something i've found while playing is that log holders catch falling logs, so you can add some log holders at the end of your zipline to prevent the logs from flying away!
I'm struggling with getting things level! i like the intuitive building over the first game but it's a bit too technical for me. can't get anything right lol
This is the second video I've seen of yours and I can honestly say that your content for SOTF is consistently better than other people on this platform
any good tips to keep mobs from ever reaching the bridge/water base? I like building but mobs getting close to my area is annoying when I wanna just chill hahah
The Spiffing Brit beat the game in under an hour using only sticks, a mylar tarp save spot, and a couple perfectly balanced exploits. (Soooo annoying, but hillarious nonetheless, amiright?) But on the other hand, my theory of games, is that once you add any buildable aspects to the game, it becomes a builder game, and that always overrides any other intent of the game, because people love to build stuff, whether like LGIO, ImKibitz, or Total's style, or something completely different. The only way to beat the game is to enjoy playing it your own way. :-) But seriously. Half hour, one stick. Really? XD
i wonder if this works for The Forest too 🎋 Just got it yesterday, at such a nice price (5€), as Sons of The Forest is not even confirmed to ever come to PS5 (and other consoles)🎋 Your theory makes sense: don't even begin to build anything 🎋 XQc and his team almost never got back to their base anyways, and they did finish the game 🎋
if you dont want to cut logs you can also get unlimitted logs, go into the book and place down the cabin template, then go up to it looking at one of the corners and hold c, you may have to move back a little also, Enjoy xD
the hedgehog spikes are mentioned in the guide book tho .. i think theyre under stick structures .. i know for a fact that i saw them there and started building them .. i for sure didnt find that out myself
Fantastic video. Thanks! Can you show any tips on how to fix when framing gets uneven due to terrain? Sometimes it being not level prohibits you from building a part of a frame.
@19:24 that tree is fighting for its life to hold up the platform lol ; great video, really appreciate how you sectioned it out depending on what one is trying to build as I had a ton of problems trying to figure out making flooring and its great being able to quickly reference it in this video. I smashed that like and subscribe!!!
My biggest gripe is how to disassemble storage, especially logs. I’ve built a 3 story cabin and have the logs zip line onto the floors. Once I’m done I end up destroying part of my house to remove.
If you can not extend treehouses & tree platforms with normal building techniques that means there is no real way to build a tree base or fort past the prebuilt ones in the build menu. I was hoping to build my base off the ground to stem the tide of constant attacks. They tend to become quite large and frequent as you progress through the mid to late game.
yea I have given up trying to build a base because the big guy with the club just destroys it anyway. I tried putting spikes around my camp but they just break them too. So whatever.
@@simply_the_dev7588 i've had success building a defensive wall around my base, and then 2 layers of reinforced spikes around the outside of that. If you only put one layer, the enemies can jump over them. It took a while to set up, but enemies will tend to kill themselves on the traps while you shoot them from the safety of your base.
14:14 I haven't played the game yet so I don't know, Can you crawl under that hieght? It might make an interesting alternate entrance if the Cannibals can't figure it out.
Lol a duplicating trick i found.. was putting 2 half logs on the ground vertically on top of each other, then take a full log and put the circle on the ground beside it (should snap) then just start spamming EDIT: yeah just like building a defensive wall.. and the host cant do this only people that join in multiplayer
I sent Kelvin to fill up the log storage, and then I follow and pick up every lock he does because it gives you 2 free ones to. He will loose the first one to you and then the next two he gets come from nothing.
24:48 im pretty sure this water trick doesnt work anymore. I was building ans lost track of time and then the water froze on me. It made for difficult survival since there was no food or water to get.
So I build a VERY basic cabin.. just a 2x4 one story house.. But after seeing your lakehouse build, I am INSPIRED. Currently upgrading the first base, but I absolutely will be building a lake house once I get further into the game. Appreciate all the tips and tricks!
Hey brother, can you explain how you were able to put complete logs and not have them split where there is a triangular roof, it is from the house in the water, it is the only thing that failed me when making the house, greetings 👍
How is the text in your manual so clear ? In my settings menu the words are crisp but any words in game like the date on the gps or the words in the book are so pixelated and choppy looking
I appreciate you, and like you I try to catch the hype, but it's difficult for anyone to believe a guide to be ultimate before even the first (in-game, announced by devs!) update is out. If you don't have defensive wall gates, that's why. Also a way to keep worm guys out. Currently on day 50, dunno what more monsters will surface and so builds will have to adjust. Right? :)
for the worms, I have a couple of patches of reinforced spikes (5-6 per patch) slightly away from my base walls. They will roll over them when trying to get to your walls, and kill themselves. If they don't die on the first pass, you can run out and kite them around a bit so they run over more spikes.
Bro I love your Satisfactory builds. Pleasantly surprised to see you doing Sons of the Forest builds and if it's anything like Satisfactory, I know it's gonna be 110% quality. What do you think about the overall state of the game? The building and how super early access it is?
I'm loving the game, I think they've done a good job with their approach to early access, the things they've released are pretty stable and they have the skeleton of a great game, but they need to add more flesh to the game itself, as for the building, now that I understand the system I'm loving it, but it's very grindy to do anything big. Not sure how they can change that though. Super excited to see how it develops!
I think that's a good thing right? - incidentally I have a beginners guide to building in the forest that does cover tent building, here it is, in case you need it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7qer3OZlNNs.html
Doesn't this one have the same system as the first, AS WELL as the new custom mode? I've only played SotF, but it sounds like the blueprint mode is what they had in the first one?
That’s not a measure of beginner vs pro. Everybody has their own needs and aspirations. If my only essential needs are covered, and I don’t aspire to anything more than leaving the island, then that’s all that’s required. Just because someone doesn’t aspire to “greatness”, doesn’t mean their unfit for it. You’re not everybody’s arbiter! Certainly not mine!
That's fair enough, I never said I was everyone's cup of tea. Great thing about this game is it can be played however anyone wants. But in the game of RU-vid SEO is king and statements like beginner Vs pro work.
MISSED ONE Reinforced Hedgehog Spike Plant a stick in the ground. Place Three rocks around it. Cut for hedgehog spike. If you look at the skull lamp thing where you make a light, it hints at doing this. I have a 20m area around my front with these layered and some fires just for fun, Even the big worm guy can't make it past them. Side note: Place a palisade line with the tops cut to spikes, then place a line of reinforced spikes right up against the wall ON THE INSIDE AREA.the spikes will hit anyone that gets close to the wall and they can't be destroyed as they are technically sticking through the wall.
@@TotalXclipse I did But I was also playing while watching the video and must have missed the reinforcement part. Only just figured out you can cut them so they stick out of a wall
I have build my house on the top of a small hill next to a lake cause the enemies cant swim. How can I build my house on level ground despite sloping ground?
I only just started plying sons of the forest, but I noticed in the forest the prequel that even if I had structure damage turned off the mutants would still destroy the trees that my tree bases were in. It’s not that they were attacking the trees, but the trees were being destroyed while they tried to attack me. Has anyone encountered this in sons of the forest?
I have a quick question about ropes, i want to build defensive tower (3 stories high), will i be able to just look from the ground at the top of tower and place a rope?
Must be nice to actually build something because in my game the native tribesman are constantly attacking me no matter where I start my camp. I can't build anything and have given up on building a camp and instead just save points across the map as I run around like a little chicken.
I just loaded up the game, went through both sides of the book and didn't see any water catchers or any recipes that use the tortoise shell. I tried placing sticks and then placing the shell on top like you would with cloth / skulls, but that didn't work either. I even tried making a square fence and placing the shell on top of that. As far as I can tell, you can only hold the shell out in front of you... what am I missing?
@@DeathBean89 I got the same problem. I cant shape the stick with the axe with red outline. I can only sharpen it for defensive use, so itll point forward...
There is a log glitch that i find good to use: 1. Place 2 logs on the ground in a connected L shape. 2. Place an upward log on the corner 3. Place a log on the ground in the corner where all 3 meet (you should see the white circle appear on the ground) 4. When you do this, it won't let you place it, but it will refund you a log. 5 (optional) place some log holder beside you as close as possible and it will catch the ejected logs to stop them falling on you and pushing you out of the glitch zone. Edit: to be clear, this glitch is on multiplayer only and works when you are not the host as far as I’m aware.
@@NightOwlGames it’s easier initially, I agree. However the other one is a lot faster once you do the initial setup. My friend that I play with on our server uses the log and stick method and I can easily do 5 times as many logs as him over 5 mins
@@ethenjordan2010 I didn’t say I found it. I saw it on another post and was passing on the information to try and help people who hadn’t seen the same post. Thanks for commenting though. Have a nice day :)

@@BruceWaynge okay while i agree, we should be criticising them for giving us such an empty game. Release date should mean something. Sadly, it looks like no company is taking an official release date seriously.
@@maxlu2456 Usually every company will come out with an early access to get feedback from players and leave room for improvement, if they added more then they would have set too much up before being able to fix any problems that might happen in the future
