Welcome to the 5 Day Beginner Yoga Journey!
Day 1 is all about the basics, the fundamentals, the feel good poses, the movements you and your body are going to love and want more of. We'll focus a hella lot on the breath by breathing in and out of nose (no mouth participating, unless I cue it).
It's simple, I promise. Okay yoga fam, let's get on with it.
Unroll that mat, put on some comfortable yoga gear (unless you prefer naked yoga), turn down the distractions, and let's get started.

Just finished Day 1! I'm a day late to the game, but I can't tell you how thankful I am for this series. I took a break from yoga these past few weeks and I'm so glad to be back. This is one of my favourite beginner videos now. I love how you took us through a slow, but challenging flow. I already feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Namaste and thank you so much!

What an awesome first day! I am a beginner (only doing 10 minutes a day for almost 30 days now) and this is the first time for a long class - LOVED IT! I see myself coming back to this on a regular basis. Thank you for making this available.

Woo-hoo you made it through Day 1, that's an achievement in of itself! And 10 minutes is sooooo good, keep that up and you'll continue flowing for 30, 45, and 60 minutes plus. Thank you for being part of the journey, glad you're enjoying it!

Day 1 done! truly a beautiful sequence, I really liked how you had us focus on 3 things your grateful for today. I really needed that reminder to always stay grateful. I've been doing yoga for a few months now, and this sequence improved my table top! yay! thank you thank you thank you! ❤

You Rock Cyndi, thanks for joining and participating in the journey! I love the gratitude practice to begin or end your yoga practice and also to do in the morning in a notebook/journal. I keep a small notebook at my work desk to jot down 3 things every day (I miss some days here and there) and it's such a mood booster/changer - highly recommend it! Great class! I used to do your more advanced but I had a baby 6 months ago and am just coming back to yoga so it was a great slow introduction for my weaker mom bod. Appreciate it!

Just started this beginner yoga journey today, as I felt I needed to go back to basics and give my body some soft love. Am such in an emotional space and I felt such a release and so much love in my heart at the end of this class. I ended it in tears, which it very unusual for me, but it felt good. Such a release and such a beautiful feeling. Thank you so much Allie.

I was forced to take a Yoga break. I had a really bad knee injury back in april and I'm still not fully recovered but I finally want to get back into Yoga and this is just perfect, I hope to master the poses again somehow (my right knee still only bends 90°) ... wish me luck on this new journey. And thank you Allie for motivating me to get back into it :)

Hi love, so sorry to hear about your knee and having to take a break from your yoga practice. I totally understand as I went through that same experience, it's zero fun. Now that you're feeling better, welcome back to your mat & thanks for joining me, feeling super special :) Make sure to take it slow, modify always, keep a big blanket under your knees, and keep the breath present and steady. I have done many yoga videos and this by far has been my favorite. It was so calming and slow paced yet really thorough and vigorous. The pace was perfect, I was able to focus on the poses and my body's reactions. I can't wait for the rest of the days. Thank you so much for sharing your passion :)

Thoroughly enjoyed that class! Thank you very much. It was my early morning practice. I loved practising Crescent Moon and transitioning to Warrior 2 (particularly as I had just just done the Warrior 2 pose as part of your 30 pose journey yesterday 😊) I transitioned very gracefully I should let you know😂 Also, some sweat for the first time during home practice ... I'm here in cool, wet ol' Ireland 🇨🇮 thanks again for a lovely class.

I just finished this and it was amazing! I've tried yoga before but this was the best I've ever done. My 7 month old woke up halfway through so I had to pause and get him, but other than that it was great.

The first poses all seated were so hard! Is a forward fold supposed to be so difficult if it's the first pose in the first day of a beginner yoga journey? I couldn't fold forward at all! I barely even got my fingertips to touch the mat in front, let alone my forearms. And the only forward movement my body did was dropping my head down with my neck. My back doesn't move at all. Is that normal to begin? How can I improve that? I can only get forward if I spread my legs out wide, but cross-legged it's impossible. Also, if crossing my legs hurts my ankles and thighs, will that improve?

Hi Alicia! This is one of my oldest sets of videos and I've definitely learned that it was hard for most beginners. I would suggest checking out my Back to Yoga Basic series instead - www.thejourneyjunkie.com/backtoyogabasics - as it has much better material for beginner students. And to answer your questions about forward folds - a lot of it has to do with anatomy and how tight your hamstrings are. Only ever go as far as you can without rounding in the low back and don't lock the knee joints. If you're looking to improve, I recommend using a strap!

‘‘Tis is very nice but I really do NOT enjoy yoga when trying to listen to directions and focus on breathe and actually make sure I’m in proper position 🙄 ugh it just makes me frustrated and I stop 🛑 and give up everytime 🔥😤

hello i just completed day 1. I am overweight and therefore i struggle with few poses. warrior pose, plank. I feel slightly stretched muscles in forearm and wrist area. is that normal? anyone experienced these? otherwise i feel awaken and full of energy. .

Hi, if you're new to the practice and new to movement in general, it's definitely normal to feel like your muscles worked, but never pinching, piercing or pain! I have a series called Back to Yoga Basics under "beginner yoga classes", definitely go check them out!

I am very inflexable and cant even sit with my legs crossed. Is it ok to just modify my sittlng position? It really hurts and this is only the first class :

Hi Stef! It's definitely okay babe, always okay to modify! I recommend sitting on top of a block, bolster or a folded blanket to help ease into the posture. The tone quality is not that good. Please work on the sound. Also the sourrounding sound is disturbing. all in all a nice video

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Since this video, we've updated our equipment and our sound quality is much better. Also, the actual environment is something I LOVE and get wonderful feedback on. Yes, there are disturbances from time to time, because I'm outdoors, but as is life. Thanks for tuning in, feel free to browse more videos and find what you like, or maybe not.

Oh this is great. And you are right. Since you are close to nature the sourrounding sounds are really normal. I will continue watching your videos because you are very sympathetic and your flows are nice for beginners like me. Thank you for your videos and your enthusiasm.
