In this video, I demonstrate how to paint a minimalistic seascape using just two colors plus white: Prussian blue and Burnt umber. This easy step-by-step tutorial will guide you through creating a stunning seascape with a limited color palette. By adjusting the ratio of these colors, you can mix a wide range of harmonious hues, achieving a beautiful palette without the risk of muddiness. This method ensures your colors blend seamlessly, resulting in a cohesive and visually striking painting.
I'd like to hear from you in a comment what you think of this color combination and if you will use these colors in your art.

Thank you Lisa! Hope you enjoy painting these simple sescapes. They are so relaxing to paint and you can't go wrong with them, as long as the colors match each other nicely, you will always get a nice result! Thank you for your comment❤

Which tape do you use? Mine rips the paper.

The pink tape I use isTesa Sensitive tape, that really works wel. Even if you don't use Gesso, this Tesa tape does not damage your paper. The yellow tape you see me using in other video's is much stronger and I use it only on paper that I first prepare with Gesso. Gesso is indispensable for me. Gesso ensures that the paper doesn't absorb the paint too much, allowing the paint to glide smoothly over the surface. This means you use less paint, and even if the tape you use has a strong adhesive, it is less likely to damage. Another important tip: remove the tape as quickly as possible before the paint is completely dry; otherwise, it can still pull off pieces of paper or paint during removal. Washi tape usually works well too, as it doesn't stick as strongly. So, I find gesso is the answer to the problem if you paint with acrylics and want to use tape. If you don't have gesso, you can reduce the stickiness of the tape by pressing it against your table or clothes first. If paints sticks to the paper you can use a hairdryer of heatgun (be careful) and when the tape gets a bit warm, it is also easier to remove. I wrote an article about gesso on my blog, which you can find at www.tinekederaat.nl. The article is in Dutch, but I guess Google Chrome will translate it for you. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching the video! (maybe I should make a video about this topic;)

I forgot to mention this: always pull the tape AWAY from your painting at a 45-degree angle. I sometimes forget this step, but since I use gesso, it’s usually not a problem.
