I tried the derma roller a few weeks before my middle daughters wedding, my skin improved so much that I use it at least once a week now, it is amazing how much better the product penetrates the skin, no more dry skin for me, thanks for showing how to use the derma roller and giving me the confidence to use it.
Girlfriend, I have learned so much from you over the last several months! I gotta tell ya, I've gotten a lot of compliments from strangers lately too, thanks to you. I now know how to put on makeup, hide wrinkles, do my hair better, and build a shoe closet! Ummm, however, I did hire someone to do the shoe closet. I'm a wimp. Hugs!
Thanks for this video Monique. I have TWO dermarollers which have been sitting around for a few years because I've been too chicken to start using them. One day while using my dermaroller, I decided to start looking for one that was a bit smaller in width. Well during my search I found one that has several different roller attachments for one handle. There is 1 roller that is actually only two rows of needles wide for those tight areas such as around the nose. There is also one that fits on finger tip with quite a few needles for you to use on surface of ur nose. Those were the 2 that peeked my interest enough to purchase. But there is a roller really wide to do areas such as legs as well. There is also 2 rollers that are most common. I love having different options. I know I can reach every nook and cranny. I think i purchased on eBay.
I don't tend to comment, but I had to throw my 2 cents in: I'm 45 and everyone agrees that I look like I'm in my early 30's. I attribute this to good genes and oily skin, but my actual secret is Korean sunscreen. It's easy to get off amazon for the same price as American stuff and it is 1000x better. My favorite is from The Face Shop (Natural Sun 40spf), but there are dozens of choices that are all good. Korean quality is very high and most importantly, it doesn't smell like sunscreen. I've tried many brands at this point and not one has smelled like sunscreen. Some of them have strong fragrances that linger, but you never walk into a room and have everyone know that you've covered every inch of exposed skin in sunscreen. I thought this was an important point to make when Monique is touching on Retinol and skin care in general: Always wear your sunscreen! I wear mine under foundation instead of a primer; once you find one that works for you, it won't be one more annoying step anymore and you won't be tempted to "forget" it. Never leave the house without sunscreen!
The Face Shop is chemical. If you require a physical sunscreen product, Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish 50spf is another favorite of mine. It has a lot drier finish that works better for me in the summer. It will leave a slight white cast until you work it in or if you have a darker complexion.
Thanks for that important reminder! Luckily, I worked in an office most of my life, away from the sun. And on weekends I had enough sense to wear sunscreen while my girlfriends fried on the beach with baby oil! On of those girls (my same age) gets asked if she's my older sister when we go out to dinner. Ouch.
I always want to try this on my lips. But I just have this huge phobia about needles. I have one and I look at it and I look at it and I just can't bring myself to apply it to my lips. I've been derma rolling for over 3 years. I always follow the procedure with quality products....some are DIY, i.e.: C serum. I also use Rentin-A, retinol, hyaluronic acid...the list is long. I also use NuFace and the Lift Wand. As for sunblock, that is a no brainer. An equal contributor is nutrition. You can't camouflage a 'sick interior' with paint. You reflect that beautifully.
Asma: My daughter just turned 30....and she has been derma rolling for 3 years as well. We use the 1.5 with great results. I use it 3 times/wk...face, neck and chest area. We also do our hands...as it is great for maintaining youthful hands as well. There is minimal discomfort, and you will become accustomed to it easily. I also use the Vit C serum on my hands:). You won't be sorry!!

I'm new to the anti ageing game...been playing for just over 2 weeks...I've ignored my skin...shame on me and I'm now 49...so with the help of youtube videos such as yours, I'm learning that I can fight this and have begun to do just that...I've purchased lotions and potions, make my own Vit C, use facial massage, face yoga and other exercises twice daily...Tonight was the derma roller night...was apprehensive but it wasn't too painful...not bad really...even the lips were ok...can't wait to see the results as my other routines are showing some progress...I'm encouraged...thanks for all of your tips...hugs and mooches

Edit: Also, I'm black a woman, is dermarolling OK? I saw someone on the comments say it might not be good for black skin. I've not experienced issues so far.

Thanks for this demo as I wasn’t sure how to use this. I understand it may take up to 6 months to see results, but it make sense that products would sink into your skin better. I have been using sunscreen for years as I had a spot on my arm so I know how important this is. I asked the Dr which one was better and his answer was “the one you use” and don’t trust the no on makeup as you aren’t applying enough to reach that no. Thanks for this great info!!
Hi everyone, just joined and heard about you Monique, from a customer at the store today when discussed dermarolling. Loved your video, and have watched many on utube from all kinds of people . The consensus from most is you don't want to use too often, right? If you do, it does not allow the collagen to build up, and it destroys that process. They say let it rest 4-6 weeks in between and it takes about 4-6 months to really start seeing results. It depends on the size roller you use too. I did one treatment and was very pleased, got pretty red, but it left the next day. Did my neck and hands too!
I am 68 and I have been using a derma pen at 1.0 once a month for four months now . My acne scars and large pores are almost disappearing. The lines around my lips are gone and they are soooo much softer. I use a .25 derma roller once a week to get products deeper. I do use retinol .5. I was just at my 50th reunion and my out of state girlfriend said that I looked ten years younger than everyone else!
Hi Monique, I have derma-needled before and I always get a cold sore breakout on my lips.....every time. As a matter of fact I have not had a cold sore for years until I started derma needling. I believe that collagen helps with slowing aging too. a lot of traditional asians eat tendons from bulls too. and for a moisturizing mask, you can blend or mash half an avacado and mix with 2 tablespoons of honey, and some green tea to help with the redness or even dark circles under eyes. wear the mask for 10-30 mins. then wash face off with warm water then rinse with cold water after and lightly pat dry. :)

I don't know if you remember but about 2 months ago I was telling you how upset I was cause doc wouldn't give me a percriction of retinol ... well today I finally went to specialist and not only did I get retinol but I also got Botox!!!!!!I was not at all expecting to do that but when he said 100 bucks to do my forehead I was so friggin happy!!!!!I can never tell my husband LOL. I am waiting for my derma roller in the mail now . I'm so happy. so funny this video went up today LOL

I paid a doctor' s practice way too much for dermarolling. Of course, theirs is a little more high tech. Since watching you, I've begun doing it myself saving much money. Love it, love the serums as well !

Thank you. First try (ordered this La Fontaine age defense and received a 2.0 derma roller) so for first try used this. I think excellent results, need to remember to lightly roll. Will try again in a week or so depending upon the results coming in. Sort of like a wind burn ( with this Irish skin and everything that could and can irritate it has done so - recovering red head.) Like the fresh feeling the second and third day. Agin thank you for product referral and instructions. I am looking forward to this as a regular treatment.
Hello Ms. Monique, I followed the link you added to LaFontaine cosmetics and loved what I saw! Unfortunately, I loved a bit too much and now have run into an issue. I wrote to the company's customer service, but perhaps you could help with my question as well? I turn 35 on Monday, so while the retinol serum offers myriad benefits for my mission to age as gracefully as possible, LaFontaine also has a vitamin C serum that offers many benefits as well, including fading post-acne marks, which I still struggle with, without fail, every month. My question: could I get both and use them on varying days, such as retinol on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and then use vitamin C on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday? Or retinol one week, vitamin c the next? Or should I choose just one serum? I aspire to improve the quality of my skin, then to maintain that quality for as long as I can. If you find the time to offer me advice, I would be oh so grateful! I hope all is well, Allison

That's so funny, I catch myself racing through the derma-rolling procedure also. Constantly have to remind myself to slow down. So addicted to this. I do it every other night using retinol and opposite night Retin A. Definitely think it helps to slow down aging. Thanks for the tutorial.

I have very fair skin and I always have like a blue tinge under my eyes. Ive tried peach tone concealer and tarts shape tape, I’ve used highlighter setting powder. Can you do a video on this? Thank you! 💕🙏🏻

@monique parent. I just started derma rolling and to be totally honest , I really like it better than the PDM system the one with the suction tips. I can feel it working when I put my serum on. I can actually can tell my skin care products does absorb better. However I am a little red. PMV system left scaring and it,has taken weeks for it to heal. Well that my experience.
I got mine about a week ago, I've seen great reduction in my dark patches. I can do my face but my neck really feels it. Even afterwards yawza! Mine is squeaky too!

Did you start with the .2, Monique? I tried using one, I don't know what millimeter, and it really hurt, so that sounds like a great idea to start out with this .2.
I am to afraid to use the derma roller. I'm afraid of damaging the skin and creating scar tissue!!! Anyway, your skin looked radiant if that was the next day!!! Something to consider, but for now I'll stick to the Retin A, and Retinol creams every other day.

I ran across this video several months back. I found a .25 titanium with vit C serum. I'm not scaredy cat to needles since I have to give myself B12 shots....was my thinking. So I was a little shocked that even the day after although my face looked great and plump and the cigarette lines around my lips have diminished greatly even from the first use. That the use of even a .25 did bring a little blood to the bridge of my nose and I still feel this morning where I feel like I've had needles on my face but it's worth it I'm going to get a .5 for the acne scarring from meds I had to take after a surgery, and those good old wrinkles. I used a great serum that has every wonderful oil in the world in it & Hydrolonic acid and with it too made by Dimitri James. I use his skin care products called SKINN. Which everything he makes even the makeup helps your skin. I and I had asked you a question about what to do about crepey eyes and using his eye shadow really helps the look & the feel BTW. This was my very first time and I remembered watching this video and you using the Hydralonic acid afterwards and I know you take extremely good care of your skin since it is your profession to look wonderful. So I knew I was safe and doing this, I had asked my much younger sister in law who's already had a face lift couple of years ago at the age of 45, who works for a plastic surgeon if I could use that serum right after dermarolling, suggested use it the next day. I guess she doesn't understand that it helps our skin. I think I'll just do the dermarolling and the great serum Serum after my treatments which as I remember in another dermarolling video you did you said twice a week? I did I did watch a video that she was supposed to be an esthetician and she said you could use it every other day. At this point the way my face feels the second day I don't think tomorrow I will be dermarolling for a second time. I will be going with your suggestion of twice a week. And the serum I use from SKINN is called Secret Elixir. Tomorrow's color the hair day anyway so even if I'd been dermarolling for six weeks I don't think it would be a good day to do the treatment before or after hair dye, permanent hair dye at that. I'm still not as Brave As You Are and going totally Gray! I don't have the pretty gray that you do and I have three hair types one fine, one a little thicker, and one real thick and curly. Soo at 55 my hair is very long, very thick, and can be rather uncontrollable without the use of the right hair products and thank God for argan oil. But I just had to look up this video again to make sure that you were using hydrolonic acid right after your dermarolling because in my mind that is only logical to do. So thanks Monique for the great video and tips. I've learned a lot watching your videos and you've shown me how now to put makeup on in my 50s, instead of the way I did in my thirties which I was still doing when I did wear makeup which even aged me more. I've actually started wearing it again. :-)
I love your videos. I think I should try this, I'm 66 and could use some fine tuning. My one concern is I'm allergic to nickel based metal and don't know if this would cause a major rash. Has anyone ever brought this up?
Tina L Frazier , I'm allergic to nickel also, well actually to almost everything but mainly when my skin is exposed to it for awhile such as a buckle on a watch or the button on my jeans, etc.. It would probably depend on the severity of your allergies and how quickly you react to metals. If I can ever find the time to try this I'm not really concerned about it bothering my personal allergies. Maybe ask your doctor first if it's a big concern? Or take a Benedryl first if you're not that worried about it. Just my .05 cents worth....sorry couldn't resist that one.
Titanium is used in medical device implants due to its biocompatibility. Tina, I would think that you are not reactive to titanium, but check the return policy when you purchase the product.
Do you think you could get similar results using something like the Neutrogena dermabrasion device? I have very sensitive skin with rosacea and am a little leery of dermarollers.

Random request but as you I'm a mature woman and I'm sixty. I'm interested in body makeup. when we get older our chest, neck and back and upper arms get spotty and discolored with sun damage. when we get dressed up with fashion necklines it might be worth trying body makeup. was thinking of using leg makeup. I know their is a leg spray in the drugstore. Curious how that would work. might be other options? don't see anybody covering this. thanks. by the way I have a derma roller and haven't used it. will have to actually try it. thanks again.
