I'm 69 and find this hilarious. I remember the cassette player being an exciting innovation! Fun times wether cheap or expensive. The ultimate disaster when the player ate the tape!
ooooo yes that’s a disaster! Here i’ll make you feel young with my wire recorder: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f5rcuuuV8F8.htmlsi=fpFwfuRtAWGcKmqO
So man you look SO familiar to me. I thought at first I couldn't have met you because you're from New York, but then you said you're from Michigan and now I'm sure I've met you somewhere in time, because I'm from Michigan too! I lived in Ann Arbor and Ypsi, I played music in the area, too, though I'm a mega hermit. Anyway, great videos, just found you here.
haha! I lived in Ann Arbor for a while...played in a band called Groove Spoon, and I also played a lot of electric blues around Michigan in my early days. could be that? thanks for commenting!
I found a completely fine and working Tascam 688 at a local pawn shop after finding the post on Reverb for $600, it was priced as such because the pawn shop owner couldn't figure out how to use the digital routing system. I took a blank tape to the shop and tested it myself and walked out the door that day with it. Sometimes knowing a bit of lost knowledge will help you
I got cables coming "out the wazoo" and thought I was familiar with all the flavors of them.... I've never seen an insert cable before.. and I've always wondered why some gear has a +single+ port for insert... Now I know. Thank you!
it’s most commonly called a “stereo breakout” and almost always marks “tip” and “sleeve” on one end we aren’t born with any knowledge! thanks for watching and i’m stoked to share
yes... many walkmans are simply cassette players for listening to music, but a Dictaphone has a little microphone on it to record the voice (i'm sure some walkmans did, too, but that wasn't their main purpose)
