Great instructional video!! I’m almost getting ready to take a dive and jump back into drywall finishing. Learned first how to do it by hand back in the early 2000’s. Slowly piecing my auto set together little by little. Doing small additions and remodeling. Always have enjoyed your guys’ videos. Be well brothers! 💪

Excellent instructions. Auto taping is harder than it looks, but this tutorial covers all the tricks you need to do it well.

Yeah. "Auto Taping". Where is that switch? I always love the comments... "That's way easier than doing it by hand!" Excuse me... you've got easier confused with faster! Then I give them a full tube with a fresh 500" roll of tape on it and have them experience the easy part. Lift that above your head on that 10" ceiling.

Starting the ceiling is my biggest challenge. Great tip rocking back and forth on ceiling. I got lots of mud on me yesterday 😄

I broke my leg by falling off the top of a 4 ft scaffold back in Jan. of this year. Havent worked a day since and have had 2 surgeries. I have an almost brand new tape tech bazooka and was just having fun and a blast using it before my accident. God I miss working and im so tired of sitting around doing nothing. Enjoyed the video!

Damn! Sorry to hear about your leg dude. Hang in there. And there's a lot of us that are tired of sitting around right now. Covid certainly didn't help anything.

I've never used the fibre tape, just paper with my auto taper. Seems like it feeds just fine. Do you find much difference between the two?

Hey was wondering if a name brand bazooka is worth buying used for a first one or is it one of those tools you want to get new ??
@okheresthedeal2384
@okheresthedeal2384 3 года назад
Every part of these tools is replaceable. They have to be cleaned thoroughly and maintained in near perfect condition. Unless you plan on doing large commercial jobs or entire houses this may not be the tool for you. Not sure if they still rent these

No, we do not. We used to but it was too temperamental to work with so we switched back to paper in corners.

seems like all the construction jargon is meant to discourage people from doing what feels could be a much easier to describe process. Holding the drywall tape stick and rolling it along until you get the end.
@drywallnation
@drywallnation 4 месяца назад
Yes, you nailed it, we film these videos to discourage people from learning. Spoken by someone who's clearly never used an automatic taper. It's not that easy to use at first.

Wiping with a 6" knife? I prefer a 8" for about 50 years now. Also, I prefer the "old school" single sided cutting blades for the bazooka so you don't get the double cut. Thankfully, I have a good stock of those units that should last me until I die. LoL! Surprisingly, I don't break many blades. Good videos by the way. Pretty much right on. I've been doing this so long. I don't even think about it. I'd have a hard time explaining this as well as you have.
@drywallnation
@drywallnation 2 года назад
A 6" knife is my go-to carry. I use it for just about everything. It's a good average size for spotting screws, wiping tapes, cleaning 3 ways etc etc. I usually run the taper and have my guys wiping behind me so I only carry a 6". If one of my guys is running the taper and I'm wiping tapes all day then I'll grab an 8" like you. Holds more mud and fills the bevel better. And yeah, those old-school single sided cutting blades were awesome. Haven't seem those around in years though. And thanks for the kind words man. We try to give as much info as possible for the people watching and learning.
@KurtfromLaQuinta
@KurtfromLaQuinta 2 года назад
@@drywallnation Yep. I carry a 6 in my back pocket all the time... well not to bed. LoL! I work exclusively by myself. I have turned into a legit drywall contractor... well Me , Myself and I Drywall. I have hangers that I use when there's more than I want to deal with. They don't like to finish. I don't mind hanging until it's ridiculous for me to deal with. I hang all my own metal. I know what it's supposed to look like. Back "in the day", when all we had were Ames taping tools (until their patent ran out). We, and the company I worked for, would get parts for free from Ames for renting their tools. When my dad quit doing production work, and between him and what I collected, I have quite the supply left over. I've got some of the old blades still made in the U.S.A for 7", 10" and 12" skim box. Very high quality and they last forever too. I should retire, but after 50+ years of doing this.... and people won't leave me alone. I'll continue to work at it. And I'm trying to build a car. I've found there's nobody out there, at least in this area, which used to be an unusual hot bed for drywall work, knows the proper way to use the tools. Everybody that knew has died off. Now there area bunch of geemos who have never been taught how. Every time I think that I've slowed down, I watch these guys work and shake my head. When someone sees me work, they can't believe I'm the only one on the job. I tell them to get out of the way. LoL!

Using the fiber tape is gonna crack all joints lateral. Dummy.. use peper tape
@drywallnation
@drywallnation 2 года назад
It's Fibafuse, not mesh tape. We've been using Fibafuse for over 9 years and it's better in every sense than paper tape. We only use paper tape in our corners. Educated yourself on a subject before leaving ignorant comments.
