I'm doing a job right now that the glue used to install 1/2" drywall on a ceiling (along with 1-3/8" nails ,the norm back in the mid to late 70's here in SoCal) has now FAILED!! The ceiling is falling down, in fact HAS fallen down in one area. This to me proves there is a need for mechanical fastening too, more than just "till the glue dries".

It’s possible that they waited too long after applying the glue to hang the boards. I have seen that before. If the glue begins to cure before they hang the board the adhesive will not work. The ones that are applied then board hung immediately will hold great.

Looks good guys. You have a good system. Tell your hangers... start the stairwell with a two foot rip or 610mm , And then there will be no need of an expansion joint ✌️

@@Maxkil that makes sense. That’s a practice here in the states on commercial jobs to use expansion joints between floor. And any continuous wall or ceiling over 30 feet or 9.14 meters. Typically in hallways of apartment, hotels etc... Residential homeowners usually do not want to see expansions. I’ve seen on a couple videos of yours, long sheets loaded on the floor. What the length of those sheets? We use 16’s (4.88m) here

Nice work clean and tight. Tis a small job and alot of guys though. Lucky you dont have top angles to do and three ways. Im sure that people need to know how to do angles the most as tgey are most important

It's actually fine atleast at the 10 year mark these Northstar boxes are quite easy to run. Some others you gotta press a bit harder if you don't have the mud super watered down which we don't like but these boxes are very easy to push and the mud comes out super easy even if it's a bit thick

@@Maxkil "Crown moldings, also called sprung cove moldings, are the decorative trims used to cover the seam where ceiling and wall meet. got that off Google. hey your crew is excellent, will be searching for your install of the plaster cornice. thanks for the response and the vids

Yes but it's called cornice in Australia though and it's made from gypsum like the plasterboard and gets glued on

So much time. I can run 10,000 foot of board . Every single flat in the house . In 2 hours sometimes less. To better answer your question tho I imagine I could finish an entire room vs finishing one flat or two by trowel

you guys follow up with a second base coat or just set the paper very low and try to get it perfect get it perfect with the second pass? always done three and have done two on some small jobs from time to time and haven’t noticed tracks or anything. cheers

The coat in the video is a 10" box with sheetrock total lite and the next day we run a 12". So our process is we tape/bed it with base 90 and then run the 10inch the same day unless it's a big job. Then the following day we run a 12"

Box always leaves to ridges on the edges. You can either wipe down or sand after but I try to do minimal sanding

Don't have any scraping or sanding before next coat. That guy sets up the plank and ladder for the stairwell areas just so everything is seamless. He also touches up any bad parts of the joints by hand. Also alot of people box the joints twice if they don't wipe behind so this way is easier for the box runner as he's doing half the work and also easier on the boxes they aren't getting worn down as quickly. If you work alone it would make sense not to wipe behind.

Yes in Aus. Outlets are flush with the timber frame not the board so the boarders just knock out small holes for the electricians to cut out after we're done That's why it's hard to see where they are
