I bought the 6100 knowing somebody out there would eventually make this little radio amazing with 3rd party mods. FINALLY IT HAS BEGUN!!!

My biggest wish for any ham radio app is Android Auto / Apple Carplay support. I do need to look at apps because my backup phones both have integrated physical keyboards. To echo others, you really do a great job of selling this radio, covering the pros, cons, and potential. Really fighting the urge to get one now.

What firmware is this? Looks like factory firmware, but the latest I find is last year. Is this an old video that was just uploaded?

Do you have a linky for this? The one at Radioddity was available back in November and has the same part number as the one released days before, just a different date. Radio Diary had a link to a Chinese site that had it. The Bluetooth worked then, and so did the IC705 apps, (sort of). Let me know if there is something newer. Thanks! (Confused as usual)

I tried PocketTxRx - It "bricked" my X6100. It would boot but then the screen would go blank after showing the waterfall for about .25s. Had to revert to April FW to overwrite the config and then back to the Nov.

@@temporarilyoffline Yea, I know. It *shouldn't* have changed anything. As soon as I did the BT connect the screen went off. No problem, glitch. Let's reboot. Nope. :( I've used it with my FT818 for a long time with no issues. My guess is that something anomalous happened during the BT connection to the SPP virtual port that the OS saw as strange and it did something to the config. Not directly the apps fault.

@@temporarilyoffline As long as the FCC doesn't find anyone with an imagination enough to find new ways to make us pay for all this fun and experimentation, I cool with it. Wireless antenna hook ups would be lighter too. Think of the advantage on a SOTA and POTA rig.

Not certainly in that way. The possibilities are limited by the strange architecture of this transceiver. Not everything that is planned can be done.
