On this channel, I go deeper than any other ham radio channel exploring the tech, building kits, opening up radios, hacking, hacking, hacking! Its all about the adventure... and sometimes I get a few scrapes and bruises along the way. Join me as I try my best to stay on the air while tearing things apart! #1196649
If you can do without an internal battery in an 817, an Elecraft T1 auto ATU (without case) will fit into the battery compartment, permanently wired into the rear ant connector.
Excellent video. Thanks for posting. I was a little surprised by low Q of that 20m dipole that you measured on the NanoVNA. My dipole mount for a couple ham sticks will be here next week. I hope I can get it to work that well. 73.
Terminal mode is great if anyone would explain how to actually "talk" to other hams via the terminal mode. I have watched many videos explaining how to terminal mode my IC-9700. OK, I did it, it connected to a server....NOW WHAT? Do I yell at the radio? What's the next step to actually "talk" to someone on Dstar?
That case/kit is for the raspberry pi zero 2w. I didn't know if a case for a pi 4 hotspot, and for $20 (zero2w), it's better to put the $50 pi 4 to better use.
I grew up in Reisterstown. Although I'm in north Texas now, I still keep a can of Old Bay in the cupboard. It's great on potato soup! (and most everything else)
going to be some great projects coming up. some did not make it due to storm in Texas . flight delays and cancelled. storm made national news . lots of damage to power grid. we just got down poor rain in NY for a hour or 2 then just rain and nice day after. today 5/22/24 we had heavy storms move threw. some storm damage but normal spring weather for us. lost internet in AM for a short time. weather ? the outher day had slow internet ,drop calls on cell . was solar storm related. what a mess on the ham and SW bands. girlfriend had to work so did not make Dayton . I make the ones close to home. 73's
It's nice that it does all of theis "stuff", but i am 75, and I just want to talk to a friend. This is complicating my life. Learning how to do all of this stuff is not fun. I gave up on ham because of that.
If you're to have any credibility on these reviews then you should at least know what you're doing. Otherwise it's just another opinion among dozens of others.
If you're to have any credibility in comments, you either need to be more specific in a mature manner, or at least understand the message of the video before commenting. Looks like you're having trouble with that.
I'm from Baltimore! Parkville/Towson actually. You have to have Old Bay in the kitchen at all times! I tried Utz's Old Bay potato chips (limited production) some time ago and was unimpressed. How did you like the popcorn?
I haven't tried the popcorn yet, but I'm thinking its going to be really good. Old Bay on popcorn is a staple around here. I'd imagine adding the caramel will be interesting.
Wait, I'm confused, I wanted to buy the WSPRlite classic and never is available and I read they went out of business or closed the project but then gave them for free instead of sell them? I am soooo confused with them...
@@temporarilyoffline It should be stenciled on the side of the connector. He must be out of stock, they don't show up in his store. Found others for $14! You can buy 10 Wagos for that and heat shrink is cheap.
Cool stuff. I would like to see more about the Mesh radio being I don't know much about them and your good at explaining things. Berger cookies look delicious But 38 carbs for me is a meal. lol Stay Awesome and thank for sharing. KO4HPC 73
Nice haul! The FT-90R was my first mobile radio. The remote display was a perfect fit in the ashtray. A word of caution: The FT-90R was marketed as "the world's smallest 50W mobile radio," or something like that. It'll do 50 watts, but it will also overheat. But mine was a great 20-watt (medium power) radio for over 15 years. The separation cable is proprietary and probably NLA, but it's not a factor if you use the radio with its face attached. Take Care!
A running joke among some fellow boaters I know is that by Maryland state law all vessels in Maryland waters must carry Old Bay on board. People who aren't from the Mid-Atlantic can't really understand how prevalent Old Bay is in Maryland. It's even pretty prevalent in south central PA where I'm located.
I got mine yesterday. In the menu, theres an SWR threshold. I think it is set for like 1.7. If you increase it to like 2, then it shouldn't fail when it's under 2.
It was great seeing you in Dayton! My Meshtastic arrives today and can't wait to try it out. Thanks! 73 de WB8AM PS I can't help but think that Old Bay is becoming the next Sriracha PS
The LilyGo TWR+ does not come with a case and so you got the case as well which is nice but the radios are VERY tricky to use. Bill, Ham Radio Techtonics has a good video on it. And I believe that Meshtastic can also send data from LORA sensors also.
I am new to digital Modes and I found when txing and returning to decide mode my 705 would remain in TX while WSJTX. I have a USB cord with no Ferrite ring attached. Could that be my problem? TNKS 72
I watched your video the other day and checked 2 coax cables and found one bad and the other good at 0.22 dB. Today when testing more cables, they looked way off so I tested the one that was great the other day, also tested bad. I must not be following the set up correctly but followed your video. Not sure if it’s when I change the traces. I did recalibrate also. Any thoughts??? I have the Nano H4
Sounds like you're on the right track. Set up the nano precisely and run the tests taking notes and you should get very similar results every time - assuming the test subject hasn't changed.
