Had listened to legendary singers RASOOLAN BAI and SIDDESHWARI DEVI live a few times at Pana during fifties and was in awe as a teenager but when I heard Begum Akhtar live in Kolkata a little later, I was mesmerized. These three named singers shall remain immortal in the annals of light Hindustani classical music. Nostalgia does not leave after I get the opportunity to listen to any of their past recordings.
I've been listening to Begum Akhtar Sahiba since 1975, with so much distractions in life, my heart still goes out and find solace in her voice and poetry as well.
Lucky are those who can feel this immortal voice and poetry... # it's always enchanting😌😌 ... # Sadness is the only best everlasting friend of a person it always stays with you in deepest of your heart.
I wonder who was greater ? the poet, or Begum sahiba ? In this rendition voice and words are interwoven in such a way that the fabric will not be there if one is taken out. I discovered this a few weeks ago & almost every night I have sat it on a loop, and poured a drink and let the thoughts drift. 'I waited for wine, came rain to break my heart'. At my age (crossed 70 some years ago) I can understand what Faqir sahib wrote about the breaking of heart. Listeners, I wish you do not feel like Begum sahiba, Faqir sahib, or like me. Q.
Abdul Qudus Dear Sir Once again I happen to come across your comment that springs out of the deep taste of poetry and music that you nurture. i found you in Sabri Brothers' ghazals and SHATRANJ KI KHILADI... Stay blessed Sir
Why do hearts break in Love ? All the reasons and circumstances are expressed in lyrics, Salutes to lyricist and Great Singer,Great legend, Begum Akhtarji.. An excellent rendition 👍🌹🙏
Brought tears...your words and feelings...I have been commenting this for last hour...yes...lived most tragic life....never ran after publicity... I know once while returning from mehfil she spent all bidagi on poor people sleeping on road..she laid blankets on them
A beautiful piece of writing and of course Beghum put life in it.
What I miss even today .... the warmth she emitted while rendering these songs for hours at Aiwan-e-Ghalib or at Janpath Hotel banquet hall .... she is the finest of the fine artiste to have lived and be such an exponent .... who literally made all her listeners get high with the song and forced a ... Waaah .... very spontaneous yet ... to all the couplets she sang .... the audience had a magnetic pull towards her ... the artiste .... par excellence !
Wah began akhtarj jab tak dunia hai aap zindgi me saath sath zinda amar rahengi sari dunia khatm ho sakti hai par swar air sangit in phizaon mein gunjata rahega
My mother used to relish her songs, tumaris etc so like her I also have the same liking for Begum Akhtar ji. Here is not the difference of old era n now new one, it is the melody inside with passion and above all the junoon without having greed for fame, money, falsehood for recognition. Artist like her kept her momentum for inside singing at the cost of many of her personal sacrifices. You hardly see such talent in present time. Why old is gold. Let the readers find themselves.
Enjoyed it immensely. Makes one go into a trance often times sad. Begum Akhtar's style of singling is so uniquely individual and so full of emotion. I like the ending, particularly pleasing .
Awesome. Kuch Tu Duniya Ki ..... beautifully sung by Begum Akhtar. It is one of the rarest of rear jewel Ghazal collection. Physically Begum Akhtar is not with us, but her melodious voice will ever remain in our mind.
AHH Haa Haa ... Kya baat hai. This recording is from the Prime & peak days of Begum Sahiba. Awaaz ki tes aur harkat ka kya asar hai. Ye begum ki gayaki thi tabhi Bismillah khan aur mere grandfather jaise kalakaar unke qayal the. Purab ANG ki gayaki ka GHAZAL me samavesh aur purabiya sanskriti ki woh DOYEN theen ... What a grace she was! Jaise Sher waise hi raag Bhopali me vicharta dhun. Thanks alot Mirza . Rare piece 🙏
Wah Kiya khob ghazal sunai Mirza saheb. @Abdul Qudus Saheb, dar e del ko mehsoos karnain key liyeh umr e peeri ki zaroorat naheen hoti. Yeh to aik Allah ka tohfa hey jisko dey dey.
Returning on June 30th 2020, the world is lost (U NO the reason), no problem here in the NE corner of the USA, Calais, ME. Listening to my darling Faqir Saheb thru Begum Sahiba, they planted a fruit tree, I am enjoying the fruit decades later. Lost my homelands, that is fine, a Persian proverb is, "Pae Gada Lang Neest, Jae Khuda, Tang Neest", if you do not understand then I am sorry, this was our language +200 years ago. Perhaps I am luckier than Faqir Saheb, had he been alive with me then this poem would not have been written, I would have showered him with Rum, Bourbon, and Gin.
I am 78+ born in Lahore, remember as if it was yesterday EVEN now. Was staying near Nullah between Ram Nagar & Krishan Nagar. I remember the corner Mithai shop, Jalebies, dripping with juice and samoisa/kaachori. I happened to meet w/o Indian Ambassador to Islamabad in a train from Jodhpur to Delhi in Feb 2019. She recorded my reminiscing the memories. I agree that, Jeene Lahore Nahi Dekhya O Jamaya Nahin. I have heard Begum Sahiba many aa times. One recital I remember in early fifities in Sapru House, Delhi. She openend with Aa Aa..took in the audience with her Diamond Nose ring blinding every one in its wake, with "Pehli Taan" and then she let go of elixir of music and her sheer personality. I still get goose bumps thinking about that after noon. On my Honeymoon in Srinagar, I remember even the date, May 10, 1971 at 1030AM, enroute Gulmarg in a shared taxi, I was carrying a spooled taperecorder and ghzal being played was Koyilaya Maat Kar Pukaar.......This is one her finest ghazal, intoxicating in trratment of sheer blissful poetry. She was the only one EVER. Her personal tragic life melted in her rendition
@@VirenderGautamVinu Sir, a lot has happened since yours and my postings; I am acknowledging yours, your words are about our common and shared tragedies. I only wish that we walk away from the shackles of religions and see ourselves as a human being. I will be reponding you soon.
Aisay pur asr singers ab kahan dil se gatay thay dil pe asr hota tha shairy ko aasmano per ponhchanay walay singers mai se hain The Great Begum akhter Sahiba.ye Qudrat ki taraf se anmol heeray aik aadh hi paida kye jaate hain classical singers ko in se seekhna chahiye.
These are breathing voices through which we soothing ourselves in this horrible world devoid of true love and HUMANITY and mankind and at last but not the least thanks to you with utter simplicity and sincerity for preserving such unique gems of vintage or golden era. Thanks again.
XEver heart stealer ,Oh what a Khulna voice she describes her own story through this Gazal ,Wah She my Goddess she is Music Goddess of the World in general
Returning after one year (sand of time is falling and the upper half is almost empty), came to say thank you to all those kind souls who responded to my last posting, those who love the beauty of our language, our poet (Faqir Saheb), and our goddess (Begum Sahiba). We may not be rich from worldly point of view but we do not care, because we are rich in a dimension unknown to the worshippers of green. My glass is full, I wish Faqir Sahib was with me, but then again this Ghazal would not have been penned. Daur ye chalataa rahe rang uchhalataa rahe (Kaifi).
Late Sudarshan Fakir and Late Begum Akhtar were each a remarkable creator and a great performer. Main nay mujrim ko bhi mujrim na kaha dunyaa main Bass yahee jurm kyaa hay koee afsos naheen Abb girain sung kay sheeshoun ki ho baarish Fakir Abb kafan orh leeyaa hay koee afsoos naheen. (Sudarshan Fakir) (1934-2008).

Listening to it for the very first time in my life at the age of 47 in Leicestershire uk 🇬🇧 It’s just a next level, (sad 😢) that our new generation will loose the real diamonds 😢
Even in deep seclusion Avatar Meher Baba succumbed to request and allowed her to visit and sing before Him. This reveals so much about her God given gift. Timeless and transcendent Ki Jai 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❣️
