Everyone in the comment section says Eugene is "too demanding" and I highly disagree. He has to make a popular video with millions of views in just one month with a budget, and that is highly stressful to him. Being demanding is part of his job.
definitely agree with you, and also he is just being professional. I would love to work with him, you learn a lot from this kinds of people, no sugar coating, no bs, just pure professionalism and talent!
Flamie I agree with what your saying completely but what people don't understand is Eugene is a very good friend off set just like with the try guys I think correct me if I'm wrong
Honestly, I would want to work along the man. Being demanding is actually needed a lot since yes, he's going off a budget as well with his work. You definitely need all the info you can get and there must be no sugarcoating. It is stressful. Plus, he can be fairly kind to people as it's been shown in some videos, just not so directly.
Also he's being super respectful and acknowledging that everyone is working hard and doing their best. Like he's being demanding, but he's not being rude or aggressive which says a lot. Eugene is just ambitious and has a big vision, and he needs to be assertive to get it. And at such a competitive company like buzzfeed you can't waste time being overly polite and sweet, you have to be the boss
@@JinxTiger Jasmine still works there and Andrew still works there but he has a bigger role now at buzzfeed and worked longer at buzzfeed than any of these people And it’s funny Safiya left before anyone
Eugene has such high standards but always treats everyone with respect. Yeah he asks an intern to get him a coffee, but then also thanks them for doing it out of the ordinary, and appreciates to work with em. Working with him must be like being taught by an asian karate grandmaster, just with cameras instead.
He thanked her AFTER he told her it was too watery :P I think he did that because he felt bad that he'd asked her to make him coffee, took it from her, and immediately his first reaction was "this isn't good enough". That seems to be a major theme of working with Eugene, haha.
Lmao even if this was Eugene for real, I don't know why everyone is offended by it. He was harsh sure but also professional, a perfectionist, those are good qualities you want someone who works hard on their videos otherwise why would you watch them?
+clubOrange I agree with you about everything you said but the only thing that bothers me about his actions is why he took his dogs to his place of work, he knew he wouldn't have time to take care of them he should have been responsible and leave the dogs at home
Yeah, but he doesn't have to be so bossy. I hate the scene when he first complains about the drink and then says thank you. Being a perfectionist doesn't mean being rude.
+clubOrange it's not the fact that he takes his videos seriously that i have a problem with. it's just the fact that he's complaining that his coffee is too watery, telling his intern to take his own dogs for a walk, not being welcoming to his new intern, and overall not being appreciative. thats my view on this
I would love to work with someone like Eugene because he's demanding and straightforward with what he wants. Guess I'm the only one who actually likes the way Eugene works.
How to make the best video ever 1. Put Eugene and Jens name in the title 2. Put Eugene and Jens face in the thumbnail 3. Congrats you made the most viewed video ever
How to make a viral video:1.Put Eugene's Jen's and Tania's name in the title.2. Put Eugene's Jen's and Tania's face in the thumbnail3.Watch the view count skyrocket.4.Fistpump
He's a capricorn they tend to be serious especially at work and career wise. They are hardworkers and at times overbearing and critical of themselves and others.
damn, i think i'd be stressed out from working with him. and also he made some of my favorite videos that i watched like more than 10 times because they're so elegantly done. Now that i think about it, i'm not surprised that Eugene has done those.
There seems to be a bit of a misconception that content creation for massive company like BuzzFeed is all sunshine and rainbows. You'll find in any results driven company that producers are under a lot of pressure to get it done and done well. On a shoot they have a limited time with the talent, studio and other variables. There's a lot that can go wrong and having to re-shoot is expensive and makes you look bad as a producer. Basic politeness under these circumstances can sometimes take a back seat to the primary focus which is getting it done. Eugene seems to know what he wants and that's great. He's in charge. With so many people involved you need that one person to take responsibility and get everyone else on the same page. Otherwise it becomes a mess. At the end of the day, he's the one has to explain why things worked or did not to the bigger boss.
my thoughts exactly. His strictness and high expectations is very professional also, he does appreciate help and gives gratitude. it's a very helpful and healthy attitude!
It honestly kinda annoyed me that everyone complained about Eugene but they couldn't admit that under his lead they were able to produce very quality videos, and it's a great way to show the interns how it's done. If you have someone whose laid back about things, they wouldn't get much done. Of course this just a RU-vid video but BuzzFeed seems to have very strict deadlines and high expections for their creators. idk.
Me: "Oh new Buzzfeed video" Friend: "Yes! Turn up" Me: *clicks video* Friend: *reads title* "Behind Eugene? I'd rather Eugene be behind me" Me: wHAt tHE f UcK
I have a migraine because I lost my car radio. Yesterday I had a ride on a train to go to court. My boyfriend Josh said he had guns for his hands, and accidentally shot his friend Tyler. The Judge said he was crazy, and Josh was put into a mental hospital. I then went to buy our future son a house of gold then went home. I got really mad today because I had to do my English homework. I had to read a poem called Ode to Sleep and a book called Polarize. Then the kitchen sink decided not to work... I'm just really stressed out!
Before this video I was like "I bet Eugene would an extremely fun guy to work with. He laughs at almost everything like me!" And after this video I'm "oh god absolutely not, pal. He's a perfectionist and I can't even take a DECENT selfie let alone a perfect one. 😂😂
2k16emø I would still love to work there. I make my own short films and they take a month or two...I'd actually like the challenge of a weekly deadline.
I was always like "Jee I wish I could work for buzz feed!" But then I watch this and I'm like "you know what? there's a lot of jobs I'll just think about it more."
+Floriza Jones If you work for people who are proud of what they are doing and wants to make money (If you don't work hard, the company will not have alot of money and without money thay cant pay you for the work you have done) then you will find this everywhere.... sad but true. The walking the dog I can understand, because the dogs need to go for a walk, and if Eugene walks them, he can't work and produce the video... the drink I am sure a part of it was a joke, but an inturn usually get to do the crap work, the somewhat pointless work but that helps a little. In the end he complimented the workers and told them they did great, so it really is how it works in the bussiness world... it is strict, if you do something wrong you will hear about it so you can grow, but a good company can also compliment their workers for something they did good because telling them when they did good also let them grow as people. And the stress happens everywhere too because alot of work (like me being in the construction bussiness) has a timelimit, and you need to finish before the time is up, or the company will lose money.
+Floriza Jones This is the video that has made me want to work at Buzzfeed, I used to kinda want to, now I reeeeally want to. This is the kind of thing I'd love to do so much.
I didn't know that they put so much effort and money to just make a 3 and a half minutes video Now that I know it I actually now appreciate their own efforts to bring entertainment to everyone
I watched the "wedding dresses across asia" and my initial thought: gorgeous. now after watching this, I have more respect for the amount of work everyone put in to make it look so flawless. Eugene may seem demanding to a good amount of viewers, but his end results are just proof that he knows what he is doing. the interns seem like they did well under pressure. I absolutely love his side comments for the models and the walked the runway.
I applaud him for integrating the dresses from Afghanistan because Afghans are so under represented. Our culture really shown through the two dresses they picked. Absolutely beautiful. I'm glad Saf modeled them, she's gorgeous.
ari I know that it's a little late to reply, but I totally agree with you, nowadays the way people see Afghanistan is a country of war and not the beautiful country full of culture and as an Afghan I'm glad more people know about our culture.
ari you know that what you were talong about is actually so popular every where I go I see them you know afghans and Syrians and you know so I don't know what you mean
trudy medina16 Care to try again with that comment, it's incomprehensible in English though it seems to be rude to the OP ari, which is uncalled for here.
okay Eugene may be a very demanding boss/person but can we just appreciate that he took the time to make sure the interns were actually learning everything and doing a good job and were encouraged and he was so proud of it at the end. Given the insane stress he must be under it's a wonder he's not absolutely horrible.
when he said buzzfeed needs him to make viral videos, what if the actual video is not the viral video, but this one is? I mean, it is Eugene. Put him in and the views will go up! 😍😄😂
I use to watch these buzzfeedvideos after they were made and edited before I knew who Eugene was, then I saw the try guys and had NO IDEA Eugene had anything to do with these videos and now Eugene just makes me happy no matter what video I watch
