I feel like the whole "public" charging situation in the US is also a bit tricky. Over here in Germany, we're starting to see more public chargers then Tesla Super Chargers. Every Autobahn Gasstation has at least 2 Fast Chargers and a bunch of trickle chargers. And 90% of the Fast Chargers are on the same netwok or subscription and are usually well maintained. FasdNet and EnBW cover alsmost all of Germany and FasdNet and IONITY cover the rest of Western Europe. I mean, it's probably much easier to maintain the chargers over here cause all of the countries are smaller. My dad drives a Mach E too and never had any issues by going with the built in navigation neither does my mom in her ID.3. Although I wish the Ford would show the charging speeds and operator of the chargers becasue we usually try to aviod IONITY because they're much more expensive then EnBW and FasdNEt.

​@@SebiKoerner I wish I could say the same for the UK. It's far from uncoming to pull up at a Supercharger that has 8 or 12 150kw stalls, then 2 50kw other brand stalls of which one is almost always broken. The single time I've not used the Supercharger network (And I've driven from the north of the UK to the south coast of France) was when I was doing a roadtrip around the north coast of Scotland. The 'ChargePlace Scotland' chargers REALLY sucked. All 50kw, some with broken screen backlights, some with no power at all, others with broken RFID readers or ones that won't authorise because the machine has no internet connection. It was a hot mess. To this date, I've never had a single broken Supercharger. I've seen one or two stalls be out of service and owners in the queue for it letting you know on arrival that they're out of service, but I've never not been able to charge. The Supercharger network is reliable and if you'll arrive with low SoC you know it will work, almost 100% guaranteed. I just wish I could say that for other networks... :) (Here's a screenshot of all the driving I've done! Well charging infrastructure still isnt as good as gas stations so 😞 Tbf, tesla’s is good but still sparse in certain areas (where i live in houston, the closest supercharger is 7 miles away, so 13 minutes of travel just to get a charge, albeit charging at home is a better option than going all the way over there)

@@cupid3890 yeah superchargers are meant for road trips. The closest one to me is like 20 miles away but it’s right off the highway and I can charge at home without issue. Tesla is slower than gas, but I’d take that cuz autopilot is so good.

I guess that’s what more than a hundred years of evolution gives you. Can’t wait to see what EVs will be like in half that amount

Like Marques described, this is so much like the charging on iPhones vs Android phones.

Ford is already eating into the Tesla market share, people are even willing to pay markup for Mach-E. Now that GT is out, the game is getting even more interesting. Ford is still ramping up production, they are making only about 50k cars this year, but they can easily sell 10 times more. And F-150 coming next year, it's a naturally born killer, the demand will be huge. Tesla is so yesterday, unless they up their game they will be a history in a few short years.

You're way too biased towards Ford. -Wait till the Roadster comes out. -Tesla is also still ramping up production, and are aiming to sells millions of cars per year in the next few years, so that point was irrelevant. -Ford F-150 Lightning is awesome in my opinion, but it's not better than the Cybertruck, and by the way, the Cybertruck has a lot more demand, around 1.5 million preorders (most hyped and anticipated EV in history). -Tesla's technology is much much better, and they are pushing innovation (they are the future). Seems like someone didn't actually read the comment they replied to, because the comment you replied to was actually talking about how Ford and other automakers have terrible charging infrastructure, and are not reliable at all so far.

I mean, the same is pretty true for Tesla as well. It gets to the point where it's just not efficient. The curve is different, but Marques never charged past 80% during the trip either.

Mine too.

The problem isn't Ford, it's non standardized charging networks. Every gas pump is the same, every electric charging station should be too. Tesla and Ford are just as much at fault for this shitty network as everyone else.

@@Heyec I think the main difference between Tesla in Ford, at least in this vid, is that Tesla will tell you when a charger is used or out of service. Ford doesn’t seem to have that kind of communication between the charging company and the cars. I agree tho, every charging station should just be that same and they should all work.

Just the fact that the TSLA had 0 charging complaints and the MachE was driving all over CREATION looking for chargers said it all. There needs to be one app that rules all the charging stations, that you can pay from it etc I think traditional car companies need to Get with the program when it comes to their software experience.....it feels like im using a 2008 smart phone in any car rn while a tesla is like using the new iPhone.

We chose the Mach-E because it's been wildly popular amongst EV buyers, and because it has some of the best range in a non-Tesla EV. That being said, we plan on doing this sort of experiment every year or so with different vehicles to see how selection/charging networks change over time!

@@hayatohuseman that's fair! Curious if based off the learnings from this first try if you think the teams would be allowed to pre-plan a little more? Maybe use apps like PlugShare or ABRP to pick chargers that are functional and optimize time at chargers? Or, still mostly use the built-in nav? Though I absolutely do agree with the criticism that these manufacturers need to be pulling in way more info into their systems if they want to compete with Tesla and provide the best experience to their customers.

@@cruiz91 It’s possible, but we wanted to try to replicate the average driver’s experience as much as we could. This meant avoiding using any third-party sites or apps that a lot of people wouldn’t know to use.

@@hayatohuseman makes sense. My only counter there would be I do think a lot of average people use Apple CarPlay / Android Auto rather than the built-in systems. They'd use Google Maps to nav to chargers, or potentially the ChargePoint / EA / ABRP apps that are supported in CarPlay and AA. Just food for thought! Regardless, love this kind of content and can't wait to see more.
