Definitely one of the best......people don.t even know he did shit for Faith Evans and other big names. His shit is all made organically. He does not just Loop some simple shit. I had the pleasure of meeting cat at the guitar center. He was solo no security or any of that shit. He literally stood there and talked to me like we knew each other. We just talked about beats. I was surprised this big time producer didn't act big headed. He even gave me free tips. I will never forget how humble this man is. I meet other big names and let's just say they feel superior. Cat got that funk doe. One of the best beats he made is time goes on with Kokane and snoop. You talk about funk shit the way Kokane fit that battle cat beat is hard! Trust me it is a real banger. Cat is underrated.....cat, Bosko, ea ski, ant banks, warren g and dj pooh got that funk heat.....I love DRE and quik but all the producers I named kept the funk going for the west!
@@KE-jb4mh No but as far as producers I have also met Joe Cooley, Crazy Tunes Warren G. I met alot of rappers. Dub C, Cube, Snoop, Sugafree, Mc Eiht, Second 2 none, the Lady of Rage, The liks.
Every now & then I come back to this video to see how battlecat created such a classic beat, piece by piece. It's almost like a magician showing you his tricks with no bullshit illusion. Best believe I'll be back sometime in 2020 to relive this.
Met BC back in 2002-2003. I was at guitar center messing with the the new motif (even though we had one I was buying something) and he liked what I was doing. He gave me his number and we talked a few times. I was locked into another label that ended up falling. He told me he wanted to do more--and could do more than what he is known for. I believe it.
From the Minimoog, that custom MPC3000, Korg MS2000 and all those sound modules to the picture of Marvin Gaye in the background you know the energy must be crazy, some real powerful shit!
Royal clash Radioactivity is the inspiration for this track. With his added touches. But the main groove is radioactivity as well as the hook of the song
This is one of the craziest beats of all time I’ve been watching this video over and over since they first posted this. There is so much space between the instruments and the drums are so simple but they melt together so perfectly
Always The Top Dawg Him and DJ Quick Why y’all think DRE don’t make no Videos like this 🤔Cause he ain’t Actually doing all that Music himself he Samples a lot and has others playing his shit Cat and Quick DO THIS!!!!!!!
@knansd True, Dre has a polishes sound, but he is not a producer, he is a composer lol. Sad, but true. i know one of his session bassist, and all Dre does is craft a loop, a couple of breaks, and the rest is left up th the musicians. now don't get me wrong, its still genius, but he cant do what Battlecat is doing, which is start to finish production. Do I respect Dre? Hell yes.
@knansd Dre is a composer. He might do some drums on the MPC. But he's a conductor and a composer. Not a producer. He uses producers like Storch, Mel-Man, Yella or whoever his apprentice/partner is at the time to do keys and shit. Most of the beats he's credited for he didn't do. Remember Ain't No Fun from Doggystyle? Warren G and Daz did that beat. Dre just tells people what to do.
Those 7 Dislikes are: Timbaland, Swiss Beats, Diddy, Darkchild, Jermaine Dupri, Cool & Dre and Kanye West. A Part of them has admited that they are nothing to Battlecat but can't live with that. And the others like J.R Rotem etc. just don't saw that video and acting like there is no battlecat. AND battlecat, dr.dre, and dj quik have decided that they will never make a beat together, because the world-beat-trade would go down and the world would explode.
Not true. Just like every genre of music, there are those with true musicianship (like Battlecat or Marty Friedman if you will) and a genuine feel for his/her respective genre. Battlecat incorporates some pretty interesting and not so easy to recognize gospel/funk chords and music theory. Just like making metal, funk, pop, hiphop or any other genre of music, EVERYBODY CAN DO IT (i.e. Jonas Brothers or T-Pain and the rest of the autotune brigade), but not everyone can do it WELL.
