Behind the Creation of PLUTO | MAKINGFLIX | Netflix Anime 

I agree! I absolutely loved Pluto! I'd argue that this series is a must watch and is very relevant to what's happening in the world now in 2023, including the current wars in other countries. I feel this Anime makes you think and gets us, the viewers, to question our own morality and bring that very discussion into the real world, because of how real the themes and messages are within Pluto. Which ring true to our own reality .

This has been a great season for animation all 3 of varying styles and genre are so unique in their own ways. I hope we can get more adult animation in the future

What scenes were excessive?

I thought the CGI was very subtle . Most of it was 2d animation. And to be fair, it's hard to animate let's say a hand into a mechanical one. The transformation of it is rather difficult. So while CGI isn't ideal , I understand why it was used . The rest of the Anime looks stunning and beautiful. They really captured the style of Urasawa with their own flare . The expressions are very vivid and detailed too . I was very happy with this Anime adaptation, so much so I gave it a 9/10. Not only that but the story and characters are all so incredibly written. Most of all the deep and thought provoking questions and themes in this Anime is why I love Anime and Manga as a whole. To tell a powerful story , that leaves such a huge impact on it's viewers . Truly inspiring. I wish I could tell the team behind this Anime adaptation how grateful and happy I am that they created this adaptation.

@brotheranimations1848 I mean that's fair , Beserk is even more complex style wise. However the scenes of Pluto in tornado form is very hard to do in 2D . Which is why I understand why it was done in CGI. That's all my saying . There wasn't much CGI used in the Anime of Pluto. Only a little bit of CGI was used. The rest was in 2D animation, including the characters which were animated in 2D.

@brotheranimations1848 Unfortunately that is the case for most Seinin series. Alot of Seinin series have more unique visuals and are very complex artstyle wise. From what I've read of Seinin Manga so far, that seems to be true. However, we did get lucky with Vinland Saga and Vinland Saga season 2 which is a Seinin series. Most of it , was animated in 2D. The CGI was used very sparingly and thankfully wasn't used as often . It was very settle as well. There's alot of pressure to animating , especially now. And quite frankly to draw every frame in 2D is very difficult. Unfortunately there isn't much opportunity to fully do that. In the 70's- 80's-90's and even some 2000's Anime , that Era of Anime, there was more room to do every scene in alot of detail with alot of experimentation. Anime isn't done that way anymore because it is very difficult to do and is costly. Even though cell animation is very beautiful and detailed in Anime . I do miss that Era of Anime quite a bit. However, I'm aware that it is very difficult to sustain. The animators in each studio are under alot of pressure and don't have the greatest working conditions. Hell they aren't even paided enough for all the hard work they do. Sorry for the rambling. Hopefully what I said made some sense.

@brotheranimations1848 Also Shonen series can be deep sometimes as well as have introspective moments but it is made to be more accessible to viewers with positive reinforcement . I think that's why Shonen series get animated more than Seinin series. Seinin series aren't as clear cut as Shonen and are usually more complex in story and themes . Not every Seinin is super heavy like this, but alot of the Seinin Manga series I've read seem to be this way. So while it's unfortunate that Seinin series don't get animated as much , I kinda of understand why. Hopefully we get more good Seinin adaptations in Anime like Vinland Saga in the future . I also hope that the Anime Industry becomes more willing to take creative risks and make Anime that are outside of the box and are more experimental. I feel they are too afraid that the audience won't understand or won't appreciate more complex stories or unique styles (etc). But there are people who do appreciate it. I'm one of them. Regardless of how niche certain Manga/ Anime generas may seem, Anime and Manga that tested the waters gave us the classics we know today.

@@Twoseconds001 I’ve watched and read the series, various interviews, this behind the scenes video, and tweets from staff members. I’m more than allowed to form an opinion based on that information. One of the animators who worked on the series, Hirofumi Masuda, complained that he worked on the series for two whole years of his career only to find that most of his work got replaced in the final product. What do YOU know about the effort that went into the series? I’m glad you enjoy the show, but that doesn’t make you an authority on the matter.

11:51 as u can see they already had well animated 2d sequences from talented animators but they covered it all with digital effects simply because they thought it was "interesting"

It’s also Interesting that people don’t take as much issue with Spiderverse’s and Arcana’s usage of CGI. The criticisms seem selective.

Because for those it actually looked good. And there also weren't perfectly good 2d effects already animated and ready to use, before being covered up by bizarre hyperrealistic smoke and explosions

@@bonkgiartist Arcane and Spiderverse use 3D animation with 2D shaders and elements to enhance the animation. In this case CG effects are added to obscure perfectly good 2D animation. Would be similar if the added 3D explosions over all the beautiful 2D explosions in Akira.
