I am going to start learning flash photography. I want a not too heavily priced, lightweight, portable setup that I can take with me wherever I go to cultivate and continue this new hobby of mine. What do you suggest?

@@photographer8486 I started with Paul C buffs, but now tech has advanced and I believe GodoxPhoto would be your go to for a startup. The AD200 Pros are great, they would run about 299. Great for if you’re shooting at golden hour times, but if you need more power, when the sun is out, it’ll be more, around 499, for the AD300 pro. Plus you’ll probably need a trigger by GodoxPhoto and a soft box with a Bowen’s mount

@@WillMydell i have a Sony S2 camera (for now) if that would change your suggestion. And I want to take it with me when I travel. I am learning and this would be my first flash. and I am not disciplined so the motivation and desire to learn keeps coming and going. So I should be able to use it quite easily when I take it with me outdoors. I will have to keep trying different things and keep my best to stick to it. So keeping all these things in mind, should I go for this AD200 or AD100 pro or V1?

@@photographer8486 either would be good honestly. I've just learned over the years that if I can't get the best, get what's on the middle of you can, but never cheat yourself. So if I didn't have the money for the AD400 which is what I really wanted for around $569, I would get the step down, which would be the AD200. I always had a plan to use what I purchased to make my money back through bookings so I could build my inventory and make my portfolio bigger. But if you're just shooting as a hobbyist I would suggest anywhere from AD200 pro and lower.

I’m exploring upgrading my speedlites to affordable strobes with the modeling lamp (which would help me tremendously with previewing my portraits and photographing in the go). Great shots. Love the AD200. Additional tip - the sand bag should always go on the longest, front leg and the sand bag should not touch the floor. :)

I really like the standing ones! It’s challenging enough to come up with lots of poses shooting someone else. It’s a whole nother level shooting yourself. My only critique is 1:02 and 1:42 Always put the sandbag on the tallest leg and make sure it doesn’t touch the ground. This video just goes to show you do not need L grade glass, or high mega pixel camera to get great images to sell !

Thanks. I remember when I was shooting with a Canon T2i for years but because I had food lighting and retouching people thought I was shooting with a 5D MkIII or MK III, it's really on the creative. If anything, I would support the creative to have good lighting and a decent lens. But great comments thanks for sharing.
