great video! only the comment on the bare bulb is a little brief - if you use it backfiring at a white umbrella outside during daytime maybe you don't see too much of a difference to the fresnell head. but when using with a proper softbox that lights from behind through two diffusors there is a big difference to the fresnell head, because the open bulb correctly fills all the softbox. of course, if you never use it that way that might not mean much, but if someone does then the open bulb option is an absolute game changer!
Great test and appropriate sample results to clearly show the performance of each light... Thank You... also your caution that neither light can arrest direct sunlight...
Nice thanks. You should have talked more about this tint issue, because it is a real problem if you work with several flashes; if it can be fixed with a filter, you reduce the power of the flash as much. The AD100 is not as qualitative and versatile as the AD200 which also allows you to work with a bulb, so much better for homogeneity. AD100 vs AD200 ? AD200 rules by far.
Very nice job overall, and for the review and for your food photos! I think in close to average distances 100pro is totally fine/great, but the main point of buying 200pro vs 100pro is when you want to light lets say a big place from way behind like a venue/children theater and you will have to use 100pro at 1/2 and full power all the time. You can easily need 2 or 3 batteries for 100pro and also come across overheating issues (lets also not forget that batteries life decline as you use them and the full power shots wont be 360 for ever). With 200pro you will have to worry much much less about these things.
I use V1 but it I should add another light, I guess I would go it for another AD600 because I live in a windy city and most of my shoots are outdoor. Thank you for this beautiful comparison.
I am going to start learning flash photography. I want a not too heavily priced, lightweight, portable setup that I can take with me wherever I go to cultivate and continue this new hobby of mine. What do you suggest? @@JustDavidMinistries
Great video. Can you help me decide what light to buy next for my kit? I own 2 v860ii s, and just ordered a V1 with the AK modifier kit on sale from B&H. I mainly ordered this because it has faster recycle times than the 860ii's, and I wanted to give the modifiers a try, as well as a metal hot shoe base. I want something a bit more powerful and versatile for portraits. I do not have a studio - so, it would be on-location / traveling. so ease of use and portability matters. I'm leaning toward the ad300pro. But it's hard to ignore the versatility of the ad200pro. 300 has better recycle times, a little more power (but hardly, real world), and the godox mount, which I think would be useful, as I have 2 Glow Parasnap 36 and 44in modifiers that can take that mount. But... the 200.... people just love it. What do you think?
I had the AD200 and pretty much ended up hating it. The ergonomics, shape and especially the weight were all, for me, awkward and tiresome. Managed to sell and got the 100 which is not perfect- nothing is- but MUCH more enjoyable and practical to use.
Hi, Russel! Tell me, please, what were the most obvious differences when using the AD100 after the AD200 in terms of light quality and user experience? Does it spread enough compared to a bare bulb? I’m looking forward to shave off a few kilograms off my lighting kit. 🥲
@@AntonLitvin87 Hi Anton, down on power obviously but much lighter in weight and easier to pack into bags. It does have a very slight green shift which needs about +3 magenta filter if critical matching is required. Bare bulb wise there is a little filter kit AK-R1 which includes a small dome which works ok. There is a bigger AK-R22 diffuser dome which has adapters to fit with a similar spread to the bare bulb but without quite the same contrast as the bare bulb.
Thanx for quick response! 🍬And yep, I should have guessed the using of domes as we do with speedlights. Nice idea and I believe this works in most cases. @@russellbaston974

Well ad200 is more versatile and works better with modifiers bare bulb, plus you can connect 2 together with b2 bracket for more power. Ad100 is super portable though but not more than a regular speedlight
eh you serious? I have the AD300 and V860II and when using on a studio shoot or car event, the 'recycle' time matters a lot. Difference was night and day esp on HSS when the speedlight recycle slows down considerably compared to the AD300. World of diff.

@@baddoggi4238 I have the v680ii s and just ordered the V1 with the modifier attachment kit. I want to order something more powerful. I'm torn between the modularity, versatility, price, and solid reputation of the ad200pro, and the 300pro. Which would you recommend? and I've heard the colors can vary between these models.. have you found that your 860ii matches with the ad300, while using them together?
if you want to compare number of shots and recycle time than you should measure them both at 100 wps. also the ad100 is more in the range of the v1 or v860II.

Thanks for such an useful comparison! The difference in Kelvins is something I see for the first time after tonns of videos about compact Godox / Flashpoint heads. Also I’m glad you did a real-world job where we use 1/2 and 1/4 to 1/8 to save the lamp and the battery health. Hope someday everyone will understand there is no pleasure to blow up your unit by blasting at full power just because it increases the photons per dollar ratio. 😅 For 1,5 years I’ve been using two opposites: either 3 to 5 off-camera flashes or the AD600 + AD1200 combo, but now in search of something in between like 100 to 400 W/s units as an all-rounder kit. What is still sad is that we still have to use really tall (and heavy) light stands or an assistant to rise the light high enough for portraiture. 🥲 Thank you again! Peace. 👍

My personal choice is what I suggest. The basic model AD600BM (not M and not a Pro!) in it's special slim-fit shoulder bag + H600B extension head. That gives you Bowens mount high above the groung while still resting all the heavy & expensive stuff at the very bottom. Love this set 100%! The AD600BM's cost is around the AD300 Pro range, and then add about 25% for lowering the mass with the H600B. Just notice it reduces the power output from 600 to ~530, but worth it. @@photographer8486
@@AntonLitvin87 i have a Sony S2 camera (for now) if that would change your suggestion. And I want to take it with me when I travel. I am learning and this would be my first flash. and I am not disciplined so the motivation and desire to learn keeps coming and going. So I should be able to use it quite easily when I take it with me outdoors. I will have to keep trying different things and keep my best to stick to it. So keeping all these things in mind, should I go for this TT600 or AD200 or AD100 pro or V1?
@@photographer8486 Honestly, in case of travel I would only take my tiny V350 and a trigger to save weight. No even TT600’s needed. Maybe TT350 would be even better for half the price of V350. If weight is not an issue then you’ll be happy with V1. 🫶 Not only as a strobe.
VERY GOOD VIDEO ..ACTUALLY I SAW AD100 FIRST TIME..[I am little far from photography and working another field ] its compact and powerful thank you 👍 jazaakkumullah khair..
Solo un par de cosas...se puede montar una cabeza rendonda en el a200...2. Se puede unir 2 ad200 para buscar una potencia similar al ad400, y un detalle mínimo pero el ad200 pro luce mejor construido y mas fuerte que el ad100
You still need a ad600 to over power the sun using modifiers. The ad100 and ad200 along speedlights fill the niche of fill light at indoor venues or in the shade. It does work its purpose. The real like for me is the ad100 built in fan which the ad200 doesn’t have. No problem with overheating issues.
Thank you, but I didn't see a lot of difference in usage between the two ? Abd the light quality between the two lenses ? I would think that with a bigger softbox the most powerful ad200 would be good ?
Hi Oma Ghomrawi congrats for your channel and good videos. Is it just me or I think there is a green cast issue on the Ad100 Pro? I think I see it on every picture you have take on this video the Ad100 seems to suffer from CRI Issu on this case a green cast issue? Do you agree ? I love Godox gear and I owns some myself and wants to buy or the Ad200pro or the ad100pro and now I am a little confuse I love the portability of the Ad100 but does it have this green Issue?
Thanks - what model of umbrella are using for the food photography - ive looked it seems a godox but I can't find the model with diffusion at the front
@@OmaGhomrawi The local godox service centre people are helpful. They are fixing it. I will pick it up tomorrow. I will share my feedback post repairs.
@@alonsogarrote8898 They fixed it and gave me additional two year warranty. I am using it till date with no issues. I had to pay for the repairs , because they found some physical damage. It was due to an accidental drop during an outdoor shoot of mine. Although it worked fine for about 6 months after the drop before it conked. They said the two incidents could be related and the repairs cost will not be covered under warranty. Fair enough. It doesn't matter I am happy now. I got it repaired at less than 1/4 th of the price of a new one. I got almost everything changed all important parts and got additional 2 years warranty. It still works as good as new.
Very nice video packed with infos and real tests! I was wondering if I get continuous light or flash (AD200 100) or both and your food examples are welcome. Thanks a lot. Subbed.
I am more confused than I was before watching your review.:))))).. I already have a Godox AD100Pro and I would like to buy another flash and I was thinking of getting another ad 100 or ad 200 Pro... for portraits indoor&outdoor...
new subscriber from sharjah. thanks for the tips. that helped a lot. . . if you don't mind, may i know where is that place at 6:41? :) it looks very quiet :) . .
Hh I bought it for about $15 in a local store in Dubai. And never seen it in stock again. Now I found it on amazon.ae for very expensive price, check it as reference amzn.to/3eNmUI8
May I advise you to go and check AD200 pro recycle time again? The time you gave us is not correct. ADD 200 pro don't have the same recycle time as ad200. They are different units.
In this video, I never mentioned the original AD200. Anyway the recycle time info is from the original resources. They might be wrong, or your unit is broken.
I used to use triopo 90cm octa softbox But recently I switched to the umbrella softbox from godox. I like how small it is. I sometimes switch back to the softbox because of the grid. Please find the links in the description
I’m thinking about the AD100 but honestly, I’m worried with some videos mentioning a sort of green cast as result of this unit usage. Have you felt that?
@@OmaGhomrawi that you made very clear, thats why I said it was a good video but what I meant to say is that there isn't much difference between the two in terms of the results you get other than one ad200 is a bit brighter and cooler
@@llREADYll Do you value lightweight or higher power? There are tradeoffs in every purchase, that's why Mercedes offers more than one model. If you are just starting out just pick one and use the heck out of it so that you can understand how it works, and what you like and don't like about it, then after you have mastered it buy a different model that way you have something to compare to and can form your own opinion. Tiger Woods didn't start out with the perfect set of golf clubs but he didn't let that stop him from starting. With that said I would start out with the ad200 and go from there.
can you mix AD200 with MS300? I did this in my studio and it produces a green tint when used both together. If used independently, they are fine. Any ideas?
You have a point, however it is half the size and weight of the 200pro I suppose we’re paying for the technology that make us able to get a small powerful portable flash unit
I prefer using ND Filters when possible instead of using HSS High speed sync. Personally I don't prefer HSS because it does not deliver the same amount of power compared to without HSS. So here in this video I wanted to compare both systems fairly.
