Wish I had the luxury of a "set". Here in Saigon, shooting at home is nearly impossible because of the noise. I try to plan my shooting, but have to wing it most of the time. You guys have a great setup there. Cheers.
Yes her house is a super convenient place to film! We do have to be strategic around naptimes and lunch for her kids but we're able to make it work! Got have to do what you have to do!
In KJ's video she mentioned the camera automatically switched from Raw to small raw when her card was almost full. Did you personally find the option to turn that off? I've been digging through the menus but I can't find anything on it.
I've been shooting Wide DR for so long that I can kind of just eyeball it. I try to get the majority of my WFM to fall around 50/60 and skin tones around 60/70. I don't adjust anything in camera regarding color matrix/blacks etc!
Interested In the business of this. This is a full-day, all things considered. + all the direction you’re providing. How can your client afford (what I hope is) a proper day rate? At your level, I’m sure that’s around $1000. If it’s less, how can you afford to spend your time this way? If it is a good rate, how can your client justify it? Thanks! Best wishes.
Great question! I should definitely do a full video about how I've structured my monthly retainer clients. The short version is that to keep things simple I charge an flat hourly rate for all retainer clients. This rate covers shooting, planning, editing, etc all the same. And then each client gets a set number of hours per week/month that we allocate based on their specific needs. It works well for me because I get a great stream of consistent monthly income and I've left buffer room in my week that allows me to take on additional one off projects & weddings that pay a higher rate. So essentially we can live off retainer work alone and then any other project I book goes towards savings & growth. That reason alone is why I can justify a slightly lower hourly rate for retainer clients because I get the peace of mind of a long term relationship and consistent income. I can get more into the details of how I figured out the rates and the process of setting expectations, etc in a video in the future!
