Originally filmed for my fantastic Patreon community in January 2024. This was a routine trip to the vet for Olive Python (Liasis olivaceous) Tendy. This was her first time at the vet for a wellness exam, Serpentovirus testing, and microchip implant.

Soo sweet, lovely animal. Interesting to learn about the moistened contact point aiding listening. And no movement, flinching whilst being punctured with the needle.

She was so good, and is such a beautiful girl. It's so interesting to me that they hold still when their heart's being listened to. I also agree that it was very cool to hear the conversations.

She was so calm and especially for being in blue! I was surprised she was only 1.9 kilos, seems light for a 10 year old Olive but she looks very healthy :)

I have an unrelated question, what’s your view on making a snake jungle gym? Something for outside the enclosure for enrichment. I’m sure a video you can could make on it would do well. I’d appreciate your input thank you

I have two playlists of snake enrichment content, have published articles about it and teach a snake enrichment webinar for the IAABC. May I ask what's the purpose of chipping a snake? I usually see this done by wild reptiles researchers to identify individuals. I didn't know it's also useful in pet snakes.

We microchip all of our animals (dogs, horses, cats, reptiles) for identification purposes and theft deterrence. Microchipping is a safe way to provide permanent ID for an animal to prove it is yours should you become separated during a disaster or should it become lost or stolen. Many animals are successfully reunited with owners because they were microchipped.
