This trilogy was amazing. They truly told a story about Lara's development. The actor who portraits Jonah being the same height as Camilla... that is a plot twist lol
Really spectacular performance out of Lara in Shadow for me. Made me care about the character more than I ever had before. I also liked everything else about the game lol
It was opposite for me. In Shadow she is so unsettled and antsy all the time more so than the previous two games. I honestly found her very irritating.
@@Absolynth I enjoyed the games for the most part. The gameplay is fun and they look amazing. I just don't like Lara as a character, especially compared to the older versions. She looks great but i find her so irritating! Her reaction to everything is so over dramatic. She just doesn't seem like Lara Croft to me.
@@Dogs.Are.Better.Than.People The crying/complaining aspect of her character is definitely something ive seen brought up and also agree with especially in 2013 and rise, but in Shadow I really do feel like they made an effort to make her laugh and smile more. She was more angry, upset and complaicant, but I feel they also increased her moments of joy and wonderment and all that to juxtupose the other stuff. In my opinion. It almost felt like George Lucas had stepped in to say "faster, more energy" lol Hopefully in the future though they really begin to inject that extra amount of levity and fun back into her character, while remaining grounded and modern to SOME degree of course.
@@Absolynth I feel like laying out all her self doubt and flaws makes for a much less intriguing character. It becomes tiring after awhile having to play as a character with such emotional turmoil. I feel like her uncool, awkward vibe is very intentional and that is totally opposite to who Lara is. I've come to resent it and miss the old Lara more and more. I hope they put some thought into Lara as a character and what she stands for in the gaming community since she became so iconic for a reason. They need to be reminded of what character they have in their hands.
I've never played a Tomb Rider game in my life (start to finish) then I bought this three games on a steam sale and I'm in love. Obsesed with how good and engaging the game is. The graphics are just Top Notch.
Same, I've only played this game recently. Ever since i've watch it on yt. I had enough and want to play it. It was very gritty and thrilling. But yet fun.
I never was a Tomb Raider fan. But back in 2014, I was watching videos on RU-vid and accidentally stumbled upon the trailer of Tomb Raider 2013. I was captivated by that 3 minutes. Though I was still skeptic. So I started watching a playthrough. After the first 10 minutes, I knew: I need to play this game! I still don't consider myself a Tomb Raider fan. But I love this trilogy. I never understood the fans of Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft, but Camilla Luddington made me fall in love with her portrayal of the character.
@Parvonik Looking back to my comment, I realise it was a bit poorly worded. What I meant is that I saw the Angelina Jolie movies, but for me she wasn't really likeable as a character. Also, I haven't watched the reboot movie with Alicia Vikander, so I can't say anything about her portrayal. I haven't played the older games, either, though I saw clips of them on RU-vid. I'd say Camilla Luddington in the new games is simply my ultimate favourite. But saying that I never understood the Angelina Jolie fans seems a bit rude, so I'm taking that part back.
Tomb Raider will always be my most favourite game franchise ever! I've had so many memories with a few of the older games, and now, in a few years time when we look back, the newer games will then be nostalgic. What an absolutely amazing feeling.
Game dev here. It depends on the game. Motion capture is pretty expensive so most games made by small studio are made by hand and the actors only do the voices
I played Tomb Raider when it first released for the Sega Saturn back in the day. I've seen the rise and fall of the franchise. I played this one thinking I would probably be disappointed. This game blew me away. They did an amazing job bringing Lara back to life with this trilogy. I'm eager to see what the future holds for us Tomb Raider fans.
Technology is amazing. When playing games I've never really thought about the time and effort that goes in to making them with the actors and the game makers team. Truly amazing to watch...I was born in 1980 and my first console when I was young was an Atari 2600 which was amazing at the time then upgraded to a nes lol. Games have came a long long way.x
They will but not in the near future.. the developers are focusing on the avengers game, which is supposed to be a "live service game".. even the deus ex franchise is on hiatus
@@asthagupta3813 I don't think so.. It is a very popular IP but they have an avengers game currently in development and since Shadow of the Tomb Raider under performed, so it might be a while before they make another tomb raider or even deus ex game.. Also, square enix values their Japanese franchises much more than the western ones so we have to adjust our expectations accordingly
I never watched Grey's Anatomy but Camilla acting is so freaking amazing in Tomb Raider games she is easily in my top3 best performances. In Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider devs actually based Lara's face on Camilla's because they started using micro dot facial motion capture and my girlfriend watching Grey's and when i was played SOTTR she saw Lara and "Hey she looks like Jo Wilson" "Really? What is her actress name?" "Camilla Luddington" "Oh thats because she is Lara" "Oh thats awesome"
I've been playing SOTTR lately and i just love Camilla's performance. Ever since the reboot she has performed so well. I just can't wait to finish the trilogy. What an absolute joy to listen to her and play as Lara.
It's still look like it capturing less than ,what actors actually act/ feels! Heads up for those actor who gave extraordinary acts in motion capture suit!
I LOVE the original series of games, my favorite being Underworld, but the Tomb Raider reboot was so amazingly done. It’s my favorite trilogy for sure. The creators could’ve just remastered the older versions of the games or made them similar, but instead they were completely original and so creative. Beautiful graphics, an amazing story, unique gameplay, the acting was incredible and convincing. They at least got my money.
Rise is a classic - literally the best game ever devised. At the last count, I've played it for 1,700 hours. _Shadow,_ sadly, challenge tombs included, isn't a patch on it. 92 hours so far, and I'm bored with it. Lacking anything new and exciting. Big environments are all very well as you can keep people immersed in that environment. The huge Paititi level was a good idea, but lacked additional creativity and thought, resulting in a 'lets just increase the number of documents, secrets and base camps' strategy which falls way short. Big mistakes in Shadow - *_Do not repeat them!!!_*
oh god 😭 she’s so pretty and amazing , the way she talk and act / this character has been my idole form long time / thank you Camilla for being part of it
Camilla Ludington that was amazing voice of Lara croft it looks incredible and awesome tomb raider game is so fantastic graphics and best voice actor ever
Absolutely loved this trilogy. After playing both this and uncharted ive gotta say i love the gameplay of tomb raider more.... WAY more optional side quests and tombs, way more collectibles... You can fully explore the map as free roam with fast travel in every game unlike uncharted and these games have each different skill tree and weapon progressions!! Absolutely awesome ❤
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you for everything related to the Tomb raider trilogy...it's very special to me.
Lara's character in the 2013 is very emotional and panic-y in comparison to her in TR1, 2 and 3 where she seemed more emotionally calm and cold and badass. She doesnt seem to have the same character in all the games. idk. But good job, very clear this took A LOT of effort, well done!
what I would love to know is did a stunt double do the hard acro-bat like stunts (falling/climbing/jumping ect) or was it digital animations...or was Camilla daring enough to do all that while on the stunt cable?? 🤔
They talk about adding details in Rottr but Lara’s necklace does not leave her neck. I’m sorry, but if you’re going to amp up the animation, it would be nice to include details like the necklace not being glued to her chest.
I don't get why people hate on this game series. Yes its not like the originals but i personally like that we get a more human hero who has weaknesses. I grew up with the originals and i love the new generation lara croft. She's someone i can relate to.
I loved this game and i din't know that Camilla Luddington played Lara and that she is British i like her in Greys Anatomy a lot. Waiting for a new game, i hope they will make a new Lara Croft game soon.
Apparently, there are more files for her face textures in Rise than Shadow, and I wish they hadn't done that. The environments in Shadow look great, but that just means the game has a 1000 loading screens. :(
I get that these new Tomb Raider games are good and very well made, but I just hate that they took the franchise in a direction that blatantly copies many of the things that are unique to Uncharted and left behind many of the things that made the original Tomb Raider games unique... These new Tomb Raider games have little to nothing in common with the original games, not the campiness, not the grand soundtrack, not the exotic scenery or thematics... they're almost a MORE grounded in reality "Uncharted Copy" than the Uncharted games themselves! At this point Uncharted is more of a Tomb Raider game than Tomb Raider is... I'm just looking forward to "Tomb Raider: Dagger of Xian"(Which has an AMAZING Demo out), the ground up remake of Tomb Raider 2... It's like a next gen remake in the same vein as Tomb Raider Anniversary... that's genuinely the direction this franchise should have taken, not a scrap and reboot direction..
